Re: KTM Duke 390 - Ownership Reviews and Experiences
That's by design and applicable to the 390 (the 200 has only one drain plug and oil screen).Originally posted by Veeral View PostShall change then...

The uce bullets have drain bolts at three different places on the crankcase, that need to be undone to drain the oil !
Changing oil filter is mandatory at every specified oil change interval. The oil screens not necessary unless you notice that they are damaged/torn.
If your bent on changing the oil at 200km, then you could use the bajaj oil considering it will be replaced at 1000km again. Oil filter at 200km not required.Originally posted by jack_daniels View PostCan I use the Bajaj DTS-i 10,000- SAE 20W50 engine oil for change at 200 kms? If not, then which mineral oil to use?
Also, should I change the oil filter now or at 1000 kms?
From the first service onward I'd suggest you stick to the motul 7100 (10,15, or 20w50)

I'm thinking of using motul 3000 mineral oil now. I think it'll be better.Originally posted by s1d View PostThat's by design and applicable to the 390 (the 200 has only one drain plug and oil screen).

Can it be used? I haven't heard of anyone using motul 3000 mineral oil on ktm duke 390 actually.
I know motul 5100 ss can be used? Will motul 3000 be safe for the bike?

Mineral is not recommended for Duke. Go for the manufacturer recommended 7100.Originally posted by jack_daniels View PostCan I use the Bajaj DTS-i 10,000- SAE 20W50 engine oil for change at 200 kms? If not, then which mineral oil to use?

But why do you want to change at 200km?KTM Duke 390 | RE Interceptor 650

I used Motul 5100 which is a semi-synth at 200 km after breaking in hard. Everything's been great so far and hope it continues to be.Originally posted by jack_daniels View PostCan I use the Bajaj DTS-i 10,000- SAE 20W50 engine oil for change at 200 kms? If not, then which mineral oil to use?

The 300v 15W50 does cost Rs.350/- more than 7100 but man the results are really awesome... I recently switched to 300v(15W50) and the bike has become less jerky, quite smooth in low gears, the exhaust note has become bassier, all my friends are loving the new change, so its worth it!!

Does it lead to head leak by any chance?Originally posted by rick_7428 View PostThe 300v 15W50 does cost Rs.350/- more than 7100 but man the results are really awesome... Well i had replaced the goggle head gasket 3 times when i was using 7100.. I guess that leak was due to defective gaskets. Anyway since then there hasn 't been any leaks luckily
I have done 343 kms since the oil change no signs of leak as of yet will keep checking if anything comes up, i'll update here!

Btw guys. I see oil patches near bore. I took it to srvc centre for getting it inspected nd to solve the issue.
Mechanic told me that its a seepage and not oil leak. It is Normal and leave it the way it is.
Sometimes I smell burning oil when starting the bike in the morning.
Any idea on this ?Not only Great power comes with great responsibility but also with Great RISK !!! Referring to SBKs...

If it's near head gasket then I would say ask them to solve the issue because same thing happened with me SVC guys told me it's normal and after some months oil seepage increased and it was repaired under warranty.Originally posted by Veeral View PostHaha cool.

Head gasket issue was solved 2 months ago. Now it has minor seepage near bore. Recently washed my bike, so I do not see any oil marks as of now.Originally posted by Chandan92 View PostIf it's near head gasket then I would say ask them to solve the issue because same thing happened with me SVC guys told me it's normal and after some months oil seepage increased and it was repaired under warranty. Not only Great power comes with great responsibility but also with Great RISK !!!
