Re: KTM Duke 390 - Owners Reviews and Experiences
Fine for driving without/wrong number plate is Rs. 100 in maharashtra, it should be same in bangalore also. Please refer to traffic police site it should have list of offences and fines. For two wheeler you should have a number plate and number should be written in single line. Sticker is not legal.Originally posted by coolmaverickguy View Post

Re: KTM Duke 390 - Owners Reviews and Experiences
Guys, the D day is closing in
, just waiting for the registration and insurance to be completed.
I have checked all the oil/fluid/coolant levels, lights, brakes etc. Anything in particular I have to check during PDI?
And one more thing, the engine oil barely shows up in the indicator when the bike is straight but is clearly visible on tilting it slightly to the right. But this was done on fully cold engine, the manual suggests to run the bike for sometime before checking. So I hope there is no need for oil top up? Also the chain looks like it has some sort of wax on it. Should it be cleaned and lubed or can it be lubed directly?
Anyways, cant wait for it now, every passing hour feels so long

Wheel rim bend on my Duke 390
So i was moving today at about 60/70 kmph, when i hit a pothole.
Immediately after that i felt control disappear from the front, and noticed the tire had gone flat! On further inspection i noticed the rim had bent out at one point. Which let the air escape. (PIC attached)
Pushed the bike to the nearest puncture guy, and got a tube installed temporarily.
Main question is can the same wheel be repaired, either through heat, or on a press? Or is replacing the wheel the best thing to do. I'm on a verge of a long road trip solo. I'm located in Delhi for the moment.
Need urgent help with this so hopefully my departure date doesn't get delayed.
I'm surprised at the damage, as on my earlier P200, i've had bad pothole slams as well, probably worse than this, with no damage. Wondering now if this Is this the price for getting a loaded bike like D390 priced so cheap.
I've been sent photos of others faced with this problem by a friend. pics of breakage to engine brace as well.
I guess it could be paranoia, but i'm getting scared now with the amount of cast critical parts on this bike!
Chase it Down!!!

Re: KTM Duke 390 - Owners Reviews and Experiences
Got fined for speeding.
How can one ride the 390 under 50kmph, on a smooth open road?? and the international standard for speed is governed by LANE and not the type of vehicle. But here, its like 80kmph for cars and 50kmh for bikes,..
ALso, i was asked to pay a fine of 300 Rs, But as per my understanding the fine for over-speeding was 100rs. When i tried asking, was tolf that if the INTERCEPTOR camera catches, the fine is 300rs. because of language barrier, could not argue much, and paid the fine with a receipt. Any one has a concrete idea about the fine amount for over-speeding in Bangalore?

Re: KTM Duke 390 - Owners Reviews and Experiences
The chain slapping is becoming really irritating . Chain is tight but still slaps ... Any permanent solution for this?
I opened the chain cover to add a small rubber slider but was advised against it by some people.
I guess it depends on your luck. People with stickers have been riding with no problems unless ...Originally posted by coolmaverickguy View PostGuys need some info about bangalore
Is it mandatory to have front no plate. what kinda fine i may be charged. if i put sticker no on wiser of headlight will it do the need full ?
In Bangalore it is kind of mandatory specially on month-end Friday-Saturdays where Mami( Mamu's wife) asks for mutton you may need to shelve

KTM Adventure would quench the thirst of many. Hope they come up with exchange offers with D390Originally posted by shootingstar View PostLooks like sooner than later we will have RC200,RC390 , 390 Adventure (I'm waiting for this one) and 1190 adventure (my dream bike provided its not very expensive

He was coming from hydrabad on this 390 duke who was in 100 + he did see the speed limit sign and came down to 80 (there was no specific board which stated cars : 80 and two wheelers : 60 ) he was doing < 80 and was still fined. Due to language barrier he was also could not argue with them.

What a lame excuse! What's the problem in doing 50 kmph within city limits? Asking this because 99% of the interceptors are manned in city limits.
Also, i was asked to pay a fine of 300 Rs, But as per my understanding the fine for over-speeding was 100rs.
The fines for over speeding were always 300 rupees. 100 is what you pay as bribe and DO NOT get a recepit for. 300 is a challan and you get the receipt.Got a $5 head? Get a $5 helmet.

Re: KTM Duke 390 - Owners Reviews and Experiences
sire, mine was just a way of expressing that 390 is difficult to contain to lower speeds, esp when the road is good and wide with relatively no traffic, be it on or off city limits. Also the handling and ride on a smooth tarmac gives a skewed perspective of the speed unless one looks at the speedo! no excuses as such.. i saw the interceptor, and before the guy could flag me down, i had already switched on my indicator, braking and coasting towards the interceptor to pay the fine. law abiding i say! What a lame excuse! What's the problem in doing 50 kmph within city limits? Asking this because 99% of the interceptors are manned in city limits.
What i was cribbing about was why have different speed limit standards for bikes and cars? especially now when the market scenario is changing with a breed of new relatively fast bikes available.
