Yup, a basic Studds helmet. It was ok. Main criteria for me while choosing a helmet is that it should let wind hit my face and it met that criteria.

Hi Nitin,
This is my first post on xBHP and with God's grace should be buying my 390 within this month.

Regarding the hard suspension, I am posting Motobeam's long term review report. They say with the suspension setting on 3 or 4 the ride is brilliant. Perhaps you could try it. I also rode a brand new 390 which my friend purchased three weeks ago and found the suspension to be very comfortable. It was on setting four.

• Metzler replacement for duke 390

Hi frens, I have been quoted rs 17500 for the replacement of my duke 390 tyres by the dealership. This is for the front and rear tyre. Any idea if these are available below this rate. I have tried talking to the distributor in Karol bagh but he is not willing to quote a price on the phone. I reside in Delhi. Tried to search for the same in help me section but couldn't find the same. Fwd the link would also help. Thanks

If you reside in delhi, then do visit the distributor.. that's your best bet. the prices of the metz being sold by ktm seem to have been jacked up recently.. the only difference being the ktm partnumber sticker on it. I think if purchased outside, you should be able to save at least 3k on a set. Because earlier a set of these tires used to cost around 12k.

ved The KTM DUKE 390 is the best, all the issues that you have mentioned have been sorted out in the bikes that are manufactured september 2014 onwards. I got mine on october 2014, and its going all fine till now with 2400km on the odometer. You will feel the heat till the first servicing is complete and you will also feel the vibration till 6000rpm after that its smooth. Overall the bike is perfect and can enjoy with it .
Thank u. Ride safe.

Hi
D390 is one of the VFM bikes in india and issues are somewhat rectified by ktm in 2014 bikes but vibrations still is present because of tank cap and plastic tank cover. My bike is 5 months old and 4k KMS on odo and till now no problem except vibes have bothered me.

Ride safe

I have a duke 390 2013 model. The first problem I face is that in very cold conditions it takes 30 to 40 secs to start. This happened in chakrata and munsiyari. This has been fixed as my fren bought a Nov 14 model and it starts just fine. I have heard that they changed the alloy of the rim , can't confirm though. BTW I had ridden my bike for 11.5k km and my rims are just fine. Vibrations are there but for me that is OK cause I rode a re 500 standard for my leh tour in 07[emoji4] . panel noises do exist but again not a deal breaker for me. For 200k this the most vfm bike. Itne paise mein itna maza aur koi bike nahi deti hai. The most expensive part about the bike are the tyres. Approx 17 k for a pair and the last around 10k km. Another thing that I have changed is the gasket around the engine but I was told it could have been fixed by the sealant paste only. Didn't have to change the gasket. Last not the least I have heard the front shocker oil seals go kaput but that has not happened with me . touchwood. Hope this helps.

I am buying the 390 this month end, can somebody please explain how to decode the VIN number for this?
The KTM dealer in Mumbai has a few bikes ready for delivery in stock and I would like to know the month of manufacture before allowing it to be registered.

Thank you.

P.S. Please excuse if its a repeat question as this thread has 542 pages.

Once upon a time, a guy asked a girl 'Will you marry me?'
The girl said, 'NO!'

And the guy lived happily ever after and rode motorcycles and watched sport on a big screen TV, went fishing and surfing, and played golf a lot, and drank beer and scotch and had tons of money in the bank and left the toilet seat up and farted whenever he wanted.

THE END
