The meter would have reset once you switch off your engine - By key or By Engine Kill switch.

The data collected for calculating mileage and range is past data... Not accurate, neither up to date. If it was it would fluctuate immediately based on the ups and downs of the speed, however it does after a certain period of time.

• An update to my issue:

Soon after i lodged a complaint to KTM, Mr Milind contacted me who happens to be the service manager for KTM in Maharashtra.
He went through the problem history and asked me to take the bike to the SAI service station at Karve Nagar to meet Mr Sachin.
My bike is at the SVC now and the mechs are trying to figure out the problem.
I hope they will fix the issue and for now i have placed my faith in Mr Milind from Bajaj.
I was impressed by his attitude towards the issue and his willingness to resolve the same.
It will take a few days . fingers crossed, ill post an update soon.

The SNK Wakewadi SVC charged me for the Second service too. they said that the date threshold has expired and hence i have to pay for the service. I did!
Mr Sachin from SAI SVC informed me that they should have used the 3rd service coupon instead of charging me. Another FAIL from SNK SVC!

Paint job looks cartoonish. Too many colors in one bike. The duke is a screamer anyway! Just a set of raceline stickers from ktm powerparts give it a funkier look. But beautiful beautiful tail tidy. Gels really well with the curves, or shall i say, sharp edges of the bike.

*Phew* thanks for confirming eshan! i guess ur right, reserve to reserve is generally the best bet .

• Shims/tappet sound - adjustment?

Hi Guys,

Come across an issue with my Duke 390. Started hearing a ticking sound from the left side of the bike. Its kinda like the sound tappets make. Took it to the Goregaon Service Center just now and the tech suggested that its too faint to address now. It should be addressed if it increases and the shims may need adjustment/replacement. The bike has done just 1500 odd Kms till date.

Have any of you have faced this issue before? What is the best approach in this case. I dont want to ride the bike like this lest it causes any further damage to other things.

Kindly advise where would be the best KTM service place to have this sorted out in Mumbai.

Thanks in advance

No need to worry about the sound if is low. I faced the same problem but the intensity was too high. That tappet sound became so irritating that i had the changed the whole valve head. Thanks to the svc guys for their work with shim adjustment. It is a tiresome job.
P. S. My bike has done 11k on odo.

I am a bit surprised by your report. I have found SNK Wakdewadi to be quite good. I too had crossed the days limit for 2nd service and the manager there himself said they will do it free under the 3rd service.

Mr. Sachin at Sai Service is very knowledgeable and helpful too.

Which mechanic for the exhaust? Any reviews re sound and perfo improvement if any.

Thanks for the reply panic. Im worried cos I feel that the sound should not be there at all. Letting it intensify would probably lead to the same issue you have faced or the valves/additional parts going kaput.

The service schedule for the 390's abroad includes a valve clearance check at 1000kms. Which is not done here. Will get a 2nd opinion over the weekend from another SVC. If its still not taken seriously, will email KTM to sort this out.
