Re: KTM 390 - The original Hooligan - Ownership Thread
That may be true and I am delighted to get a 5-6 lakh bike for a third of its price, but its just that there is still no confirmation on the start of deliveries. Even the given booking contract does not address the issue relating to delivery period, just that INR4k will not be deducted on cancellation.Originally posted by abhifusion View Post

Abhiman Saw you today morning around 7 45 near tambaram, chennai. I was the guy on R15 V2(Red) with Ls2 helmet. Followed you till tambaram and I thought of speaking to you. But I was in a hurry so left. And I guess you were searching for chennai bypass.. I slowed down to tell you, but you slowed down before me. Hope you found it
The way you rode, I can tell that the brakes give so much confidence.
Enjoy the machine dude

Hey bro..I hope your comment on TVS tires about plastics is fun-oriented..Originally posted by splus View PostIt's because TVS tires are made of plastic for superb slip-ability, that's why they last so long. Had them once, never ever again!
Metz are sticky and a great quality tires, but won't last long. The price you pay for stickyness...
Let's see if it will be possible to get them for Rs 11k a pair, but I have a doubt that's the price Bajaj is buying them for (bulk order), and not the price they're selling them for. But let's see...
If Metz happen to cost 24k then those who're on a budget and don't have much rain might go for MRFs which cost some 8k a pair.
I've found MRFs to have fantastic grip in dry, especially when warmed up properly. When they're cool they're "just OK", when warmed up a little they're better, but when ridden for some 30+ km on an open road they stick like a glue.
I'm using them for past 2+ years & infact I have adjusted my riding accordingly...
Well ofcourse those tires are close to shit when it comes to grip in wet conditions, but in dry conditions its good..no doubt about that..
Well the reason is not bcos plastics which u mentioned..the reason is bcoz, its hard compound & so it lasts long..
Soft compound tires give good grip but wont last long..
Anyway next time I change my tires I will obviously go for Ceat Vertigo Sport tire rather than TVS tires.
Ride safe...Last edited by susheelkumar; 09-03-2013, 06:52 PM.---------------------------------------------------------------------------

yes, I was searching for a way out of Chennai .. lol .. I had to then cover the lost time on NH
.
Near Krishnagiri I found another guy on FZ following me.. he helped me find the way to Hosur :P
I am giving the bike for service tomorrow.. I hope the bike becomes smoother at low rpms after that.Duke 390 bangalore owners facebook group: https://www.facebook.com/groups/KTM.D390.Bnglr.Ownr/

As per Team-Bhp.
. Mekhri circle had 140 bookings when i went there last week and Indiranagar had 172 in exactly 7 days.

Re: KTM 390 - The original Hooligan - Ownership Thread
@JayD .. elaborate the process of picking the keys of my Duke 390 from the table?? :P
It seems there is confusion as to which showroom got the bikes delivered first. This is my inference. Regarding the big shot guy, I dont know if that is true..
I am more excited about getting the bike after its first service (will get it tomorrow), to reach its higher rpms
Will go to Udupi(hometown) this weekend, will try to click pics on the way and also give an update on how the bike is after the first service..
Btw.. I am talking only about Bangalore here .. (strictly local news.. )Duke 390 bangalore owners facebook group: https://www.facebook.com/groups/KTM.D390.Bnglr.Ownr/

Re: KTM 390 - The original Hooligan - Ownership Thread
My Experience:
I am very impressed with the handling of the bike .. I was taking the corners at 120kmph without reducing the speed on NH, even the maneuverability at 100kmph is very easy.
I have not checked the bikes acceleration to its potential.. I did not cross the 7.5k rpm limit so far.. will do that soon
.
When the engine is not hot, power delivery at low rpm(about 2k rpm) is uneven. I have asked the service guy to check it. Could be the issue with my bike.
I was not tired a bit after the chennai trip, which is very good news for me. I went to office after coming from chennai and everyone was surprised hearing that .. lol
Engine Oil.
I think 1.6l Motul 7100 10w50 is used.. will confirm this tomorrow. I know that the one used is a little cheaper than motul 300v used in ninja300.
Break in Method.
I rode initially at constant 6k rpm which is about 100kmph and later(after 500kms or so) I increased it a bit for constant 110-120 kmph.
I did not ever cross 7.5k rpm (No MotoMan). Twice I touched 7.5k rpm .
The bike gave good mileage of 35kmpl..
Let see how the bike is tomorrow after service

Re: KTM 390 - The original Hooligan - Ownership Thread
A quick review up on the other bhp forum. A good insight into whats different from the other bikes he has owned.
My Tryst with Orange: KTM Duke 390 - Team-BHP

I too felt this inconsistency at lower rpms on a cold test bike.Originally posted by Abhiman View PostWhen the engine is not hot, power delivery at low rpm(about 2k rpm) is uneven.

Mileage is wow! Was this tankful to tankful or indicative on the speedo ?

Re: KTM 390 - The original Hooligan - Ownership Thread
Both gave similar numbers.
Windblast depends on the riding gear. I did not feel a thing at 100kmph. 100 is less than 6k rpm around 5.5k I think. 110 is around 6k rpm. 135kmph is around 7.5k rpm.Originally posted by ronitgandhi24 View Postbuddy on highways how was the windblast..i meant as 120 is easy on this beast but how you fealt that time and 2hat was the rpm...and awsome mileage figures..
On highway. Both reserve to reserve and on dashboard gave similar number. 350kms 800rs.Originally posted by Mik View PostA quick review up on the other bhp forum. A good insight into whats different from the other bikes he has owned.
