Re: KTM Duke 390 - Owners Reviews and Experiences
The ABS kicking in does make a kat-kat sound. That is normal. However, are you really pressing down the rear brake that hard every time? If yes, you need to learn on how to brake correctly.Originally posted by Ishan Sagar View PostYour biking tells a lot about the person you are!

Wait for a month or two, let the black 390 come and then you can get a black tank that is an exact fit. The 200 tank is half a litre small. I don't know if that changes the outer plastic dimension.Originally posted by timuseravan View Post
I am thinking of changing the white tank and head lamp plates for the one from Black Duke 200.
Is it possible? Are they exact fit?
@abhifusion you have fork and the swingarm sliders right?
Also, even after buying a black tank you would have to get the stickers separate Even if you don't like 390's graphics, that won't be an issue.
So, safer would be to wait for black 390's tank or even better wait for the black 390 if color black is what you want.
Where are you getting your bike from?

It is not normal for an ABS unit to make any sound when it kicks in. This is not normal. At most, ABS kicking in could be felt at the level as it manages the applied pressure on the brake(s). Any good ABS system is quiet in application and it should be.The Chronicles of Motorcycling - The Man, The Machine and The Road

Re: KTM Duke 390 - Owners Reviews and Experiences
Guys im having sort of a problem if u can call it that, well im getting milage of avg 12-13kmpl, yes im doing it tank full method and yes im using 91 speed.
Is it because i ride it like i stole it(throttle n brake) or is there a problem with my bike? Also i ride 90-95% of the times in gullies and market streets i also pop some wheelies and stoppies occasionally and the BIKE have done 300 KM and 1 more week for 1st service.
Can someone please throw some light into what is going wrong coz right now its burning a huge hole in my pocket
Cheers
Edit:Ohh and also on my 1st ride home from showroom ive hit 150 with pillion
, since then ive hit 120-130 a few times

Dude... There is no use regretting later like this. You didn't follow Run-in and this is the result of it.And you are doing stunts in streets which is not at all safe and you are risking others life.I hope atleast you wear gears for your safety. Owners may help..Originally posted by LTMadhav View PostGuys im having sort of a problem if u can call it that, well im getting milage of avg 12-13kmpl, yes im doing it tank full method and yes im using 91 speed.

I had my mud flap fall off. Lucky you noticed it before it fell. It is a retro fit, so can't really complain.Originally posted by peaesus View PostFirst issue noticed... two of three screws in the front mud flap is missing
By the time I retrieved the mud flap from the road, several vehicles had run over and it broke down the center. Stocks not yet available.
And you are surprised that you are getting 12-13?Originally posted by LTMadhav View PostGuys im having sort of a problem if u can call it that, well im getting milage of avg 12-13kmpl, yes im doing it tank full method and yes im using 91 speed.

I get those kind of figures when I'm killing it with burst of high rev acceleration. I can't imagine the damage you have done to the engine already at 300Kms. Don't be surprised if you start having leaking oil seals, tappet noise, timing chain noise, coolant leaking etc in a few months time.
FYI: there is no 91 Speed. It's 97.Last edited by Cyrus_the_virus; 11-18-2013, 12:54 PM.

Re: KTM Duke 390 - Owners Reviews and Experiences
Have a break! and eat that kit kat..i am getting a strange sound from the back of the bike whenever i apply the rear brake a kit - kit kat
(sorry, that was real bad one)
on a serious note, is the sound coming from the rotor assembly? do check the rotor and other fasteners at the back side. From some of the posts, seems like the 390 has tendency to loosen fasteners cos of some vibes. loose parts always make some noise on the ride.
Your are not having a problem, but you are the problem.Guys im having sort of a problem if u can call it that, well im getting milage of avg 12-13kmpl, yes im doing it tank full method and yes im using 91 speed.

and the answer to your query lies in your post. please have some mercy on the engine for some more kms, then you can continue to ride hard and do wheelies and stoppies.

Re: KTM Duke 390 - Owners Reviews and Experiences
Ideally I would like the black 390 but per the sales guy the black color wont be available in India till end Q1 or Q2 2014. Also the price would go up by 15-20K in December or January. Even if it is bunk I dont want to risk it considering that white to black conversion would be around 2k.Originally posted by DukeDey View PostWait for a month or two, let the black 390 come and then you can get a black tank that is an exact fit. Re: KTM Duke 390 - Owners Reviews and Experiences
Had a scary incident yesterday.
Was out with a pillion on a joy ride with short speed bursts (hit 150 on a slight downhill). After about 1.5 hrs on a highway esque road, was on my way back home when a nice guy pointed out that my rear tyre was flat!!! I didnt even realise it. When i went to the filling station immediately, the tire pressure was 2psi!! Its great that the tire holds up so well . I am not a pro, but i am not a n00b either. Have been riding for 10+ years and would have detected the puncture if there was any hint of wobbling.
Anyway, will post an update once i hear what caused the puncture from the svc center

You sure it would be 2k? I guess all the panels would set you back by 4k plus and also the sticker set would be separate.Originally posted by timuseravan View PostIdeally I would like the black 390 but per the sales guy the black color wont be available in India till end Q1 or Q2 2014. The tank panel is 1600 and the headlight plates are 200 each for Duke 200. This is according to the sales guy. I have not verified.Originally posted by DukeDey View PostYou sure it would be 2k? I guess all the panels would set you back by 4k plus and also the sticker set would be separate.

Re: KTM Duke 390 - Owners Reviews and Experiences
can someone help me with a few details ? I know i can find these in the manual but i havent received the manual yet, and will be getting it after a week when i get the papers.
1. what is the tyre pressure mentioned in the manual ?
2. what are the steps to be followed during the run in ? I guess its for the first 1000 kms. When life gives you Yamaha, make it RD350 not R15. :D

Re: KTM Duke 390 - Owners Reviews and Experiences
Did the first part of a long distance ride on the Duke.
Gurgaon to Santiniketan(bengal) - Around 1400 km in 25 hours (Including a 7 hour stop at Kanpur for the night) Riding time of 18 hours.
Things noticed
The irritating things
1. The tank range is an absolute pain in the a**. I was forced to stop every 210/220 km leading to unwanted breaks.
2. The Viaterra Fly is a bigger pain in the a**. The tying/untying ritual meant that I had to get off the bike at every petrol pump. Not a very nice option when you are wearing a riding pant which doesn't allow for too much flexibility while mounting/unmounting the bike
3. The seat, rather the sharp contours around the edges, is a design flaw in my opinion after many years doing similar times on the CBR and the 220. A slightly more rounded profile would have done wonders. My a** concurs.
The wow things
Everything !! Every little niggle be damned. This is the best affordable touring highway star ever! I did 1400 km over 18 hours of riding time by sticking to 90 to 115 band mostly. The bike handles like a charm, doesn't lose time in accelerating out of sticky situations and gives around 25 kmpl which is a bonus!
Made one little riding error. Exited a village in the evening on the highway. Generally the time cattle comes home so one has to be extra careful. On the fast lane I was doing around 95 and the divider had some bushes. Suddenly, a cow ran in from the bushes- barely 10/15 feet away from me. The bike was incredible and I was able to make a desperate evasive turn without any panic. Note to self: Avoid fast lane when the divider has bushes.
The journey back will be an attempt at a non stop ride back to Gurgaon. Lets see if the body holds up. I know the bike will
