    Had driven a d390 extensively.

    positives:

    1. out of the world acceleration. there is no words to explain.
    2. very good highway crusier. effortless at even 130-140
    3. very good handling.

mileage is 18-25 in city. highways 30-35 between speeds of 80-100. past 110 mileage figures take a real beating

    1. only 3 free services. services centre labour charges are very high. my freind was charged a cool 3900 rupees for oil, oil fiter and for a broken fork oil seal.
    2. the suspension is too stiff. don't expect any plushing on any roads.
    3. even today the fork oil leakage tends to be a problem when driven on potholed roads.
    4. heating problem is a big negative in cities. he stopped his duke on bumper to bumper city drive and he prefers my karizma. i found the cbr and ninja to be better in this aspect

fiding fuel(95 octane petorl) is a big problem for this monster.

the indian roads does not suit this monster. it's not the problem with this bike. it's just our roads and KTM needs to provide a bit more free services and can reduce the service charges. I know it's a premium bike but the service and spare parts are sky high. they surely needs to work on the suspension.

      2. the suspension is too stiff. don't expect any plushing on any roads. [you need good handling then you will have to suffer with stiff suspension]
      3. even today the fork oil leakage tends to be a problem when driven on potholed roads.[I've not faced it till now, done 5000kms in mumbai rain and broken road]
      4. heating problem is a big negative in cities. he stopped his duke on bumper to bumper city drive and he prefers my karizma. i found the cbr and ninja to be better in this aspect [I also face this problem but not sure if its more than ninja or not]

fiding fuel(95 octane petorl) is a big problem for this monster.[why do you worry about 95 octane petrol just fill any petrol from good bunk and enjoy the beast ]

the indian roads does not suit this monster [by indian road I think you meant some city roads, take it out on highway we have many very good highway and no speed limits ]. it's not the problem with this bike. it's just our roads and KTM needs to provide a bit more free services and can reduce the service charges. Killer pricing by KTM/Bajaj!! Will come to around 2.35 and 1.8 on road.

Since these things are done 'online' now there is no dealer discretion I was told.

I would err on the side of caution.
I think you are being taken for a ride. My bike was service almost a month beyond the date and the only thing was that it was not a free service. There was no effect on warranty. It is insane to complete 3 services for just 4000km done.
I would suggest to check with some other SVC in your area.

Not much point in checking now since all my free services are over.

How would paying for a 'free service' help anyway?

Its not a question of "free" service at all - in any case a free service also costs upwards of 2k. The point is there is no need of any servicing whatsoever for less than 5k km interval.

I dont get to ride the bike much these days. After how much time i should change the oil.
Current odo is 11k and only 1k done in last 3 months.

I also have Nov 2013 bike which has done ~5700kms and run through all free services.
I'm not saying that I won't be getting it serviced. I'm not sure about changing the engine oil. I'll tell the service guys not to change the oil, but if they insist I'll probably buy it from them and change it later myself. I guess there is no point in changing it every 1000 kms.

That is what I think too. But then the 1st three services are scheduled in such a manner or should I say my running is low. With a new product, with niggles and issues widely reported I didn't want to risk interpreting the clauses. Not that the clauses themselves lend to any interpretation. It is quite straightforward. Example: 1st service scheduled 30 days from date of delivery or XXXX kms whichever is earlier and so on.

I would say get the service coupon details entered in their 'system'. Rest is up to you and the service center.

A general rule is to change the oil after the manufacturer recommended km interval or atleast once a year.

Why not ask the SVC about warranty voiding?

About the alloys cracking up on Duke 390, somebody had asked this question during Q&A session as part of yesterday's RC bike launch and to which Bajaj official (I guess Amit Nandi) replied that any bike pushed to its limit will experience such issues. Sounded ridiculous. Isn't DUKE 390 meant for riding like that. It should take up some amount of abuse. Alloy cracking was seen even at 40-50 kmph speeds. Guess KTM and Bajaj are just choosing to ignoe this issue.

Boss...dont get worked up. When he says "pushing to it's limit" in this case he's referring to the magnitude of the pot hole and speed of the bike. All those pics you see of broken rims have their own story. premium bikes have lighter alloys. For this they have to sacrifice the strength. You have to be careful. Relax..

Guys what's the average chain life? My bike has done 9.6k kms in 6 months. Chain has developed uneven slack, it jitters while accelerating. Should I replace my chain or both chain/sprocket. Or just go ahead with Chain adjustment?

adjust it and keep it for sometime. When it becomes unbearable. replace it. mine has done 13k now. gotta change it soon.

What is the major reasons for wearing the chain??
Mine has done 14K kms and the mech said it can go further 3-4K kms. But one of my friend's Chain is worn out already in 9K kms.

Unbearable as in chain noise has become prominent, more the speed more the sound.
