It did good in moderate slush but slipped on a few occasions in gravel and sand but stabilized instantly. I had mrf meteor 120/80-17 at the rear, bought it specifically for the himalayas for just 2100 and would recommend it for such aggressive terrain. Tread pattern of michelin is quite similar to the metzeler which means they are meant for tarmac and though would perform better than metz in offroad conditions, they wont be near to the tires with deep tread patterns like the meteor, moreover they are highly unlikely to get punctured. Yes these tyres don't do VERY well on highways but they do the job, I was cruising at 120-130 with no problem and I personally dont go beyond that, come on it's not moto gp out there.

I have the same tyre on my RTR 180 and I don't like how they corner and their grip while hard breaking. However, it should be good for broken roads. Did 120 fit the rims of duke without any fuss?

that's because it is not made for cornering and yes hard braking may cause problem for non abs bikes. The 120 fits the duke nicely

                    [Ownership update]
So after 3 months of ownership and daily commuting with the duke, I have decided to give it a rest and use it only for touring.
                    The reason
1: I was never able to use the bike to it's potential in the Delhi-Noida traffic. Using 4th gear is a dream and there are only 1-2 spots where I could do it safely
2: Bike is giving low mileage, starting from 23 km/l to recent 19 km/l. I guess due to regular jams on the route. On highway, it returned around 25km/l and should do fine even now I guess

I would have really loved to use duke for daily commutes, but this petrol-sucking traffic nightmare in India won't allow me to.
Also, I wonder if the always on headlamp can be a culprit for lower mileage ?? Anyone having 2016 duke facing lower mileages.
Has anybody tried to implement a switch for turning off the main light and only keep the parking light as DRL ?
                    Busy finding peace

This is one of the reasons for Duke 200's existence.

B2b traffic is never meant for the 390s, highways and twisties is where the duke is the king, if u want a all around the duke 200 or a CBR 250 is ideal for all situations in my view, but the duke for performance overshadows the ceeber , I'm really interested to see how 2017 duke is, I might trade in my bike .

I regularly get a mileage of 22 to 24kmpl in Bangalore traffic. Lowest was 19kmpl but my Tyre pressure was very less which was the reason for low mileage. Max I got was 30kmpl on highway and with a top speed of 140kmph. The headlight does not affect mileage in any way and when the engine is on, it can provide way more power even to charge power banks and aux lights along with headlight. It's more to do with battery & generator and nothing related to mileage.

                          • Weird knocking noise from engine

My KTM has developed a knocking noise that seems to be coming from somewhere down in the engine cases. I only hear the noise at idle, and it goes away as soon as I open the throttle. Otherwise, the engine runs perfectly. so I hope this knocking isn't a sign of an impending major failure.

The local mechanic says I should not worry to much, but most of the motorcycles he works on are not bigger than 150cc. So, what should I do?

Sounds like a rattling clutch housing.
