How many of you have opted for zero depreciation insurance? I heard that not all companies offer that option for 390. Is it true?

Nice review there, mate.Originally posted by Pianist View Post. Now, I'm 5'6'' and 65 kilos, your average Indian.
I feel that the CBR is more suited for someone with a bigger frame, and at least 5'10''.
Doesn't the Duke's 810mm seat height bother you as compared to 790mm seat height of CBR?It's a lot like nuts and bolts - if the rider's nuts, the ride - bolts!

Hey Sal, it's not just about seat height, is it ? The KTM's seat is narrower.
The CBR seat is wider, so your legs have to go around them on the way to the ground, right?
That being said, the higher seat height and the lesser width of the KTM kinda nullify each other, so that for a person my height and weight, it comes to almost the same thing !
The KTM however feels more "natural" in only this sense when you're NOT in motion ( the CBR 250R's seat softness is much more comfortable), since, in real life, you hardly prefer keeping your legs apart, than keeping them together.

I got zero dep insurance from New India. AFAIK only a couple of companies offer zero dep for two wheelers and new india just started some months back. The showroom I got it from has tie up with bajaj and I found that zero dep from new india was a bit cheaper than comprehensive from bajaj !!Originally posted by Adarsh_Bk View PostHow many of you have opted for zero depreciation insurance? I prefer the duke seating as even if the seat is a bit hard, the position is much more natural.Originally posted by Pianist View PostHey Sal, it's not just about seat height, is it ? The KTM's seat is narrower.

Thanks a lot timuseravan. The KTM showroom here doesnt offer zero dep insurance, he said I have to get it done myself! Let me talk to New India and check.Originally posted by timuseravan View PostI got zero dep insurance from New India. Btw, you too got it done yourself? Renewing insurance online is easy but I am not sure of the process involved for a new bike.

Windscreen support:
for a while, i have been wanting to make a windscreen support for the fazer screen, for added support and stability. Only could make it yesterday and installed it this morning.
Its a simple solution, 1.2mm MS sheet, bent at two places with holes for mounting, coated orange. the bracket connected the two OEM holes on the fazer windscreen, to the bolt which fastens the console and headlamp assembly. The clamp is attached to the windscreen with M4 black allen bolts (merges with the windscreen colour), with a spring washer in between, to minimize chances of loosening.
Verdict: tested it this morning. much much sturdier then before. No vibes/ shakes, feels solid. some pics from phone cam:Last edited by nasirkaka; 02-13-2014, 12:14 PM.

I too have got zero dep from New India. It is true that not all companies provide zero dep insurance. New India is one of the few which does. I think ICICI Lombard does it, why not ask them whether they would do it for d390?Originally posted by Adarsh_Bk View PostHow many of you have opted for zero depreciation insurance? Re: KTM Duke 390 - Owners Reviews and Experiences
Hi Guys
A friend of mine in NCR has a 390 and has been facing problems of the bike having a very high engine idling speed and at the same time the engine cuts off when cold intermittently. The SVC guys have been unable to fix either of the two issues.
Any experiences of the same and solutions?
Help will greatly be appreciated.
Cheers
Biking is not about what you have between your legs, its all about how well you use it!!!!!!!

Talked to Icici guys, they quoted 5.9k for insurance (in which zero depreciation was 1.1k) for declared value of 1,96,000. @timuseravan, what was the declared value of your bike? The normal bajaj insurance was around 4.4k, if New India offers zero dep for this price, I have to go searching for their office now
@nasirkaka : Looks neat.. good work!

I dont remember the exact value but it was around 4K. A family friend is an agent for new india. So I didnt have to do much except sign the forms and pay the moneyOriginally posted by Adarsh_Bk View PostTalked to Icici guys, they quoted 5.9k for insurance (in which zero depreciation was 1.1k) for declared value of 1,96,000. @timuseravan, what was the declared value of your bike? nasirkaka, the support job looks great. How is the fazer windscreen post 110 kmph in terms of wind blast? Are you in Pune by chance?KTM Duke 390 | RE Interceptor 650

Not well versed with D390 features but if it has an O2 sensor, it might need to be looked into.Originally posted by The Monk View PostHi Guys

Also, the idling would be high if a lot of air/fuel is entering the chamber. We can rule out excess fuel for now (assuming injectors are proper). Hence, air filtering mechanism would need to be checked. Regarding the intermittent cut off, a complete check of the electricals and a multi-meter check of the O2 sensor (if there is one) would reveal the truth IMO.Got a $5 head? Get a $5 helmet.
