1900rs labour seems valid to me since mechanic worked a whole day with my bike.
Are not these prices are fixed by Bajaj only the svc can change the type of service done if liked to reduce the cost.
the motul inugel expert (dark green color) still costs the same (iirc its Rs.195 mrp for the 1 litre bottle). this is what the svc mostly uses (i've never seen a svc around where i live use the motocool expert). so does your coolant appear pale yellow or the usual dark green?

the motul motocool expert (pale yellow color) costs around Rs.425 per litre. i used this (bought it myself on amazon) when i replaced the coolant a year ago.

and after all this repair, the engine oil was not changed ? if not, go ahead and change it.

yes bajaj fixes some labor rates and usually they are supposed to display the rate chart in the svc. but seldom do they follow it.

Green color only. So they use Inguel and bill us for motocool.
I thought of do the same but I was not sure about difference between them.
I have 300v and used them 4k kms will change after 2k kms.

I have left my 2013 model, 22,200 kms run Duke 390 for general service at KTM Banaswadi. The technician noticed that the throttle is a little hard and initially suggested replacing throttle cable. Later, he also suggested to check and replace throttle body. Little bit of googling revealed that all it needs is cleaning which the SVC will probably not do.

I am thinking of calling him tomorrow and asking him to leave the throttle alone. Is it a good idea or should I go with throttle body replacement which costs 6.5k.

Not really. Check the throttle cable for frays and wrong routing. Properly routed throttle cable would mean it's free and smooth. Replace the throttle cable, clean the throttle body springs and in case you haven't cleaned your throttle body, a throttle body clean is definitely recommended. Over time, throttle cables develop slack and get frayed and restrict throttle play motion. Start off with the throttle cable.

          Cheers!

don't ever replace the throttle body!!
cleaning the throttle body is sufficient and isn't a difficult job, but as you said these svc guys just want to milk money without putting in honest labor. a little bit of talking and you could probably convince them to clean the tb.
or get yourself a can of carb/throttle body cleaner and squirt it in via the air filter box on to the tb plate.. a crude way that does a bit of cleaning. that's how i did it on my 3yr/ 30k km run d200 recently.
as for thethrottle cable , either replace it or you can try to first clean it by flushing it with petrol ( drip in petrol from the top side and work the cable by pulling and pushing it a few times as u drip in the petrol).

Thank You gentlemen for the pointers. I will just ask him to do the basic service and leave out everything else.

So I got my bike back day before yesterday. Didn't do anything to the throttle body. Chain sprocket was replaced and throttle cable too. Now the bike is performing like it should be!! What a world of difference chain sprocket makes!!

Service centers are quite useless. They ask if we have any complaints, but they don't address them! Why do the 'natak' of asking then.

Just to inflate the bill and do nothing. Easy way to make money. Isn't it?
Strong time to have consumer protection laws, if not, DIY people count goes up and service centers business and employment goes down. Day by day, i see more people are getting more knowledge from manuals/youtube and excellent forums like this. People started to spend a weekend with their bike and fix it rather than spending at service center with sad face and anger.

Youtube is good for general servicing, oil change, etc. For specific complaints, a knowledgable mechanic is a must. Unless one has loads of time.

Other than pulling engine out of the chassis, everything is easy. Timing chain, tappets tweaking, etc. These should be left out to professionals.
You just need to keep using your god given Head to understand the issue, whats causing it and refer manual/net to find where it is located. And of course you should find time to do it and be prepared to get your hands dirty. Changing clutch plates is easy too. Even though its in the engine block. Take a phone. Keep recording while you dismantle. Refer the video and do a reverse to put new clutch kit.

Mine is a 2 yr old D390 with 18k on the odo. Did the following some days back:
                          1. Chain sprocket kit change,
                          2. Oil seal change as the coolant was mixing with the engine oil and the bike was stalling with a "High engine temperature" warning every 10-15 minutes.
Now, Bike runs like new. Chain sprocket change is the best thing that has happened to my bike.
Total Bill amt was Rs.5,335/-. Bill attached. Hope it helps..

Changed the engine oil and fuel fuel filter.
Its tough to change the fuel filter ourselves.

Routine maintenance done. First DIY oil change & coolant change. Pretty simple to follow the manual. Chain slack adjusted, cleaned and lubed. Gave it a nice waterwash as well

By the way I saw the error JG_1.7.4 popup on my bike. Has anyone else seen this error? Online search points to possible battery issue. Mine is due for replacement.

Not bad. From almost selling the bike to a DIY, time changes everything. The error that you see, can be either a faulty battery or faulty stator coil/RR. Check the battery voltage with a multimeter with the engine running at 5k RPM, the voltage at the battery terminals should be 13.5 to 15v. Check the battery voltage when the engine turned off, and check the voltage after an hour, it should be no less than 12.4 any thing lesser than 12.3, your battery is deteriorating. Replacement is necessary.

                                Cheers!
