Riding the whole track in single gear (I used 4th gear) without using brakes really teaches you a lot about throttle control and how much difference it can do if you are smooth with throttle.

Here is a pic from the event

Anybody from here had attended the event? Wouldve been great if we couldve met. Anyways, look forward to the next track event in Feb!
I was there , and yes riding without using brakes and in a single gear (4th for me too) was fun

Used a pulsar 200ns tank pad on my D390. Had to cut off a few mm on either sides to make it fit. Looks good, but more importantly, it serves the purpose. Cost 179/-. Rest DIY Why go for ktm power parts and burn a hole when u can get the external tank itself replaced at the same cost.

Btw, I have few gopro videos of track day.. cant believe the exhaust note sounds so good when we were whacking throttle on straights! Will share it here soon.

I for one have always been doing this on the streets be it whatever the ride is, especially when traffic is minimal / late nights/early mornings.. throttle control can boost your fuel eco and prolong your brake pad change intervals amongst other benefits. Normally i use the brakes only to the bring the bike to a complete halt, otherwise its the throttle to slow down for normal riding.. unless i am in the 'power mode' ripping around

Isn't Motul the company recommended coolant for the ktm bikes?

Engine ICE is another good coolant, help in keeping the temp cooler than what motuls are capable of. Do check the availability of the product in your area. It is a purple color fluid(just for reference)

                          Cheers

I see some discussion going on the chain lubes.
Having used variety of chain lubes, below is the preferred order .

                            1. Cyclo - By Pidilite : Excellent lube with longer life compared to other lube. A bit expensive when compared to others but total worth. It leaves least mess on the rear tire compared to any other. Life about 500kms. Cleaning off it is fairly simple.

                            2. 90w Gear Oil - Comes in many brands and I am currently using Castrol one. Cheapest alternative among all. Though the life is very less, it is a cheaper alternative for people who use bad roads regularly. Life about 150-200 kms.

                            3. Motul/OKS: Usually use when I visit SVC. No specific reason. Life about 250-300 kms.

                            4. Tribocor: Honeslty, worst chain Lube I ever used. Applying it is messy, the whole rear wheel is messy. Life is around 200-300 kms. Chain becomes noisy. Cleaning the lube is headache.

My 390's chain is still stock one which has almost done 22000 kms.
This includes stock front Metz, still with stock brake pads on both wheels.
Rear Micheling Pilot Street is doing pretty well which has been changed at 15000kms and still had pretty good life left. Around 8000-9000 kms life left may be.

my 390 has been running fine without any issues and with consistent mileage of 30kmpl in City.
Not able to gather much time on maintenance though. Imagine I haven't checked the air pressure in tires since two months .

Hi friend's . I am about to reach 10k on my duke 390 and it is time to change the tyres. Metzler's are costing Rs 17500 for the pair. Are there cheaper tires with the same size/specs. Pls help

add rolon to the list of good chain lubes.. less mess and stickier compared to the oks. I've only seen and bought the small can (120ml) which is around 120rs IIRC.
90 gear oil though is my preference..if only i could figure out an easier method of application in the absence of an main/paddock stand so i could use it more frequently.
For now though.. ive left the lubrication duty to the asc who do it for free (i am always looking for the easiest way out that's pocket friendly)
