Re: KTM Duke 390 - Ownership Reviews and Experiences
Yes he had enough fuel.and it did try to start but the bike just doesnt start .its like when there is no fuel and you try to start the bike but it wont.we couldn't check the fuse though.everything was fine until he stopped for 5 min.and the bike never started after thatOriginally posted by s1d View Post

1. If not even push start can be done- Should be a stator coil burn. Changing it and recharging battery should solve the problem,
2. Push start can be done- Then battery charge is low. Recharge/Replace battery and see if the charging mechanism is okay.

Re: KTM Duke 390 - Ownership Reviews and Experiences
so have him pull out and check all the fuses, let me know if you want to know which fuse corresponds to what item on the bike. if a fuse is blown, then replace it with the appropriate one from the spare.Originally posted by xplod566 View PostYes he had enough fuel.and it did try to start but the bike just doesnt start .its like when there is no fuel and you try to start the bike but it wont.we couldn't check the fuse though.everything was fine until he stopped for 5 min.and the bike never started after that

We did try to push the bike on 2nd gear but still it didn't start.he will take the bike to svc as its just 1km away from his home.hopefully it should be fine.
But even if a fuse is blown does it refuse to start at 2nd gear by pishing the bike ?

this motorcycle doesn't have 1 fuse like a few other bikes. there are individual fuses that take care of different circuits in the bike.Originally posted by xplod566 View PostOkay

if the fuse related to the ignition coil is blown then it wont start no matter in which gear you try push starting it.
the first step is to check the fuses before making random assumptions and shooting off too many questions.
it could also be something as worse as a faulty fuel pump or another issue which might need their diagnostic computer to be plugged in and the errors read out.. but basic troubleshooting is where one should start and then proceed to the next step.

Ok. We weren't aware of it. He has asked for engineer visit tomorrow. Let's see where it goes. I think it's the fuses its a new bike. Will update you more with it.Originally posted by s1d View Postthis motorcycle doesn't have 1 fuse like a few other bikes. there are individual fuses that take care of different circuits in the bike.

Re: KTM Duke 390 - Ownership Reviews and Experiences
Hi, guys i am getting a feeling that my duke's handle is kind of loose under heavy breaking and while leaning. Now, i have changed the front tyre and cone-set but still get the same feeling. I have tried my friend's duke 390 and it feels rock solid in comparison
I don't know what else could be the problem. Is there something else i can change in the handle that would make any difference. Btw my bike has done 24k kms and is 3 year old.
thanks

Re: KTM Duke 390 - Ownership Reviews and Experiences
what is the mechanic at asc saying ? if the coneset replacement wasn't done properly then that weird loose feeling with a bit of play will exist. now, if you sit on the bike and hold the front brake and rock the front end of the bike forwards and then backwards, do you notice any play in the handlebar to triple tree area?Originally posted by vikundefined View PostHi, guys i am getting a feeling that my duke's handle is kind of loose under heavy breaking and while leaning. another area to look for will be the front wheel bearing and front axle.

Re: KTM Duke 390 - Ownership Reviews and Experiences
hi @s1d
My friend went to service today. They told there was a cable which went off which resulted the bike not to start. My friend is still to update which cable was loose as he was in a hurry for office.
Battery also went down as he was trying to crank it for almost 20-25 minutes.
Carbon deposit in spark plug as too much cranking was done.
However the sole reason for it not to start was the Wiring. Will update you soon as to whcih one was it.
Update - wire that connects to ignition in the engine which is on right side got cut off.Its all fine now.Last edited by xplod566; 12-21-2015, 05:25 PM.

Re: KTM Duke 390 - Ownership Reviews and Experiences
was it a lose connection or was the wire physically damaged as in 'cut' or broke off at its connecting point ?Originally posted by xplod566 View PostUpdate - wire that connects to ignition in the engine which is on right side got cut off.Its all fine now.
how did they fix it ? soldering, just re-plugging the wire .. ?
was it the spark plug wire ?
too many questions i know, but that's the best way one can learn what was the exact part that gave up and how to fix it.

Yes, I had my 2nd service few days back at 3.3k KM. The days also matter if you want to get a free service or they'll disregard the second and consider it as third if you get it serviced later.Originally posted by flux52 View PostHi Guys ,
What is the 2nd service interval. I was under the impression it is 7500 kms or annually whichever is earlier . But service centre guy says 150 days from purchase .
