Booked my D390 today with a booking amount of Rs.30,000/-. Hope I get a niggle-free, only servicing experience.Originally posted by vijeth v View PostBoth are kerb weights(157 vs 154) mate . Meaning the weight with all fluids included.
My dad bought a newly launched Bajaj Sapphire back in 2001-02. Regret it till date. Problems almost from the first day onwards. Refuses to start. Sound from here and there, etc. Sold it within 6 months. Afterwards, bought the newly launched Honda Activa. Throw whatever you may at it and it lives to see another day. Not a single problem in around 8-9 yrs of ownership. Hope my D390 is like the Activa. Hope I get a niggle-free experience. :fingers crossed:

I would've suggested you to wait for the 2016 version, IF you could wait.Originally posted by jack_daniels View PostBooked my D390 today with a booking amount of Rs.30,000/-. Hope I get a niggle-free, only servicing experience.

Like there will be no head gasket oil weeping issues on your NS or a 200 Duke however they are ever present in 390.Learned Something New!!Originally posted by Veeral View PostLol chill. Didn't mean to hurt you by my arrogance.
There is nothin such as basic functionality in terms of oil leakage or sprocket cover. Your NS might have a gasket covering behing the bolt space while duke 390 doesn't have that. That was just FYI. And I've checked that with few other people too. It is supposed to happen with their bike too.
But even If Its normal, i guess its an design flaw!sigpicRelationships change, evolve, and it goes deep.
Only thing I can say - "The storm is coming"

No significant upgrades there I believe. Moreover, it'll take time till after April-May 16'. I already sold my ZMR and it's really a painful 30 days wait. They said I'll get the bike in Dec 15-20. Also, the real upgrade, i.e. 2017 version is still a gud 1.5-2 yrs away.

There is oil passage there. That's why the leak happens when you remove the bolt. Also keep in mind that the three bolts there are different lengths. So always put back the bolt you removed and dont get them mixed up. Coz it will break the thread inside the cover if you do.Originally posted by Shibadip View PostLearned Something New!!

Crap, i have mixed them back once when i opened it for cleaning... Hope no harm done. Can you tell which one goes where considering the length? So I'll switch them back! Also i didn't recognize that they vary in length, have to check again.

How did you clean it? Did you use petrol and a brush or you cleaned it when you lubed it and used motul clean?Originally posted by rick_7428 View PostCrap, i have mixed them back once when i opened it for cleaning... Can I just clean the sprockets or would I have to lube it too? I do not have a paddock and hence lubing is quite tiring and time consuming. What do you call a biker who does not wear a helmet? An organ donor.

I use diluted turpentine(General Purpose Thinner) and old toothbrush for cleaning, just lube the chain the sprockets will get covered by it. The paddock does come in handy and requires lesser effort and time.
Even with timely lube and chain adjustment my stock chain sprocket set is showing signs of wear after clocking just 19k kms on ODO. Might be good for next 1000kms or so I guess.
How much did you guys get max out of the stock chain-set? I have heard some changing around 25k kms?
Is the chain slider required to be changed with the chain-sprocket Set?

I mixed them up. Now i use a bit of loctite. Or else there is a bit of leak for me. The only other option is to replacethat whole thing.Originally posted by rick_7428 View PostCrap, i have mixed them back once when i opened it for cleaning... Hope no harm done. yes, there are folks whose chain-set lasts them 25k easily. regular lubing is necessary for the chain to last its full potential.Originally posted by rick_7428 View PostHow much did you guys get max out of the stock chain-set? I have heard some changing around 25k kms?

Again, the way and conditions you ride it in also affects the chain sprocket life.
You need to check the chain sprocket wear rather than assuming that we should change it at xx km. Sometimes the rear sprocket develops a bit of play (i.e. with the bike standstill, if you try to move/rotate the sprocket with your hand, you would notice that it moves a few mm) and the solution to this is to change just the rubber dampers in the rear wheel hub which cost less than 100 bucks a set, though some mechanics will tell you to replace the chain sprocket set+rubbers.
as for the chain slider, again replacement is necessary if its worn. but if you have run your chain for 20k and replacing the chain set then it makes sense to replace the chain slider anyway because the labor of doing this replacement separately will cost you more. why pay twice when you can do it along with chain replacement and avoid another dis-assembly of partsLast edited by s1d; 11-16-2015, 01:02 PM.

Re: KTM Duke 390 - Ownership Reviews and Experiences
Had a small crash. Due to oil on the road bike slipped and slide for about 5-10 mtrs. Luckily i left the bike or else i would have been dragged with the bike. Got a small bruise on knee.
Hand guard & leg guard saved the bike from any other damage.
Suprisingly left leg guard came Off after the hit. Top nut came off and fell on the road. Leg guard was hanging as lower nut was loose after hit. Not sure if it f***d my internal threading or not.Not only Great power comes with great responsibility but also with Great RISK !!! Referring to SBKs...
