Thanks for sharing but everybody here has read this story
It takes more love to share the saddle than it does to share the bed.

Yeah agree and I also think that all the dealers (at least here in Delhi) have read it and quoting the date as mentioned.

The better the tire the softer the compound. the best tires that I have used in my life are supercorsa sp. Sticky like velcro. Went off at 4500km during the third day of tracks.

Welcome to the high end tire world bro. Sometimes per km cost of rubber exceeds that of petrol. 12k is pretty decent mileage. I would rather rub the rubber on the road than skin during a crash.

My MRF nylo on Caliber 115 is still stock (the front one), and the bike is a decade old.. lol. But, since, by all accounts the Metzlers are sticky, the wear is far greater than any other Indian manufacturer and some of the models offered from european brands. That is why, if you check the particular Metzler, i.e., M5 Sportec is used in super bikes that are race track oriented to give superior grip on tarmacs. In general soft compound rubber is used for this particular use and hence more tyre gets burned during a ride.

Hey atul_chang, can you comment on the life of Metzlers on Indian roads.

On the race tracks you punish the tyres a lot more. But metzelers are developed as a tyre that will fit both. My guess is 12k should be about right. I have ridden the ducati 2k in these tyres and they are still new

atul_chang - A couple of questions, as you already own the beast..

Are you using the default Bajaj oil or have you switched to Mineral oil ?

And since you have owned some powerful machines, can you let us know :-

1. Break-In method which you would be using...
2. Engine oil change intervals...

This info would definately help us, when we do get hold of our bikes...

1. Good old break in. Not motoman. 7500 rpm I am over 120kmph. Trust me it does not break in
2 first servicing not done but I will be using what ever the co. Recommends

It's because TVS tires are made of plastic for superb slip-ability, that's why they last so long. Had them once, never ever again!

Metz are sticky and a great quality tires, but won't last long. The price you pay for stickyness...
Let's see if it will be possible to get them for Rs 11k a pair, but I have a doubt that's the price Bajaj is buying them for (bulk order), and not the price they're selling them for. But let's see...

If Metz happen to cost 24k then those who're on a budget and don't have much rain might go for MRFs which cost some 8k a pair.
I've found MRFs to have fantastic grip in dry, especially when warmed up properly. When they're cool they're "just OK", when warmed up a little they're better, but when ridden for some 30+ km on an open road they stick like a glue.

Besides the grip we have to also consider that tires are rated for top speed. Considering the 390 does well over 150 kmph tires that can handle such speeds are a must.

Not boasting but to just give you a perspective, my Avenger 180 which is 7 years old and has done 70k kms, just went through a tyre change. While it's fun banking the Avy, not so much as banking the D200 (owned it for 7 months). I can only imagine how much better the MetZs on the 390 are going to be for that price and the rave reviews they have received. Will know in a couple of weeks I hope.

Yeppie! My cousin booked the D390 yesterday. Now unlike rest of you, we are pitching for a Dec delivery and strictly not earlier. As both of us will be overseas till Dec. Third power bike in the family. Keen on getting my hands on the demon.

With the current currency rate, it makes sense for Bajaj/KTM to first export as many bikes as possible then cater local demand...
