Re: KTM Duke 390 - Owners Reviews and Experiences
I haven't experienced any such problems, but, the idling rpm can be adjusted using the idling screw. If this does not solve the problem, the cause is definitely of a faulty sensor or the ecu. The bike stopping intermittently seems to be a sign of faulty ecu. Ask your friend to take it to Kirti Nagar svc and talk to the manager there. It would be helpful if the ktm service engineer (Mr Mehir) is also present, therefore, call prior to visit. My experience with the svc has been good till now, hence the suggestion.Originally posted by The Monk View Post

Any experiences of the same and solutions?

Does sound like a ECU problem, maybe the maps are faulty, flashing the ecu or replacing it with a new one should do the trick.
BTW, can the idling RPM be set manually on a Fi bike ? I thought it was a parameter controlled by the ecu and not at liberty for a user to set it without changing the ecu parameters.

Same as the main stand, helps when you work on the bike or just if you want to park it safe in your house rather than putting it on side stand.

Re: KTM Duke 390 - Owners Reviews and Experiences
last night, saw a nail embedded in the rear tyre. Had read it somewhere on the forum not to pull it out, untill i am at a puncture shop. Luckily, the air did not escape.
Went to a puncture shop this morning to get the thing fixed. My first ever puncture experience on a tubeless tyre. The guy, pulled the nail, and brutally inserted a sharp screwdriver type thing to make the hole bigger. my heart was in my mouth looking at metz being subjected to such a torture. After making the hole bigger, he simply inserted some flexible and sticky tube kind of material, and cut some portion of it which was projecting out.
Is this how a tubeless puncture is repaired? He charged me 75rs which i think is too much for that small job. No wheel removal from the bike, No tyre removal from the rim. Simply make the hole bigger, and plug it from outside. Next time onwards, i can do this myself, if this is how a tubeless puncture is fixed.
Another update: this morning, suddenly one of the roots windtone horn stopped working. Stopped to inspect and saw the LHS horn hanging from the electrical wire. The metal calmp had broken at the bend cos of vibrations! So much for quality of clamp.. will have to get one fabricated now..

By adjusting it your adding little more throttle. Thats it. It is not idling. ECU manages the idling thing.Originally posted by krish2778 View PostDoes sound like a ECU problem, maybe the maps are faulty, flashing the ecu or replacing it with a new one should do the trick.

Thats the way the punctures are fixed on tubeless tires.Originally posted by nasirkaka View Postlast night, saw a nail embedded in the rear tyre. Had read it somewhere on the forum not to pull it out, untill i am at a puncture shop. Luckily, the air did not escape.

You can do it your self by just purchasing the puncture kit. It comes with those rubbery strips, sealing solution and Sharp screw driver thingy. I got mine 3 years back from Reliance Autozone for Rs 150 I think. Till now never required to use it. Touch wood.
My 390's jam nut went loose on the shock tube. I could see the play since last week and thought it was due to brake pads. But today I could clear see the play. Got it tightened instantly.2007 - Hero Honda CBZ Xtreme

Re: KTM Duke 390 - Owners Reviews and Experiences
Even I was surprised when I came to know that almost all bikes (including all the major superbikes) have a screw to adjust idling rpm. The FI and ECU part handles the rpm, but as far as I know, the idling rpm is set by the screw.Originally posted by krish2778 View PostDoes sound like a ECU problem, maybe the maps are faulty, flashing the ecu or replacing it with a new one should do the trick.

Re: KTM Duke 390 - Owners Reviews and Experiences
I agree with you. I call it the idling screw for lack of a better term. This actually adjusts your throttle, hence, the rpm is always greater than the rpm set by ecu.Originally posted by riazmomin View PostThat screw mentioned here is not the idling screw. --> To make it stand securely in your parking lot (side stands lean at one side)
--> Self service like Chain tightening, cleaning & lubing (which you need to do quite often in open-chained bikes more so with D390 because of the extra-torque)
--> Mending rear tire punctures
Does anybody have a rear tire huger for D200/D390 in Bangalore which is lying around and dont mind giving it?

Re: KTM Duke 390 - Owners Reviews and Experiences
yup, just got mine replaced as well.no official calls.bike had visited svc to fix an loose exhaust mount issue.also better cooling systems/engine coming for the 390 by last quarter this year.2015 model to have redesigned engine cooling system, better quality everything in fact.from the chief service in charge there.good news for those buying the 400cs/duke next year.Originally posted by nishant rao View Posti had been to the SVC today to change my front brake pads as there was alot of squeaking sound while braking. during that time they changed the tray located under the seat that connects the rear number plate holder. they are fitting this to every bike as the previous part was very weak and hence people use to complain about the number plate holder breaking off...this is the part

Thanks for the clarification.
So since these bikes don't have a center stand, one has to pay a premium and buy this paddock stand (if really needed)!

The center stand's absence has a strong reason. And its not cost cuttingOriginally posted by SatSon View PostThanks for the clarification.

Please understand the main stand is a severe hindrance while tight cornering and also adds weight.
Many high capacity bikes don't have these and specially with D390 which is made for cornering with those high profile tires & brakes it doesnt make any sense.
