Re: KTM Duke 390 - Owners Reviews and Experiences
Yes, the timing can be adjusted and it won't require any parts replacement. In case if any part is faulty you can ask for replacement under warranty. Probiking svcs are quite supportive.Originally posted by maverim View PostThanks for the info Junaid. so the ignition timing can be adjusted/Fine tuned ..?? should i ask for replacement of any part that may be faulty?

Re: KTM Duke 390 - Owners Reviews and Experiences
Thanks a lot.Good to know that I can use normal petrol because I can avoid searching for premium fuel during emergencies. Going to stick to normal petrol from tomorrow.Originally posted by junaid12345678 View PostAlmost all of us have been using normal petrol and never had any problems or found any difference between premium and normal fuel. However according to Bajaj/Ktm the bike is supposed to run fine with normal fuel and it did so during the initial testing phase but I do still wonder how its possible for an engine with such a high compression ratio that is similar to the big multi cylinder liter class mahines to run without pinging or detonation. There are ECU's that can avoid this to a great extent by adjusting the ratio according to the quality of the fuel used but such ecu's are frigging expensive and are found only in high end sbk's.
Its not good to mix fuels of different octane ratings but can be done under emergency and afterwards fill with any one type of fuel and just stick to it.

Yes I mean speed 97.I think there is only two or three bunks in chennai which has speed 97.At present I have half tank of speed 97.can I fill it with normal petrol now or should I wait until the bike goes into reserve and then fill it up with normal petrol. My first service is due in another 150 kms.Should I ask the svc to clean the tank during service or can I continue without cleaning? Thanks.Originally posted by AmitRavi07 View PostSpeed does not have a higher octane rating unless you mean Speed 97. Normal Speed and normal petrol have the same octane rating (91), the difference being the additives that come added in Speed. So don't worry, get a reliable bunk and fill it with normal petrol. Although I have found that Speed 97 does increase the performance of bike.

How are you going to remove it when you next want to change the oil?

Re: KTM Duke 390 - Owners Reviews and Experiences
Its better to ride till reserve with speed 97 and fill with normal petrol afterwards. But remember, speed 97 yeilds maximum performance from the machine. There is absolutely no need of cleaning as both are clean fuels.Originally posted by Saba View PostThanks a lot.Good to know that I can use normal petrol because I can avoid searching for premium fuel during emergencies. Re: KTM Duke 390 - Owners Reviews and Experiences
Yes I know that speed 97 extracts maximum performance but the nearest bunk which has speed 97 is almost 15kms from my house. Its difficult to go and fill petrol there everytime.so I want to stick with normal petrol. I travel often and drive 70 to 80kms daily. So finding premium fuel is a headache.thanks for your advice.Originally posted by junaid12345678 View PostIts better to ride till reserve with speed 97 and fill with normal petrol afterwards. Re: KTM Duke 390 - Owners Reviews and Experiences

For the third time, i found the right side USD fork leaking today.
At first leak (3000kms), the seal was replaced, at 2nd leak (6500kms) the entire down-tube with seal was replaced, and the leak is surfaced again at 8500kms.
All the 3 times, its been the same right side fork.
How much does a new USD fork cost? Are the available in pair or can one buy a single also?
Apart from this, some oil leak from the engine head and oil filter cap area.. All this is getting very frustrating..
My C5 gives me less headache then my 390.. and better mileage too..
PS. service engineer says i can ride normally with a leaking fork, until rectified. Can i?Last edited by nasirkaka; 07-05-2014, 01:47 PM.

Re: KTM Duke 390 - Owners Reviews and Experiences
Went to Kasturba Road SVC today for the starter issue. They kept the bike for some "Shim" adjustment
.
Service engineer told this has nothing to do with the Ignition timing or ecu.
My Duke 390 again at SVC for the 4th time within the first month
. But am happy its gonna be completely OK, once the starting issue is fixed

Re: KTM Duke 390 - Owners Reviews and Experiences
A lot of things such as clogged fuel injector, failing fuel pump, clogged fuel filter etc can cause starting issues but as your bike is pretty new, such things can be ruled out. Shims won't cause starting issues normally but can cause power loss and tappet noise while the engine is running.Originally posted by maverim View PostWent to Kasturba Road SVC today for the starter issue. You are feeling sad just because its the 4th time. You will feel much better as you get used to the SVC visits
If you worried about falling off the bike, you'd never get on.

Re: KTM Duke 390 - Owners Reviews and Experiences
USD fork can be sourced as single or as a pair according to the need. Secondly, recently a dad and son combo in my hometown totaled their 390 overtaking a bus, dad was the pillion, luckily both escaped with just a few bruises. The bike took a major blow , with forks going to smithereens and chassis bent, and total front end replacement. I got this information when I was there to adjust my chain slack.Originally posted by nasirkaka View Post

According to the SVC per fork costs 9,000 bucks~
Chassis costs 9000 bucks~
Wheel rim costs 3500(front) ~
I'd suggest get both your forks replaced or the defective one replaced altogether, not just the downtube.
The O ring on most bikes do weep some oil when the bike is on a spirited ride, that shouldn't be a problem. You can use Anabond sealant or use a gasket sealant to keep the weep trim.Originally posted by AkshayA View PostHello guys,
I am facing a peculiar problem of engine oil leaking from the oil cap (the cap which is opened to pour in the engine oil). I have got the ring inside it changed, still did not stop, again went to the svc and got cap changed, did not stop, used the cap of another Duke, still did not stop
The metal surface seems fine....any pointers to what could be a fix to this problem?
Just wondering, "used the cap of another Duke" stole them?

Cheers!

The girl said, 'NO!'

2. Rynox nomad v2

1. Viaterra claw : Good capacity but keep in mind this is tail + saddle bag so you won't be able to use rear seat. Also it is Reasonably priced
2. Rynox nomad v2 : good capacity but pricey, check the fit. If price is ok for you you can go for it
3. DirtSack : I've it, best fit for KTM. Quality is ok but only downside is small size, if you are looking for long trip and carrry lot of luggage then this bag is not for you

Re: KTM Duke 390 - Owners Reviews and Experiences
have used the rynox nomad v2 for more than 4k + km, quality is very good. pillion will have difficulties to use the rear seat as the foot rest are cover by the bag. the stickers on the side of the rear seat may get torn off a bit. mine got little bit on left side.Originally posted by addyrulz01 View PostI am planning to get saddlebags for my duke.
