What are you using for cleaning ?Originally posted by shootingstar View PostDo it yourself, why pay such hefty amount for such a small job. I use SAE90 oil for lubing but it has to be done every 10-15days. Its very economical and recommended by ktm.

@Samarth 619, Fantastic review!!! But are the graphs correct? There is sharp drop off at around 9000 rmp. Should this not be at 10500 rpm?KTM Duke 390 | RE Interceptor 650

Anyone installed a GPS on the bike? I am planning to use the MapMyIndia GPS. Anyone done any mod for power supply and attaching the GPS device to Handlebars?

Don't know about power supply, but you can use this to fix the device on the handle bars: RYNOX | HOMEOriginally posted by Lateriser View PostAnyone installed a GPS on the bike? I am planning to use the MapMyIndia GPS. Anyone done any mod for power supply and attaching the GPS device to Handlebars?
Ride safe and have fun.

You're right. These graphs are not that reliable. I think maybe they tested the stock Duke with improper throttling, or in unsuitable weather or a smoke filled/ suffocated room.Originally posted by timuseravan View Post@Samarth 619, Fantastic review!!! Although, they're mostly right about the low end torque.
Mine has a specific problem. Even if I keep the clutch lever pressed, and slow down rapidly, the bike stalls. Somehow, slowing down seems to have an effect, I don't know what exactly, but its most certainly related to Fuelling or Fi.Originally posted by NitinGirish View PostAgree with most bits in the review except the switching off part. Rider needs to throttle it a bit thats it. Not an issue, after riding for couple of days, one gets the hang of it.
Realistic tank range would be ~250kms. Riding at 70kmph on a highway? Next to impossible I would say. Also, 6th gear needs atleast 70kmph and anything below it feels like lugging the engine.
Your bike looks nice and shiny. Did you detail it or you got it like that from the showroom?
As for tank range, I'm actually getting 250 kms within city itself. On highways, I expect it to be better.
Didn't get the part in bold. Riding at 70 is impossible? I'm approximately 70 kgs and for me, 6th gear does around 60 kmph somewhat comfortably. Yes, slight lugging is felt, but its maintainable as long as roads are stable & good. 50 is the bare minimum, that is if you insist riding in 6th only.
But yes, I agree that the acceptable torque is around 70 kmph only, and riding under that in top gear is anyways a compromise.
No specific detail/ treatment of the bike. I just try keeping it clean.
Since its under the cover, I couldn't check the front teeth count physically on my own bike.Originally posted by jaswave125 View PostJust wanted to confirm this I though the duke 390 had a 15/45 gearing?
On the internet too, there's a confusion.
According to KTM official website, the Duke 390 2014 model is supposed to have 15:45 (on X Ring chain), but many sites who reviewed this bike said it has 14:45.... It could be that there were minor internal changes to gearing from 2013 to 2014.
Mine is a 2013 model. I'll check it and get back to you. Will edit my review post accordingly.

Thank you so much guys for the feedback. This is my 4th proper review after the Apache RTR 160/ 180 (combined) & Pulsar 220 DTSi...
I'm still learning & will keep learning more. This review could've been better if I had more time, but since I'm a lecturer in a private college, couldn't take out much time.

A lot of us here are facing this problem. The exact cause has not yet been determined as the issue is very random.Originally posted by Samarth 619 View PostMine has a specific problem. After 7500kms and 5 Months of ownership. I faced this problem today. Stopped multiple times when I engage clutch to use front brake. Later on used engine braking and rear brake so that it wont stall and it did not.Originally posted by timuseravan View PostA lot of us here are facing this problem. This has happened to me as well. have u or the service people played with the slow speed? Raise it a bit if it were lowered. That actually rectified the issue for me. Post it here if the issue was solved.Originally posted by riazmomin View PostAfter 7500kms and 5 Months of ownership. I faced this problem today. What do you mean by Slow speed? Did you meant idling? If yes, then it is controlled by ECU.Originally posted by backlash4u View PostThis has happened to me as well. have u or the service people played with the slow speed? Its not controlled by ECU. it can be adjusted using an Allen key. I have done it myself. believe me. try increasing the idle rpm. it might solve it. You might have noticed that when you raise the rpm to a higher level and suddenly let go of the throttle the rpm goes a bit under the idle rpm and the stabilizes to the idle rpm. I think that might be the reason why the bike stalls. I am not sure about this. But from my logic I think that's the problem and raising the idle rpm is the solution to that. I am not saying this is a perfect solution at all. Try it. If you want I can put pics to show where the idle rpm adjust screw is. Nice name huh? Idle rpm adjust screw. And I thought of that. Yey ME!!!!

Sure, would love to see the pics of where this is located.Originally posted by backlash4u View PostIts not controlled by ECU. it can be adjusted using an Allen key. My bike has not been touched engine wise.
Certain Observation I could make out is, Since last 10-15 days. It was not starting in first try when I start the bike after long gap. At least 8-9 hours. earlier I did not had this issue. But Since last two day, bikes starts only after two times I press the starter button and turn off the ignition every time.
