Re: KTM Duke 390 - Owners Reviews and Experiences
Mine came with less than 10 km on the clock. Insist that the bike be picked up in your presence from the warehouse. Escalate it to KTM if required.Originally posted by karthik_k View PostRide more, browse less.

Re: KTM Duke 390 - Owners Reviews and Experiences
Mine had 2 kms when I recently took delivery of my D200. I have seen the bikes are carried on a Tata Ace bench/platform at the rear with high strength ropes/wires holding on the bike on dedicated rolling platform on which the tyres rest. The seats and handle have sponge padding to avoid the scratches from the rope/wire being used to tie them down. I actually loved the way they delivery the bikes. This is in Hyderabad though.Originally posted by karthik_k View PostGuys, need a clarification.
Question is, do you guys had some kms clocked on odo when you tookk delivery? How to deal with this?Regards,

Re: KTM Duke 390 - Owners Reviews and Experiences
I had around 16 kms on the odo when i picked up my bike. It was around the same for all the other bikes in the showroom too. The distance was from their warehouse to the showroom.Originally posted by karthik_k View PostGuys, need a clarification.
Enquired about 390 at three showrooms in chennai, I couldn't find any stock there except probiking at Adyar. Showroom staffs say they can deliver in a day or two but they need to get it from their warehouse. They don't haul it via trucks, instead mechs ride it to the showroom. I saw couple of 390/200s being ripped as if they give a damn to who is going to own it & the halts are all screeching halts. They burn rubber, try to do wheelie from signals etc. They race within their gang, say two or three dukes being ridden by three mechs. I was like, what the he**. Every bike in the showroom has 15-25kms on odo already. When asked, the staff says its testing. They test the bikes for fauklt & repair it so that the customer won't have to report issues on new bike. I'm no way convinced by this.

The showroom manager had earlier offered me the option of going to the warehouse and picking up the bike myself as well which i thought was good. But I finally ended up picking it up from the showroom itself due to my busy schedule.
Ask the showroom manager whether you can pick up the bike from the warehouse yourself. They shouldnt normally deny your request. Most motorcycle problems are caused by the nut that connects the handlebars to the saddle!

anilp, akash, Pain, thanks for your inputs. I'll talk to the staff about taking delivery from warehouse then. That is much better.
^Akash - I wish all other showrooms follow this delivery method.

I took the delivery of my duke 390 at adyar probiking showroom. My odo reading was 4kms.You will get the delivery of the bike in one or two days only if you pay full cash.If you book your bike in adyar probiking showroom and if you reside in areas coming under thiruvanmyur rto you can get your bike in one day, otherwise it will take two or three days.Their warehouse is at jai bajaj adyar which is also the ktm probiking service centre. It is next to sangeetha hotel.Originally posted by karthik_k View PostGuys, need a clarification.

Re: KTM Duke 390 - Owners Reviews and Experiences
Along with the invoice of the bike, there will be a document from bajaj showing proof of sale from bajaj to your dealershipOriginally posted by fz16_np View PostNeed help guys. Can anybody please be able to tell me if it be possible to find the manufacturing month of 390?. We can come to know the year of manufacture in the following link (Though 2014 is not mentioned, the 8th digit from right should be "E" for 2014) but is it possible to know the month of manufacture by any ways while selecting the vehicle or before taking the delivery?
KTM Vin Number Identification Chart : AOMC Customer Support
Before that I am afraid there is no sure way of knowing what's what...
That's how I came to know my first duke was manufactured in Nov '13
The procedure of alphabet 'd' for 2013 and 'e' for 2014 doesn't apply to Indian bikes as far as I know. I read somewhere on the internet that it only applies to European lot shipped from Austria !

Re: KTM Duke 390 - Owners Reviews and Experiences
Got my 390 in Apr 2014. It's March manufactured as per invoice.
It came with 2 KM on the ODO and Battery was not connected yet, which was done in front of me as part of PDI inspection.
When I asked explanation of tge 2 KM. Head mechanic told me that the digital meters are tested for functionality on a machine before putting it on the bike... Not sure as to how true that was... As there were 2 in stock. I did my inspection and picked one...
Post PDI head mechanic confirmed that bikes engine was smooth and no knocking as he observed in few bikes back in 2013.
So far done 1500 km and doing fine without any issues what people had been reporting....

My bike had around 15 kms clocked on odometer because the showroom manager had to take the bike to RTO for registration.Originally posted by karthik_k View PostGuys, need a clarification.

Got a new lid yesterday. SOL sl68s unicorn 2 with LESs at back. I had decided that I would take the Matt black colour but when the shopkeeper told me that orange colour is available, I changed my decision immediately. :P Costed me 5760 rs.

Re: KTM Duke 390 - Owners Reviews and Experiences
I was persistent to get a bike with nothing but ZERO kilometres on the ODO. But the justification I got for that 2 KM of testing at plant was fair enough...
Anything more that that very high chances of bike being ripped by showroom guys. Certainly I would not buy such a bike when I am paying 2+ Lac of my hard earned money...

I also had around 2km on the ODO. I think 2-3 km is the standard.Originally posted by vinayduke View PostI was persistent to get a bike with nothing but ZERO kilometres on the ODO. But the justification I got for that 2 KM of testing at plant was fair enough...
