I'm afraid a price hike seems to be true. Or is it?

Any owners have any idea or using a smallish bag on 390 - about 4-5 lts? I need for office stuff or quick errand runs.
I had asked previously but got no replies

Also anyone has fitted helmet lock to the bike? Or any idea how it can be done?

        biggest regret:

        - engine oil leak from engine head gasket. This is a big story:

My engine started leaking very less oil from engine head gasket when it had completed 2600 kms. I wrote an email to KTM and later took it to a SVC. They removed the engine head, replaced the head gasket and within 10 Kms after that, it started leaking lot of oil from head gasket again. Took it SVC again, they removed the head and applied some kind of sealant to head gasket. Later, I didn't notice any leak from right or left side of the engine head gasket and was happy that the issue was resolved. My happiness was short lived. :-(

After 3600 Kms, recently, 3 days ago, when I was cleaning my bike myself, found lot of leaked oil gunk in the front of the engine along with some fresh oil leak as well. This area was hidden behind the radiator and I never noticed it until now. So I assume that the original oil leak was not fixed completely. Checked the engine oil level and it has gone down from the original level. Wrote an email to KTM again and I have left the bike at SVC to get it resolved. My bike is at SVC now and hopefully, the issue will get resolved completely.
Got the issue fixed and I have rode 100+ Kms so far and didn't notice oil leak issue reoccur.. Need to check it periodically...

Although 390 may have minor niggles, You forget everything as soon as you slot the first gear and get moving.... :-)

        Question to fellow 390 owners.......

It seems that there is confusion about engine oil quantity at different SVCs, manual etc....

        - One of the SVC in B'lore filled 1.6 Ltr of engine oil after draining the old oil...They even showed the measuring jug filed with 1.6 ltr before filling it....
        - Another SVC, the one where i got the oil leak fixed, told me that it would fill only 1.5 Ltr of engine oil and showed me the measuring cup with 1.5 ltr of oil... I insisted them to fill 1.6 ltr and later they filled it with 1.6 ltr.

Both the SVCs tell that there would be some oil already left in the crank case even when you drain out all the oil....

Now, what is the correct quantity?

Owner's manual says that it should be 1.6 Ltr and it also tells that it must be between upper and lower level of the oil level viewer when you park the vehicle upright....

When the SVC fills only 1.5 ltr after draining out the existing oil, oil level doesn't come between oil level viewer and I have to tilt the bike a little more to right [from upright position] to view the oil level...

So for now, I'm going with the manual and oil level viewer when parked upright [engine is switched off atleast 5 minutes before you check the level]....Now after filling 1.6 ltr, oil level is exactly half way between top and lower level of oil level viewer.....

Check the engine oil level only after a few minutes after stopping the engine while the engine is warm/hot. The engine should be warm and it will showup easily through the window. Be careful here, otherwise there is a good chance of getting overfilled. The oil expands and it will go past the upper level in the window.

I think 1.5l is right as there will be little oil remaining inside the crank case while draining. And is the 1.6l mentioned in the manual without removing the clutch casing?

Guys, just came back from the service centre after the first service(900km). As expected not much has changed.
The chain tightening has done some good as the low end rideability has increased a bit but that is expected once you tighten the chain.
The buzzing noise was identified as the catalytic converter touching the engine, they tried to fix it but were not able to properly. Atleast I know the source of the sound now. Would get it sorted once I go there again.
The tappet sound(click-click sound) needs shim adjustment(valve clearance) and I would have to keep the bike with them for a day at least.
The vibes are the same, another thing I noticed is that the bike vibrates a lot more at the thigh area when the tank has less fuel, the vibes are well controlled when the tank is full.
Brakes were very good at the beginning, now the free play at the lever is just too much. This is common in all the 390's I have seen. I dunno why.

But once you whack open the throttle, these niggles feel like nothing.
Today, one r15 guy thought that it was a duke 200 because he was coming from behind. I was doing a 60-70kmph. He passed me and turned to give me a look, I did not bother, then again he slowed down let me pass and re-did the whole pass me and give me a look. This was repeated thrice and his ffe was bothering me by now.
I just gave it all the throttle in the 4th cog, he was about to pass me again but I just rocketed past him. The look on his face. Priceless!!

earlier I had an overheating issue with the coolant level being zero.had to leave it with asc for a day as they had to undo the whole radiator assembly /pipes to check for leakage.roughly a week or so later;well now zero coolant level again and overheating error message. was this a known issue with the duke 200 as well?

is there any leakage trails left behind ? If not, there is a problem. It should not vanish like that. Just have a look at the color of the oil through the inspection window and tell what you find.

Check the color of the engine oil. If its greenish, then the coolant is leaking into the engine oil. If it is so, then it's really bad for the engine as the coolant dilutes the engine oil and will damage all the internals.

Do you guys always go to authorised service center for chain adjustment or you do it yourself also ? Can it be done from local mechanic shop...I was wondering if they will have rear stand for 390.

Well, if there is any internal leak from the coolant channels and gets mixed with engine oil, it is pretty serious stuff. But that will be covered under warranty, but it will be messy involving opening up the engine and all.
So do be careful, I also take that there are no gaskets blown so it makes it even stranger.

Just another question..are you sure the radiator fan is working ? Have you checked it ?

I don't think rear stand is needed (though nice to have) for chain cleaning and lubrication especially if you have two people on the job. One can tilt the bike and another can apply cleaner/lube. Else one can use car jack or a simple wooden plank.
