I booked it on August 2nd in BTM KTM. As per the booking date, they should have delivered on November 2nd. But Samson, their Sales Consultant told the same thing to me. Pay full amount now and you will get delivery after 25 days. I do not understand how he can say the same thing to a person booked 30 days back and to a person who booked almost 90 days back! I grilled him a bit (last week, before reading the quoted posted) and he said the showroom has delivered ~30 bikes so far and he expects the next lot to contain ~30 bikes. When I questioned him specifically are you delivering according to priority list, he said yes.

But if BTM KTM is saying the same thing to everybody and not sticking to the deliveries according to priority list then I would take this up with Bajaj.

This showroom business practices is not right.

Tweeted to Mr. Rajiv Bajaj & I got a call from the showroom at 12:30 PM followed by KTM's regional in-charge around 1:30 PM. Here is the gist of what they are saying:-

1. Deliveries from now on will take place according to people paying up. People paying the full money will be priortised over people who have not made payment. KTM AGREES with this. The reasoning is, that the lot sizes are bigger now and deliveries (from Factory to Dealerships) are smooth & frequent now.

2. It takes two days for finance approval and TWELVE DAYS for delivery thereafter.

3. Once the full payment is done, bike will be alloted to you and before sending for registration PDI can be done by the customer.

4. BTM KTM does not have bikes as of now but they are expecting next lot in the next 2-3 days.

The overall sense I could make, especially after speaking to the KTM guy is that 390s waiting list, priority number, etc days are over and the deliveries from now on will happen like any other bike in regular production. You walk into the showroom, pay full cash and after waiting for 12 days, 390 will be delivered to you. Add another 2 days if going with their Finance route.

I asked the showroom manager about 12 days lead time and he gave me gas about registration, PDI, etc. 12 days for all this!!!

The KTM guy advised me to complete the paper work for finance and then take it from there. When I told him I don't want to be in a situation where I pay the money, EMIs are getting recovered but I don't have the bike, his reply was " Don't worry, that won't happen. We know what we are doing".

I don't want to get into the hassle of cancelling, re-booking, etc. Since I now have KTM's ear to my problems, I would go ahead with this, sometime in 1st week of Novemeber.

Is this true of all showrooms? I had booked on Dassera with booking amount of 30K at Wakdeadi showroom. I visited again yesterday and offered to pay the entire amount as I had got my finances ready. But the sales guy said that they are going according to wait list and will accept the rest of the money only when the delivery is ready.

well,took leave from work and booked the beast for 10k at ktm vytilla.no finance scheme.
delivery in 2.5 weeks-1month(it must be what all dealers say,no more delays like earlier etc).maybe earlier if as according to nitingirish.

next order of business is safety gear upgrade from an old vega half face to hopefully a dot certified full face.plus jacket.was hard enough getting family nod for 390.all thanks to the young punk neighbor kid;wears no gear whatsoever and hooligan gang of friends.not the right kind of biker image.

No idea. KTM guy himeslf was very emphatic in saying "showroom is right in saying that". That here refers to showroom priortizing deliveries to people paying full amount.

The logic is even if the dealer jumps the queue in between for people paying upfront, the supply has increased to such an extent that they can still deliver to the waitlist as per the priority.

Frankly, the guy from KTM himself didn't seem to have a clue and there is absolutely ZERO transparency in all this.

now that buying off the shelf is possible (keeping in mind the 12 days wait), should a price increase be expected in the near future?

I'll visit the showroom tomorrow to pay the full amount... But if they say to wait for 25 days IDK what to do!

I am close to 90kg As I said earlier, it was on softest setting and I got it adjusted 2 points. Though its only a bit soft now, but good enough for some nice cornering and comfortable enough for pot holes.

It is conventional adjustment mechanism. There are no comprehensive steps to do it. You need a simple spanner like tool that is specifically used to adjust the suspension. The toolkits does NOT have it, so got it done at SVC. I guess there are 4 steps of adjustments, set them accordingly with that spanner.

My CBZ Xtreme tool kit came with this spanner.


This website is quoting 21000 for the 390 Metz tires.



A group buy may get the price much lower.

Finally got some time and Picked up my Duke 390 today.Initial Impressions:
1.) With clutch fully disengaged she hits 10kmph on speedo.
2.) Need to get used to the new clutch. Stalled many times.
3.) Enough power. Feels like a full on upgrade from Baby ninja (minus the parallel twin scream) and a lot more fun than GT650R/Ninja 650R. The last bike that made me smile this much was R6.
4.) Nothing and absolutely nothing on road can keep up with you. Even when riding under 7500revs there is enough power. Cant wait to open it up after 200kms.
5.) Heats like shit. So far ridden it only for 30kms in traffic from showroom to office and she did scare me with heat.
6.) Attention grabber, all thanks to the White color and those orange wheels.
7.) 6th gear is useless unless you are above 80kmph. Even on gurgaon toll road never felt a need to slot onto 6th.
8.) Very bad for off-roading all thanks to the tall gearing. Gearing it low will make it a off-road rocket.
9.) After riding nothing but pulsar for few months, the trellis frame is an eye opener. The stability is amazing. The way this bike just flies over potholes and gravel is just mind blowing.
10.) Will post more about the bike. Waiting for the metzelers to wear in a little before I go footpeg scraping .

On planet dsg site tyre for superbike(Michelin Pilot Power 2CT 190/50/ZR17 Rear Tire) are around 11k so do you guys think 390 tyres should be this expensive???

500 km done & faced one problem.......coolant level is dropping very constantly, level is just below max. point when brought bike it dropped till min. in 400 km, went to showroom, mechanic filled coolant till max. now after 100 more km level again dropped just below refilled level, mechanic told its normal for first 1000 km. their is no leak from any hose of coolant or from radiator i think it just evaporates from pressure cap. I crossed 7.5k mark just once for 3-4 secs. anybody else faced this issue? please help!!!!
