I have done about 8000kms. There is always been some sweating from the engine head and around the oil filter cap area. Have reported this in all the services and they have claimed to tighten the bolts, but the sweating comes back. I am from bullet background, so kind of used to this. BUT is this something i should worry about on my 390?

This should not happen at all on any bike. Sit on their heads till they sort it out. The bullets are a lost cause wrt. leaks

Most motorcycle problems are caused by the nut that connects the handlebars to the saddle!

This should technically not happen, but Dukes are known for having a "weak" gasket. Demand from the svc to replace the rubber seals of engine cover bolts and the gasket. There should not be any seepage from any area.

thanks!! will raise a complaint with KTM. I guess thats a better way of attracting the service folks attention, as with every complaint, they have to send back a 'satisfaction' form.

We are on the same boat buddy. My 390 too leaks a lot.

Anybody else facing this leaking problem?

Ever wondered how fast a 390 with an akrapovic can go? vs a 690?

Don't know what exactly has been done to the bike but found this video on youtube

                  • WTF was that man! 193!
I can only imagine the windblast that the guy must be taking.
I didn't have the guts to push it more than 160 on the NICE road! And it felt like a roofless aeroplane ready for take off! :P

Hi guys, just took delivery of my duke 390(midnight black) yesterday.its already 200 kms on the odo.I want to change my engine oil and oil filter.I have read in many websites suggesting to change the engine oil early to take away the metal debris in the engine to make the engine breathe better.I dont mind spending money, its just that I want to take good care of my bike.I also hear a plastic noise coming from somewhere when I go over a bump and when I shift gears.I am unable to find from the sound is coming.other than this I have no problem with the bike.its a pleasure to drive the beast.I just cant wait to finish the run-in.At present I am maintaining my speed below 7500rpm, is it ok? Or should I maintain lesser rpm?

One of my friend did 180+ many times, that too a couple of times alongside Ninja 300. So you know what your bike can achieve now

Congrats mate on owning a hooligan of a bike

And you dont really have to change engine oil, but you can surely do it and you have to go for Motul 7100 10W50.

That plastic sound when you go over speed bump is mostly the tyre hugger hitting the rear part of the bike, nothing can be done about it apart from removing tyre hugger. Gear shifts do make a thud sound. Heard it reduces with time but mine is 5.3k on ODO and still makes a loud thud

Shouldn't you be suggesting a mineral oil instead of FS OIL for a bike which has done only 200kms. ??

KTM is extremely strict about the type of oil being used, they are not even letting people use Motul 300V! They even go the extent of saying they will void the warranty if any other oil is used. So keeping him informed regarding it.

Moreover, this engine heats up a lot in city traffic and adding to the high compression, not many oils can take the abuse. Mineral oils are a strict no-no.

oh my God! thats super cool, so similar modifications on RC 390 might see the RC touch/cross 200kmph barrier..

N300 does have a top speed in 190s. Therefore RC390 could reach 200kmph with some modifications.
