Re: KTM Duke 390 - Ownership Reviews and Experiences
The offer of the ER-6N is very tempting. There are a couple of things though. Maintenance and running costs are going to be on the higher side.Originally posted by themachinehead View PostHello guys. A quick question.
A friend of mine is selling his kawa 650 er6n for about 3.ishh
I was finalised on duke but this offer is tempting. It has 10k on the odo and a year old. It has no issues since the bike is known in friends circle.
Shall i go for it or the new duke 390. Also for that price i can get a new yzf r3. What say?
Availability of spares is still a concern for the Kawasakis.
But at Rs. 3L, it is by far one of the best buys.

Re: KTM Duke 390 - Ownership Reviews and Experiences
It is too much fun to ride. I miss riding it when I am forced to take car out for my commuting. Every time I ride, it always feels like riding for first time. Haven't got bored of it yet.
ABS, Have to thank it for saving me more than couple of times.
Handling, the little fun part of your daily commute is when you lean into corners.
Largely trouble free.
Cheap to maintain.
Decent mileage of 28 KMPL for 373cc single cylinder motor.
What can be improved?
Improved plastic quality and switchgear.
Better build quality of cone set.
Better cable management.
Larger fuel tank. Not a major issue, but nice to have.
EDIT: Mods, Bullets are not working. Not Royal Enfield ones!

Can you please elaborate on these issues like current mileage you are getting and the heating issue? Have you completed the first service? Would be helpful for me. Am thinking of buying it in coming week.Last edited by roamer; 07-05-2016, 01:41 PM.

I had 2014 duke but I used to get 25-26 kmpl mileage in city and on an average 29-30kmpl on highway.Originally posted by Rohith Rot View Postyou have mentioned you are getting 28 KMPL , is it 2016 duke 390 or older , because i have .
Regarding heating I think you are terming it wrong, is your bike stalling and MID showing high coolant temperature? If yes then get radiator fan and thermostat checked, radiator fan could be working but not at enough speed to cool engine off, if bike is not stalling then bike is absolutely normal.

Your bike appears to be pretty new, so expect lower mileage. It will gradually increase and also depends on your riding style.
Heating issue is there when I am in heavy traffic. Other than that no issue. I never had "High Coolant Temperature" message on MID and it rarely touches all the heat bars.2007 - Hero Honda CBZ Xtreme

Re: KTM Duke 390 - Ownership Reviews and Experiences
That's a sweet deal for ER6n. If you are not worried about service cost which would be like maintaining a car, go for it. It's a great bike except for the lack of ABS, if I'm not wrong. I assume the service cost would be around 5k to 6k and twice a year if you commute about 15k Kms in a year. If this is fine, you can pretty much close your eyes and buy that. The quality of Kawasaki is known to be better than KTM as well. ER6n performance is way better than R3 and seating position is better than R3 for long journeys. One thing you have to keep in mind is weight of the bike. If you find difficulty in taking out RE's from cramped parking lots, then ER6n weight should be of concern. I would say go for ER6n!Originally posted by themachinehead View PostHello guys. A quick question.

Yeah that's the only grump. It has no abs despite the power it offers. Thanks for the pointers man.Originally posted by Skanda View PostThat's a sweet deal for ER6n. 1. Mileage depends on riding style and conditions.Originally posted by Rohith Rot View Postno stalling nothing, no high coolant temperature either. it is a 1 MONTH old bike. anyways thank you for letting me know.
2. With more power comes more heat. (here its extracted from a single cylinder as well)
If you refer these as "issues", you wont be a happy rider of the 390 mate!Pegasus - 2011* - Hero Honda Karizma ZMR
