hi guys, today while going to office my duke started showing "0" in the speedometer and soon after that it started showing low battery warning. I am confused is it a battery issue or stator coil has gone. Can anyone help what could be the issue. Thanks

You made my Day, month, week, year, decade, century💛💙💜💚❤️Originally posted by B7ACKTHORN View PostUpdate:
So called up my dealership today, regarding any updates on the RC, and to my surprise, the chap said, sir you can expect no updates on the RC for at least year, rest assured, the slipper clutch will only be installed on the naked Duke 390, and neither of the both, naked or the RC 200 would include a slipper clutch. But when asked upon can this slipper clutch be installed on the older lots of Duke 390 surprisingly I got a big "YES". I specifically, asked him twice, can this be fixed on older 390, the senior mechanic was like "YES sir, you can retrofit the clutch assembly of the newer to older models"
Now this chap was 95% of the time, spot on with the information he had to offer though still I am taking this notion of his with a pinch of salt.
But RC not getting upgraded for a year is a real pain in the posterior, considering the waiting the period the motorcycle is already undergoing.
I guess March will prove to be a good show-time, when the Feb-March produced motorcycles hit the dealership. I guess till then, the pain continues.
Cheers!

This just sounds so stupid, if slipper clutch was included in the duke with no cost bump, why is RC left out ? it makes no sense, its the same bloody bike with revised seating positionOriginally posted by B7ACKTHORN View PostUpdate:

Yes that is a stator coil issue..get it replaced ASAP if the bike is under warranty...Originally posted by vikundefined View Posthi guys, today while going to office my duke started showing "0" in the speedometer and soon after that it started showing low battery warning. Re: Rattling sound in Duke 390 at low speeds
After cringing for a day or two regarding the slipper clutch update, I went to the service center to get my 390's head gasket and air filter housing replaced under warranty.
Had a long chat with the head mechanic regarding the slipper clutch upgrade, whether it can be retrofitted on older models or not.
Here's what I found.
- Firstly the answer is a big YES.
- He showed me spare parts catalog for comparison.
- Except for the complete clutch assembly and clutch cover plate, everything else is common for 2013,14 & 15 models.
- On inquiring about the costs of individual parts, the total cost comes in between 6 and 8k.
Infact I have the snaps of the parts catalog comparison. Can't share from office. Will do so once I'm back home.
I do have the dealer handout of the changes in 2015 model, not sure if I'm allowed to share it.
Here's the changelog btw
- Change in front fender design
- Rear fender change with better material
- Sealed indicators to avoid water seepage.
- Radiator fan assembly is changed to direct hot air towards bottom
- Rear shock absorber with dust cover(The visible metal part inside the spring is covered with a plastic casing)
- Flap protector for rear shock
- Front seat assembly is stiffened to avoid touching air filter housing( The very same issue I faced, getting air filter housing replaced under warranty)
- New hand grips like RC
- RH switch is changed owing to new throttle grip angle
- Rear mud cover is wider in size, equal with RC.
- Chain cover height is increased to prevent slapping of chain
- Changes in belly pan mounts
- Changes in Speedometer logic to avoid abrupt zero position on run and to accommodate the new service interval of 7500 kms
- Silencer mounting rubber damper is changed to reduce vibrations
- Spark plug gap is increased to 1mm from 0.8mm
- Connecting rod now comes with a bush at small end for more strength
- Slipper clutch
- New sealed bearings to avoid oil leakage at output shaft.
- New collar sprocket
- Output shaft oil seal diameter increased from 25 to 26 to accommodate new collar

Very good indeed. Glad to know much of what was resonated here with the head mechanic is reflected there What's waiting to see is, the update on the RC 390. It would have been an excellent proposition if only any RC series were equipped, but let's see how it fares. Did you in anyway consider to shoot a question regarding the RC 390 series! Kindly share the parts catalog photos you've gathered, would be helpful.
@krish2778, why blood? Ah, same blood!

The girl said, 'NO!'
And the guy lived happily ever after and rode motorcycles and watched sport on a big screen TV, went fishing and surfing, and played golf a lot, and drank beer and scotch and had tons of money in the bank and left the toilet seat up and farted whenever he wanted.

Check the condition of the chain every few hundred km intervals. There is no set rule, the key is to maintain the O-rings of the chain oiled.Originally posted by GautamNarvane View PostAnd can we install slipper clutch in the old duke 390s ?

Approximately, clean and lube every 600km or earlier during rainy season.
Regarding the slipper clutch, read/search the posts before asking. It costs approx 6-8k.Last edited by akhilash95; 02-19-2015, 09:05 PM.
