Hi Bud, Did you manage to get the pics. Thanks.
Most motorcycle problems are caused by the nut that connects the handlebars to the saddle!

Guys, I need to know that how many of you have faced rim cracking problem?
What are the maintainance costs for different things? And would you recommend it to upgrade to Duke 390 from a pulsar 220??

Newer batches of dukes are supposedly coming with better alloys. I haven't faced any rim cracking issues so far. But I would like to add a word of caution here, alloys being lighter and performance oriented do break under extreme stress depending upon various factors, be it a duke or a ducati. And most of the earlier problems has been rectified by ktm. Maintenance costs:
        Free service - Rs.1800
        Paid service - Rs. 2400
        Service interval - every 6000kms
Apart from this, chain cleaning and lubing every 500kms - DIY
Adjusting chain play - every 1000kms - DIY
If you drop your bike then depending upon the damage you will incur the costs. Spares are cheap when compared to kawasaki and other premium brands which manufacture performance bikes, but not as cheap as say, p220. U can refer to some earlier posts in this thread where they have mentioned the cost of each and every spare of Duke.
Regarding your query of duke being a worthy upgrade, Hell ya!!! Go, take a test drive. The difference is almost like night and day.

        Good luck

EDIT :- Also want to know the average fuel efficiency people are getting here?
I usually ride around 80 kmph on highways. How much FE should I expect?

Generally you can get around 200-210 between tank full refills.

If you are riding at 80-110kmph u can expect a fuel efficiency of 35kmpl. I did bangalore to dharwad, distance of 450kms on 14 litres of fuel. I was getting around 35-37kmpl at the above mentioned speeds with occasional bursts of upto 135kmph. But if ridden constantly at anything above 110kmph, will decrease the fuel efficiency proportionally. For the speeds u have mentioned u can safely assume a mileage of 35kmpl.

Kindly post some photos of your ride. Also a pic of your fabricated luggage carrier would be really helpful.

The luggage carrier looks fantastic. I think you will be able to market it as an accessory and make some cash

Went to service center again for the tank cap vibration.. Since mine was replaced once before, so I was told that they are changing some stuff with the tank cap and the new model will be available within next couple of week. After spending so much money on the bike and getting such pathetic service is totally not acceptable. Can we do something about it? Or we have to keep suffering like this and eventually sell it off for some other bike.

Valparai is a nice quiet 'not so touristy' get away with good roads, ideal for the 390. About that luggage carrier, i made it at my place of work, just a day before this trip. If there are few numbers, i can get a small batch production done for the same, as one-offs will be difficult to make cos the machines are all CNC and busy with the usual work.

Woah look at that tail. And the tank looks like a different shape as well.

would be good if they heard customers demand and introduced a bigger tank.say at least 15litres to begin with.

Wouldn't it make the 390 top heavy?
