Every next day there'll be a new model in the market. If you could wait, wait a little more even after its launch, till you get reviews from the owners(2017). Because there's a chance that the first few slot bikes may come with glitches.
I hope the current 2016 model is a well refined one now.
Get the 2016 390, Wait for 2017 390 and buy on launch or wait few months after launch and buy the 2017 390.
If you've the patience to wait, my suggestion would be to wait.
PS: it's a rendered image and not Officially released image.

Rendered image is very close to spy shots. However my patience is running out. I guess minimum i have to wait for 2017 duke would be 6 months 😞

Engine is the same. 390cc, 44 bhp. & the present bike is very gud. So, why wait. Ya, I'd have asked you to wait if it was a matter of 2-3 months. But, this one will take a lot of time, maybe close to a year.

          Yes may be a year.

Add to it another 6 months to help KTM fix any erring issues present on the bike. Remember, even initial batches of bikes like R3, Himalayan, CBR were recalled/ parts replaced by the manufacturers. If you can wait, then it's alright. Otherwise, according to me buy the Duke right now. It's a damn good bike.

too good. We were only able to travel halfway till rakkcham(in cars) would definitely like to complete the tour next time on bikes of course.

How did the front Metz handle on those roads? I'm planning Ladhak in some time and wanted to know if I need to change rear Metz with Michelin.

Semi off road set of tyres would be ideal right?

He has used Metzeler(stock) at the Front and CEAT Vertigo(130/80/17) at the rear. You can do it with Metzelers but they sure will wear out. They are more puncture prone and loose grip off tarmac.

Yup, I noticed that. Thanks for the info on Metz. Then I will go with Michelin before my journey. Will swap back to Metz after coming back till it's life is over and use Michelin.

I don't want to purchase multiple Tyres just for Ladhak. Semi off road ones does not provide enough grip on normal roads considering 390's acceleration and won't use it after Metz life is over. Thanks for the suggestion!
