Re: KTM 390 - The original Hooligan - Ownership Thread
Somehow I feel the wait is a test of true character and patience. The rider of the 390 has to be extremely patient and hold true biking character if he/she does not want to get their face planted on the tarmacOriginally posted by pkd View PostA "waiting for D390 delivery" mind is a devils workshop. How about this for an evil thought - Ditch the 390, buy a Duke 200 (delivery in 3 days) and an iPhone 5S

For those who sold their bikes just after/before booking cannot blame anyone for their decision because it's common sense that for things like jobs, vehicles etc you don't change till you have another one in hand in today's times and especially in the case of the 390 when things have been uncertain from the very first day, they should not have taken the blind decision.
I feel pity for those who threaten to cancel their bookings because of the wait. I mean if you wanna cancel your booking because you are angry, then it's better of you don't have a 390. One less angry biker on the road
Also, after you cancel then what? the dealer is gonna feel pity and give you delivery? book another underpowered moped? I don't think so! You will end up making another booking and waiting another couple of months till your anger subsides. Only the passionate ones are patient enough to wait to have this beauty in their hands. Irritance and anger is such a silly thing in the face of this outstanding power prowler!
I will wait for the maximum 90days as in the contract for my bike which should be 23rd of September. After that, if I still dont have mine in hand, all hell will break loose.Last edited by Cyrus_the_virus; 09-15-2013, 04:13 PM.

Just don't kidnap the dealer and ask 390 in ransomOriginally posted by Cyrus_the_virus View PostI will wait for the maximum 90days as in the contract for my bike which should be 23rd of September. After that, if I still dont have mine in hand, all hell will break loose.
well you said that right about having patience and 390.. With so much power, a rookie can be a danger for himself and others also..
Ride safe and have fun.

Nicely put. Good things come to those who wait. On a serious note, what is the protocol to follow if deliveries are delayed beyond the 90 days?

The contract kinda still says that they cannot be held responsible if it exceeds 90days. Only that you have a choice of cancelling without penalty charges.Originally posted by pkd View PostNicely put. Good things come to those who wait. However, prima facie the contract is extremely skewed towards dealer and this contact will not stand in front of law because of the unfavourable terms to the signing party. Hence, if a legal recourse is taken, it is highly possible to sue for damages, cheating, intrest, non communication of status etc.
Also, we have senior management of Bajaj and Rajiv Bajaj himself give a verbal guarnatee via news print and video that deliveries will be met within the 90days. So this part holds more accountability in the face of law than the paper we all signed.

Buddy i think i read somewhere in this thread that the aggrement was 'minimum' of 90days.. Not maximum.. So they can make you guys wait for as long as they can..Originally posted by pkd View PostNicely put. Good things come to those who wait. Guys I'm getting frustrated will all the delay in deliveries....some time I think may be wait more for harlet davidson 500 or Royal enfield continental GT(they have launched it in UK at only 200 GBP more than classic 500). What do you guys think?Pics link: http://picasaweb.google.com/flyingabhi

Sadly.. this is the truth.. there is nothing one can do in case the bike is not delivered within 90 days. Companies should not be able to play consumers like this.. sighOriginally posted by nadz11.ns View PostBuddy i think i read somewhere in this thread that the aggrement was 'minimum' of 90days.. Yeah Yeah! with all this patient waiting going on my bank wont give me loan after 30 days... then i will have to re-submit all Docs and do everything once again... I have booked a 390cc moped! Not a litre class Ducati to go though all that trouble once again!Originally posted by Cyrus_the_virus View Post

As far as i know a company has no right to take bookings unless they are sure of a delivery date for the product. I think we can easily file a suit against Bajaj. We can also drag KTM showroom to court for "mental harassment".
My 90 day waiting period will expire on 6th Oct.. if i dnt receive bike till then, a second hell will break loose here too . I can only imagine what is coming there way if 1400 people out of those 1500 bookings file a suit in consumer court...
Hell, even a full blown litre class import is delivered within 30 days!Street racing is for Squids trying to make up for their small equipment

Re: KTM 390 - The original Hooligan - Ownership Thread
Thats long. I am willing to wait provided Bajaj Dealers communicate accurate information regularly and frequently. My 90 days finishes at the end of this month. Getting genuine accurate information on time would help me plan my life better. If it wasn't for xbhp or Facebook, being in the dark about everything would be really intolerable. Thank you guys for all your support - especially the lucky owners, for all the information and pictures shared so far.Originally posted by atul_chang View PostI remember what happened when I bought the cbr 250. 8 months it took

Did you change the engine oil just once at the 1st servicing? Or did you change it once more in between. General opinion suggests changing the oil at 200-300kms on the ODO, to get the worn chippings, shavings(generated as a result of initial break-in) of the engine components out of the system.
I am confused. What do you suggest?
Another problem is Motul does not sell 7100 10w50 in the retail market. It is only supplied to the OEM's i.e Bajaj etc.www.teamrollers.com

Re: KTM 390 - The original Hooligan - Ownership Thread
You are correct, ideally it should have been changed. I couldn't find the oil and I did not have the manual with me. In the online version they were talking about 15w50. I checked with some of the shops and this was not available. So it just felt like too much trouble. I have also read reports that the issue of metal shavings is not that severe any more with modern engines. So I decided to live with it.Originally posted by maverick180 View PostAtul,

10w50 is what bajaj has put and have an invoice which say ktm 390 motul 10w50. The manual has a sticker which has changed recommended oil to 10w50 from 15w50
