Not an aftermarket tail tidy. I plan to shorten the tail myself by cutting it and moving the number plate forward. Would this void the warranty?

Re: KTM Duke 390 - Owners Reviews and Experiences
It's not necessary but if you open it you will see there's a lot of muck stuck near front sprocket, i would recommend every 1000 km front sprocket area should be cleaned.Originally posted by rohangk View PostIs it necessary to lube the chain by removing the front sprocket cover?

Re: KTM Duke 390 - Owners Reviews and Experiences
Got my faith shaken today for KTM. I got stranded today when i went to buy riding jacket at satya niketan delhi adventure 18. My duke 390 is 1 year old and has done 2100 km only. Never faced any problem till today. When i cranked bike after my purchase it did not started. Battery was working fine as speedo meter was ahowing everything is fine horn was working so checked all fuses and everything was fine as per me. Tried to start by pushing bike but no result. Bike waa not hot at all dont know what was theproblem. Tried multiple times, called gurgaon service center but no one answered. Called kirti nagar bagga link and they also asked me to check fuse. And if still not working aaked me to get it to seevice center. I took the bike in a tempo and when i reached gurgaon service center, to my utter frustation it was closed. Anyone have faced this issue that display is working and all fuse under pillion is fine but still bike is not starting. I was planning a solo long ride in himalyas this coming weekend but now i am scared and loosing faith in ktm. Missing simple machines now

The first and foremost thing I will suggest you to get the ORANGE ASSIST PROGRAM, it costs 800 bucks. It will be responsibility of KTM guys to get the bike to SVC.

Re: KTM Duke 390 - Owners Reviews and Experiences
From the easiest possible factors, it could either be a loose spark plug wire, loose plugs, as this bike has a tendency of loosening the spark plugs due the vibey nature. Secondly, fuses, can be culprit. Even though a blown fuse would certainly fully prevent the bike from cranking itself, in your case it at least cranked (I might be wrong on this part though). But do check for spark plug itself check if it's loose, check the cable leads, as a basic, then you can progress to the difficult part, like fuses, undone connectors etc.Originally posted by Cheetah View PostGot my faith shaken today for KTM. The girl said, 'NO!'
And the guy lived happily ever after and rode motorcycles and watched sport on a big screen TV, went fishing and surfing, and played golf a lot, and drank beer and scotch and had tons of money in the bank and left the toilet seat up and farted whenever he wanted.

1. When you turned the ignition on did you hear the usual 'whirrr' from the fuel pump ?Originally posted by Cheetah View PostGot my faith shaken today for KTM. 2. Did you hear the bike crank up or was it just silent as you thumbed the starter ? If it was simply quiet, then it might be an issue with the starter switch or the starter relay. Try n tap the starter switch with the handle side of a screwdriver a few times and try to start or open the switch gear unit and squirt in some wd40.
If the bike made an attempt to crank but did not start, then it could be a problem with the ignition system, spark plug etc...
So do share some more info on your attempt to start, especially on the two points that i've listed above.

Bro electronics can fail anytime it might be a simple thing that might have gone wrong or it can be the other way around but there are so many KTM's running around.Originally posted by Cheetah View PostGot my faith shaken today for KTM. Don't worry ur ride will be fixed and up and running. Try the suggestion given above. Do share your experience though. Have a great day.

Bike is just silent when i try to start it. As mentioned by you i think you are right, it could possibly be the starter relay issue. Lets see what svc figures out.

Yes hoping it to be a minor and one time issue. Looking forward to have a niggle free ownership. And thats true that this bike when running puts a broad smile on your face. But the feeling of being stranded at an unknown destination makes me a bit worry. Lets see what svc figures out.

I will check the spark plug. But right now the bike is at a friend's place which is near to svc. Will update you once i figure out the problem.

Re: KTM Duke 390 - Owners Reviews and Experiences
if there is a problem starting it in gear, it most probably means that clutch switch has a loose contact (u pull in the clutch to start in gear)Originally posted by anarchy911 View PostEven i am having the same issue. Bike is not starting in the first gear sometimes, but starting fine in neutral. Maybe the side stand sensor is faulty.
