Also could you approximately guide as to which particular point the distance from the top of the chain to the underside of the swing arm should be 5-7mm? Tomorrow being sunday, would like to experiment and see if it helps. thanks.
Its the same point where in the manual they have shown that slackness should be check.

Incorrect. The chain has to always be tightened at its tightest spot.
Got a D390 exactly 8 days ago and did not wait for RC as
1. Although the RC is being launched on September 9th, you will get your hands on your bike only by mid October when delivery starts
2. Am a bit skeptical in buying the 1st lot bikes. Let the RC settle in on Indian roads, let KTM take care of the little niggles (like it did for D390) and you would have a much refined bike a year later.
3. And well, if one want nearly 400 cc under the tank and in an all faired setup, one should go for a twin rather than a single cylinder.

With all these in mind, I got the D390 and It has been completely exhilarating feeling so far!!
Thanks Mustang!Agree on all the points made by you and hence after much thoughts booked black duke 390 and payes full amount so will be getting delievry tomorrow unless i will go for white. Any suggestion on accessories?

Now bike is very smooth.
Whoa! Never noticed the 5-7mm was between chain and swingarm! Brilliant piece of info mate! Thanks a ton

I guess many wouldve done the same mistake, I too used to keep the slack at 5-7mm and there would be tak-tak noise. Now I know the correct slack

Do you have a copy of the service memo/ link? The two of the oldest SVCs in Hyderabad for KTM recommend the 300V.

Congrats on the new bike Dude. Ride safe and have mercy on the other two wheelers on the road (Especially the ones who would try to race you!)
For the accessories, there are aplenty. You can check the KTM site to get a list here : http://shop.ktm.com/int_en/powerparts.html
Pls. note that all of them would not be available in India, so check with your dealer. Other thing is that KTM powerparts are damn expensive (a tank pad costs Rs. 2400/-). If you are OK to shell out the money, then good otherwise their are local options available as well. You will need to check the thread/ ask other members for that.

Personally, I removed the sari guard and the rear mudguard on delivery and the rear view mirrors soon after. Bike looks even more mean and beautiful. No plans to accessorize her yet although I am seriously considering a HID mod.

If I may - removing RVMs is against the xBhp/basic riding etiquette. 'your choice totally though, 'is just an advise.
Besides, kindly do not suggest the same to other members.

The 390 Duke is already a hooligan and RVMs or meaner looks aren't gonna make you faster, although having them can really help in road navigation & safe riding.

Apologies.. Did not know about the riding etiquette.
Just for the record.. Was not offering advise/suggesting anyone to do the same, was just saying what I had done with my bike.

Riding/Driving without RVMs is completely illegal and can attract a ticket. Most important thing is safety of you as well as other fellow road users. Mirrors have very little to do with how your bike looks, but has everything to do on road. As an Xbhpian, you have the responsibility to confine with the forums rules and principles. If you worried about falling off the bike, you'd never get on.

Thanks to all for helping in choosing my ride. Today i have taken delivery of my black duke 390. Will post pics tomorrow. I am curious to know one thing - there is weight in the middle of wheels both front and rear. It looks like what we have for cars for wheel balancing. Is it normal? Upon asking the SE they said its normal and comes from factory.

Missing Coolant : My coolant level has dropped from max to min in a span of 7 days. No visible leak on/around bike. Where is it going?

The place where I come from driving without RVMs is not illegal. So I grew up driving without RVMs and continue to do so.
Just to re-iterate, am not promoting or advising for driving without RVMs.

As a former Bullet owner, Duke is decades ahead in terms of quality!!
Some bikes do have problems but overall it is quite maintenance free bike. I have personally not heard/read of anyone being stranded due to engine stalling.
The only serious issue currently not rectified is the possible rim cracking.

If there is no problem with coolant and no apparent leak, then the most probable reason is that the coolant is somehow entering combustion chamber and getting evaporated. Happened to me, they changed the head and the head gasket in my case.
