Initial lot of 390's did not come with the said boot. But all the ones came later have it. Below picture points out what it is.
As said, forks need to be removed to install them. But if they are cheap, you can cut them on one side and cover the seal area and stick it back with some adhesive. Saves the labour charges.

This is pretty alarming. I really hope it's a case the happy and problem free owners enjoying the ride so much that they have hardly any time to post anything here. -_-

Anyways, I wanted to know about the 'heating issue'. The TD bike I rode did heat up to nearly unmanageable levels in just 2-3kms. Read that the production bikes don't have this problem. Also, didn't see anyone reporting any heating issues. Not sure what kind of traffic you guys have been in to. What's the heat like in bumper to number traffic? Would like to hear from Bangaloreans.
    Wow, pretty nice thread statistics

Any how, even when I rode the test ride bike the heat was on higher side. But once I got my bike, Never had issues with heat. It does heats up when in snail traffic, but that is manageble. Till now never the engine temparature light came up.

Any how, just for information sake to others, check the coolant level of the bike when engine is cold or start of the day. Hot engine makes coolant to expand and the level shown in the container is higher than actual it is. So fill the coolant only when engine is cold to know the exact level. I read few posts where coolant was spillling from top, make sure ou guys chek the coolant level and see that it is closer to MIN mark than MAX mark.

Agree that being a new model, the first couple of lots would have issues, but what I meant to say is with almost every post here related to some issue or the other, it kinda looks as if the bike is full of problems.

      Ah! That's nice.

Hopefully I won't end up as the next 1 in 100/1000

Good to know, that there's no hearing issue. And yes, switching from air to liquid cooled. (Well, hopefully soon)

this is how my brand new duke 390 looks now.engine opened up and apparently problem solved.NOT.coolant level low as always.now previous green coloured mix is replaced by white milky look at the engine oil eye-port.for newbies like me the correct colour is dark red.i believe the look is due to moisture content still inside the engine.plus panel gaps and scratches abound(i was very picky with this while selecting the bike so i know). Now the bike looks like a two year old piece.talks continuing with the concerned ktm area manager.said he will give a solution by Tuesday.nothing short of a replacement will do.this bike has been made a guinea pig long enough.

So is it 5000 or 7500?
Asking again , does anyone know the service interval?

For Pune guys, the wakdewadi svc seems better.

Don't worry mate. Here in Bangalore the service interval is at 1K, 6K, 11K kms . No way can we have our Engine oil for such ling periods though. I prefer drain intervals of max 3500 Kms

I have never seen a shoddy work bettering this . That too a Ktm!!. Seems like they had an extra carton full of Silicon Gel that they decided to paste all over. As for the Milky white, condensation is occurring due to blown head gasket buddy. Very disgraceful to see your beloved's state mate. I hope you are doing everything you could for replacement and nothing else. God bless those morons

Believe you me, I know the pain. When you take that extra step only to make sure you have no unpleasant incidents happening, all hell breaks loose and you see yourself immersed in the agony. Well atleast till they decide what next, you can have some much missed fun with your beast

                      Hi all,

Had gone to the ASC today for my first service and it so happens the showroom guys filled the engine with Motul 7100 4T 10W40, but the recommended oil is Motul 7100 4T 10W50, on questioning the service manager he said since the recommended oil is not available hence they used 10W40 and said it won't cause any problems.
So my question is, should I make a issue out of it or is it OK and won't effect the engine.

And one more thing what is the ideal shifting rpm you guys shift at?

                      Cheers,

Got my 1stService done today at Auto Service, Banashankari. Had called up Mr. Venkat Shyam earlier this week and fixedup an appointment for 9:15 AM today. Reached there a good hour early. Thoughthey claim they start at 8:30AM it was not before 9AM that staff started totrickle in.
My bike wasinitially queued for washing even before job card was done. A small boy did thewashing with pressure water. Later I found out that the water had seeped inunder the seat! Once washing was done, the Service Advisor Mr. Raju, wrote thejob card. He undertook following tasks:-
                          ChangingEngine Oil.
                          Changing OilFilter
                          Cleaning AirFilter box
                          Settingclutch play.

They appliedpolish so well that I could not see anything in the mirror and had to call theboy back to wipe it again. For this extra ordinary service they charged meRs.49. Total bill was for Rs.1522 including Rs.55 charged for consumables. As a complimentary gift I got a prominentswirl mark on my mudguard.

Your Picture shows Presence of Moisture which mists with heat in the engine...DO NOT Accept this...Even the first incidence of Coolant mixing with engine oil clearly shows that the bike had not been checked judiciously, and it is a manufacturing defect. Ask for a New Bike or at least a new engine....

Owners of KTM 390, while reading the spec of 200 and 390 I was surprised to find that the Quantum of Coolant is 1.1 Liter in 200cc and 390 has the same amount. I wonder how it would be enough ...390 cc produces almost Twice the power, and is also twice the displacement, hence will produce higher amount of heat, which would require greater cooling . Has anyone noticed this ? may be some owner can get it clarified at SVC..

I haven't had any issues with my bike but after the first service when i twisted the throttle i noticed that my bike wont go over 10,500 RPM
                              This happens on all gears.
I met another dude with the same problem but his bike wont go over 9,500 RPM.. The guys at the service center said its normal behavior
                              Is this normal?
Is there is Rev limiter setting on board?

Also for people who are interested in the mileage... The on board display has never shown me above 31 km\L
I have done 2500 KM so far... city (in the night mostly) and highway riding.
Checked mileage tank full method multiple times and it gives an average of 23km\L.. Max it has given me is 24 km\L... On the highways it gave me 22 km\L because i was constantly over 140 km\hr
