It all ultimately boils down to the way you ride, if you take in corners more aggressively the engine guard might be of a little hindrance, as it is really wide and can restrict filtering through traffic. If you'd love to take it by the pegs, then bobbins do a good job.

Also of note, checking my Duke here there aren't any nuts welded on the back of the frame, so it's just a thread chip of some the bolt. Now that you've fixed it with no fuss, do keep an eye for future loosening of the bolt.

    Cheers!

Once upon a time, a guy asked a girl 'Will you marry me?'
    The girl said, 'NO!'

And the guy lived happily ever after and rode motorcycles and watched sport on a big screen TV, went fishing and surfing, and played golf a lot, and drank beer and scotch and had tons of money in the bank and left the toilet seat up and farted whenever he wanted.

So bobbins it is. Not a corner fan but in mumbai traffic needs lot of filtering.

And will surely keep an eye on it till bobbins arrive.

You can keep newspaper on the rim while spraying lube on chain, this will prevent rear rim

Ok it will be prevented at that time but what about when bike runs and excess lube on the chain gets sprayed off this can't be prevented and i think its not any issue only rim will look slightly dirty nothing else.

For that matter, I always spray more on the inside and less on the outside. Wait for 5 mins till lube reaches the links and then I wipe excess lube with cloth. Works for me. And after lubing I leave my bike for 3 - 4 hrs.

Is it just me or does the D390 "protest" being ridden gently or not at all by vibrating more? I felt like it was after shifting to HP Power fuel and then not riding for a few days. When I got back on it this Monday I felt like it was vibrating more than usual. Andheri East KTM guys checked it, found no faults, tightened the chain and lubed it and sent me off. The next morning I left late for work and found the WEH fairly empty. Revved it till the shiftlight blinked on every gear till Bandra and found that it seemed to run smoother after that.

Not a complaint though. Just observing.

I got it lubed at the svc

You do need to worry abt the grade of oil. I've just recently shifted to Shell ultra 10w40 on my karizma and it's simply amazing. Would blindly recommend it to anyone for a bike with similar requirements.

However on my d390 I stick with the recommended w50 motul. Have even used the 300v w50 and found it good as well.

However the key is to stick to the recommended grade of oil or higher but u should never go lower. Why would u want risk ur 2 year engine warranty?

Guys it's been almost 2 months I have been with my 390. And man! This is one hell of a sweet beast. Now the thing is that I want to clean and lube my chain so I need a vfm paddock stand. The one at the KTM showroom is damn costly. I am from Bangalore so I hope my fellow dukers from Bangalore shed some light on where I can get and the price. I would like to buy the stand which lifts the bike using the swing arm, not the one that lifts by use of swing arm bobbins. Thank you.

                    Ride safe
                    Cheers,
                    Ravi

Check GA engineering on Facebook. I bought paddock from them for 2200. Works well. Also it lifts from the swing arm.

I also use the universal one with adjustable bobbin, perfectly fits to my duke and R15 V2.

                            DUKE 390 CHAIN SPROCKET REPLACEMENT

Hey, I need to have my chain sprocket replaced, since the bike's run around 23k already.
I read online here, here2 and here that the prices for the sprockets should be:

                            • Chain sprocket front 14T : Rs 115
                            • Chain sprocket rear 43T : Rs 644
                            • Chain : Rs 828

                            Total: Rs. 1600/-

But the guy at KTM Marathahalli says that it would take around Rs. 3600/-

SECONDLY: is it necessary to give the bike overnight for such a replacement, since I'm particular about having it done in front of me.

I think you are being taken for a ride. Unless of course the prices have gone up. Chain kit is around 1800 and labor maybe 300 bucks. As for leaving it overnight, it depends on how busy the workshop is and your rapport with them. Normally takes an hour to get he job done..
