vidhya...after completing 300kms and when i took it for oil change there was a slight leakage of oil, the O-ring was loose. I remember Venkatesh also saying the same thing. Fixed the issue but have to wait and see...

Me too faced the issue when i changed the oil at 500 kms. The O-ring was loose here too and the oil leaked under the engine into the spoiler and created a lot of mess beneath. I replaced the o ring at the first service and now have to remove the spoiler and check for recurrence.

Hi Guys,

first of all congrats to all the owners.

Two things..

1. What is the difference between 2013 and 2014 model of D390??

2. Can anyone list out all the current known issues of D390?

Regards,

Asim

Note: i didn't mean duke is not a quality product. Definitely its worth for the money you pay. But it cant match the quality of CBR. So don't flame me
I had a cbr 250r with engine issues at 27000kms that I sold abd got rid off. I own a 390 now, done 3000ish kms. It would take a day for anyone on this forum to read my post incase I narrated my horror with that bike, so pls don't get me started. Cbr 250r early lots had crap quality and I realised never to invest in Indian made Honda again.

Certain duke issues were promptly addressed in the second lot and 1st lot parts were replaced during service. Cbr maybe a good product now, it's 2013, 3 years for the largest and reputed manufacturer in the world to have quality control? Get your facts right brother. The conset in cbr was changed thrice every year, rocker arms would be broken, shims needing premature replacement, head gaskets blown, bike not going beyond 125kmph, front brake loosing bite intermittently.... Last I checked duke has better abs, some of the best tyres, suspension, brakes and all quality stuff...

on first impression I for one feel CBR has comparatively better quality.the look and feel that is.however owning it is a different matter as mohit has said.
I selected my Duke today from the dealership.tested 4 bikes before picking one finally.all four had different issues.I for one feel the finish is not THE best. it is built to a price.HoWeveR 44bhp,abs.., who cares what it looks like!?! I'm getting mine delivered tomorrow.and I also feel suspension ain't so super stiff.it is firm for sure thou,no doubts.ridden it on bad roads and for me it feels ok.

Yeah guys, lets stop d whole quality comparison for now Atleast. I d say most of us are happy with d quality and it's as good as we expected it to be.

Having said that, I have some genuine concerns, any help regarding d same would be appreciated,

1) I just can't get it to stop , I mean, m I d only one or do others also feel that d bikes brakes aren't enough, or maybe I should be using some other sort of technique to brake.

2) what's up with d clutch guys, I only ride on weekend's, but d clutch feels so hard in traffic, I mean coz we have to use it a lot in traffic, my hands pain quite a bit at times. Is that normal too?

I ve done 1100 kms up till now, v happy with the performance, jus concerned about d two points mentioned above. I got a chance to keep it at full throttle for almost 45 secs with a pillion, on a road where bikes are restricted here in Mumbai. Did a top speed of 160 continuously, best feeling in d world

Any and all help is appreciated.

does duke use dot3 brake fluids?? dealer guy said so.if so changing to a dot 4 or above based fluid would brings better braking.this is what I read from cbr250 owners feedback.
2.yup, clutch is hard.guess we will have to wear it down with time and eventually it will soften a bit.

The duke comes prefilled with dot 4 brake fluid.
Why 2wheels over 4.....

Does anybody know how to decode 390's VIN? KTM Vin Number Identification Chart : ktm-parts.com Customer Support This link does not say anything about month of manufacture and I am interested to know this.

Any help will be much appreciated.

Does anyone know if the 390 has balance shaft? The KTM website mentions it for 390RC but not for 390.

Yes, the duke has a balancer shaft. Most single cylinders have it, specially the big ones else, they would be too vibey.

If RC390 has a balance shaft, then D390 will have it too, since the engines are same. Introducing a balancer shaft means that the engine has been modified, which I dont think is the case. However, balance shaft is just a method to reduce engine vibrations, and I think D390 manages engine vibrations well enough.

Well It would be hard for all owners but I guess we all should accept it that the 390 is a average product, don't accept durability plus I don't think it's engine would last long.performance would dip post 10k Kms,there are lot of problems here and there.,
