I like fared bikes. But there have been no mechanical upgrade to Cbr since launch and i fear its discontinuation anytime soon.
But duke390's power is exhilarating. Im not a fan of dukes exhaust note but slipper clutch, metz, abs and all of dukes package is very tempting.
My ride is mix of city and highway. Please help me choose.
Exhaust note, you will get used to it. And it sounds nice after 80kmph.

CBR is is pending an update since long. International markets have already got the new versions, where as in India we are getting repainted versions.

Mine is 2013 September Duke 390. Done close to 40000 KMs and 90% of it in City and primarily used for commuting in moderate to heavy traffic.
Unless you cant handle a heavy clutch, 390 is never a problem in city too.

There have been niggles about the 390 like leaking head, broken rim, overheating in traffic, stalling. How many have you faced? Has it been rectified in 2016 edition?
My ride is 50-50 highway and city. I have ridden cbr and it felt like i will be bored pretty soon with the power it offers.
I don't own any motorcycle now so i mostly travel by car. I used to own a hero honda passion back in the days and moved directly to 4 wheeler. So it will be a huge jump. Although i have been riding 150s and 200s now and then. Courtesy friends.
But now i crave for my very own monster.
Leaking Head is still there, but never a serious issues unless heavy leakage.
Broken alloys: It is matter of opinion. I think it was more of a rider mistake.
Overheating: Except summer noons, where exhaust side of the bike tends to become very hot. No overheating issues on my bike atleast.
Stalling: It was loose battery terminal issue.

2017 Edition is proposed at end of this year. 2016 is pretty refined and composed.

After about 20 seconds a line of numbers and letters appeared like a code and flashed for a second and everything came back to normal, after about 10 minutes the display switches off and switches on again, on doing that the time on the display resets to 1.00 it happened about 10 times, anyone here experienced this?
    Please do reply,thanks!
There is white coloured wire along with multitude of wires that travel from under the tank to headlight assembly. Issue in this wire generally causes the blanked out MID.

    I had a query...
Past few weeks I have noticed my bikes oil consumption has gone up. 150 ~200 ml per week around 340kms.
I had a word with the service guys even they did not have a convincing answer.
A few points before anyone can suggest
    1) have covered 47500 Kms till date
    2)no oil leakage from anywhere
    3) no white or black smoke
    4) pick up, performance dam good
    5) FE has not changed 24km/ lt
    6) bikes not overheating, coolant level is correct
    7) no change in engine sound ( very smooth, no vibes at all)
So bottom line even all seems to be good just it's consuming oil
If any one has faced a similar issue kindly suggest
373cc single cylinder engine which runs quite hot tends to eat up the oil. But 150-200 ml is quite huge. Check for leakages after removing the belly pan and also area behind the radiator.

With this now I can definitely say that yes she has substantial pulling power even at top end. & the Metzelers were brilliant. Kept the bike so STEADY & comfortable. Just love them. Awesome tires.
Few guys quoted 182 kmph and myself saw 176 on my bike. But It can be huge speedo error. Nothing to be proud of!

There are rumours that BMW 310 will be a tad cheaper than the 390. I smell competition.

          .
I had 2014 duke 390 had to sell off in feb. I clocked 15k kms in 60% city and 40% highway. I faced several issues and it was irritating to visit SVC every now and then for some or the other issues. I had replaced radiator fan thrice, thermostats four times, abs sensor once and lastly coolant level going down which turned out to be coolant entering engine case area.

But still if ktm sorts out all the issues ( which i think have sorted out in 2016 models ) and increase price by 15-20k then also duke 390 will be a VFM bike.

My bike doesn't have any of these issues. It's so gud to ride in city. Heats in slow speed only when ur in wrong gear. Once u go back to the right gear, everything becomes cool again. Now, I have become habituated to this riding style and seldom does the bike heat up. I think if I'm correct, even CBR heats up in city. I was told by a client of mine who has a CBR 250 that the ONLY problem in the bike was heat which directly blows into your legs. & clients give the best info IMO. All these problems depend on how well you maintain. If you maintain it well, all these problems will vanish. My routine is washing once a month, lubing every 500km religiously and waxing every 3 months. Dunno about others, but I follow this routine and it has held me in good steed ever since.
As stated by someone else, It's an awesome bike for city traffic. The sharp handling coupled with light-weight, grippy tires and very gud brakes makes it an excellent street bike. Go for it.[emoji16] [emoji16]

You've had the bike for so long, any maintenance suggestions? And what all issues have you faced in your ownership?
              Thanks

It's nice that you are not facing any problems I wish problem free ownership to you, I shared my view which I faced during my ownership. I don't have problem of heating in traffic it's a 373cc single cylinder engine it will heat but my problem is it's cooling, fan shouldn't fail. Can you imagine you are overtaking a truck and bike shuts off saying high coolant temperature, it happened with me. I was frustrated, every now and then I had to go SVC and I maintain my bikes very well.

My point was that it's a excellent bike for it's price but if Ktm increase price by 15-20k and remove these issues permanently then also there's no bike which offers this package.

Same issue is/was present in my friend's rc 390.
Even after a lot of visits the svc wasn't able to fix his bike, but the issue really was unknown and svc couldn't be blamed, even replacing whole radiator fan assembly didn't seem to solve the problem. You never know when you will run out of luck.. but finally he got it fixed somehow that too under warranty.

I first became obsessed with the duke 390 last year in July. It is a superb value for money bike but still ain't that cheap so buying it was far from reality, moreover i already had an apache 180 so parents were completely against buying another bike but i kept on my urge and after completing my 4th semester i finally got it on May 23 It is nothing like I imagined, it is much more!!
