Re: KTM Duke 390 - Owners Reviews and Experiences
Guys,
My left-front fork is leaking oil. I came to office with it along with my wife .
I guess that should not harm anything - did anyone have the same problem ?
I am planning to take it to the nearest SVC . I am near to Marathahalli Ring Road now and planning to take it KTM Marathahalli. Do they have a service wing or just sales? Please advise.

ABS light blinking = ABS offOriginally posted by Legend Racer View Postis it normal to show abs light when the bike is started? As soon as i slot in gear it goes off.
We need a poll for FE in this thread as in P220 thread. For me it shows 32km/lt. hoping to get maximum possible.
ABS light permanent = ABS on
If you are not sure just switch off and on the bike, ABS gets activated irrespective of what was it previously. This is as per manual.

Re: KTM Duke 390 - Owners Reviews and Experiences
The range shown on MID is based on the fuel average that MID shows. As the Fuel average increases, even the DTE figure increases and vice versa. It basically shows the figures for the moment of time. AFAIK, once the Fuel light glows, there is 4lts of fuel in the tank. And it is highly suggested to fill the fuel once the lamp glows.Originally posted by timuseravan View PostWhat is the actual range of the bike once the low fuel light comes on? I assume 1 litre is not usable. The range shown on the console is considering this fact or not?
To give an example, suppose 50km is the range shown, then this is assuming the entire tank capacity or after subtracting the non-useable fuel?
ABS is activated once you cross 5kmph. After that ABS light goes off.Originally posted by Legend Racer View Postis it normal to show abs light when the bike is started? As soon as i slot in gear it goes off.

MID has shown some fantasy figures for me, Max showed was 43kmpl during a ride on highway where speeds did not cross 80kmph because we were trailing BulletsOriginally posted by NitinGirish View PostI've never seen more than 29kmpl on the display. Haven't yet measured reserve to reserve yet. Have run just 450 kms so far though.
But in general commuting max it showed was 33kmpl in city.
I have checked Full tank - Full tank method and Mileage is around =/- 28kmpl. I guess on highway it will give 32kmpl+.
Reserve-to-reserve may not work accurately on 390. Once you put the bike on Side stand, the fuel level drops a bit and Reserve shows up. After couple of minutes of riding, the reserve disappears.Last edited by riazmomin; 12-12-2013, 02:13 PM.2007 - Hero Honda CBZ Xtreme

How bad is the leakage??. Small amount of oil out can be managed for few Kms anything beyond will result in more damage. I suspect it should just be oil seal bust. Just to be sure, visit SVC ASAP. AFAIK, Marathalli don't have Ktm SVC. Buzz them just to be sure. CheersOriginally posted by nelson_sanjoy View PostGuys,

I was told by the Sales Consultant at the time of delivery to keep the Forks clean as it may damage the oil seal. I think it is advisable to take it to SVC ASAP.Originally posted by nelson_sanjoy View PostGuys,

Unlikely. The manual says 1.5 reserve capacity. I filled 8.16 lts after the Low Fuel Level warning. Maybe the 1-1.5 Lts is unusable? For fuel pump safety purpose.Originally posted by riazmomin View PostAFAIK, once the Fuel light glows, there is 4lts of fuel in the tank. Maybe the actual capacity of fuel tank is 8L+1.5L Reserve=9.5L and 1L unusable.A lone amateur built the ark. A large group of professionals built the Titanic...

Do not worry about it much. As long as you get it repaired the next day, no need to loose sleep over it. The duke 200 thread is replete with fork seal bust incidents.Originally posted by Team Torque View PostHow bad is the leakage??. I myself have had two instances. The 2nd one was when I was on my way to palghar(on Ahemedabad highway from Mumbai). It's 100 Km from where I live.
I rode back with the busted seal without much worry(so almost 200Ks with the busted seal). Got it repaired the next day. As long as you don't go offroad, I think the forks won't bottom out that soon, this is of course when you don't have both seals busted.
May be the 390 would have less tolerance, owing to increased power(and hence more work for the forks) but I doubt it'd bottom out in a few kmsThe hero always RIDES into the sunset!

Even I was able to fill at around 8.7 lts after the fuel warning light showed up and rode around 15kms before filling. As you said, of the 4 or 3.5 lts 1.5 might be unusable reserver quantitiy and 2 might be usable.Originally posted by NitinGirish View PostUnlikely. The manual says 1.5 reserve capacity. Re: KTM Duke 390 - Owners Reviews and Experiences
i dont know how many have this problem. i do have, with the side stand. my jeans often gets struck with foot rests while i try to slide the stand. now i know it, but it can be bad, as we may fall the bike.
another thing noted is chain looses tension faster. i dont rip but ride very sedately. it has only been 200kms since i adjusted and lubed. the gear shifts are breeze when chain tension is perfect or else it makes thud sound...I'm a responsible rider. It doesn't matter what you ride, but what matters is how you ride.

Re: KTM Duke 390 - Owners Reviews and Experiences
The leakage was not much as in not flowing but apparent on a closer look so I took it to the Khiviraj SVC Indiranagar . And it was leaking from the top, I mean from the space adjacent to the top connecting bolt just below the MID (don't know whats is it called).Originally posted by Team Torque View PostHow bad is the leakage??. I took it to the SVC but by the time I went there ,it was already 4:45 and they were about to close. They asked me to either leave it there or come next day . After some thinking I left it there since I thought the leak may get aggravated if I rode it any longer. And the SVC is far both from my home and office.Originally posted by NitinGirish View PostI was told by the Sales Consultant at the time of delivery to keep the Forks clean as it may damage the oil seal. Dont know for sure if its a burst seal or not , need to check it out tomorrow . The service person Diwakar said not to worry and that everything would be taken care of.Originally posted by Doga View PostDo not worry about it much. But whatever it may be, it feels bad and sad to give away my 5day old baby to SVC . I just completed 202kms before giving for repair . Owners - please keep a check on your fork seals too...

Re: KTM Duke 390 - Owners Reviews and Experiences
my personal experience with the SVC is that they are not very reliable.had my bike repaired(oil-coolant mixed due to improper pdi)third time and now after i got it back still the same problem of overheating and coolant level(shows fogging now).hopefully yours is a small fixable issue.so just double check stuff anyways.I still can't ride my bike with peace of mind for 10kms.๔ยкє ҭђгєє ภเภєҭұ เภ ๓ұ שєเภร

Re: KTM Duke 390 - Owners Reviews and Experiences
Sorry for [OT]...
Saw a guy ripping the 390 crazily and zipping through small gaps between cars in traffic with 0 gears... Not even a helmet and no mirrors for obvious reasons that too with another guy as pillion. Now the fear i had when 390 was launched came true - Bad*** machine getting into hands of wrong person..Risking themselves and others on road
Its better to sweat than bleed!! "AGATT "

Why don't you push for replacement buddy?. Minor gaffe getting resolved is fine but having iterative issues is not acceptable. Don't budge for anything less.Originally posted by senotrius View Postmy personal experience with the SVC is that they are not very reliable.had my bike repaired(oil-coolant mixed due to improper pdi)third time and now after i got it back still the same problem of overheating and coolant level(shows fogging now).hopefully yours is a small fixable issue.so just double check stuff anyways.I still can't ride my bike with peace of mind for 10kms.
P.S: I have been in constant loop with this thread and in hindsight I find D390's from coastal region having more niggles. Just my thought

already on it.not easy.KTM said they'll get back to me.plus the staff at asc not very understanding.two times they fixed the issue allegedly and stood no use.I'm asking for bike replacement. a new engine replacement done at the small asc with no dust control etc..already they opened up the engine allegedly and still screwed up.no way I'm entrusting an engine replacement.Originally posted by Team Torque View PostWhy don't you push for replacement buddy?.
