Re: KTM Duke 390 - Owners Reviews and Experiences
Got the same problem for last three to four months.radiator changed no result.no leak in any area or hoses or no mixing in the engine oil but the coolant goes on decreasing every time I topped it.changed the coolant thoroughly cleaning the radiator.if you find any solution please inform.Originally posted by nasirkaka View PostThanks!
I bought a can of motul from the service center. Costed 195 Rs. I have more of less thoroughly checked for any external leak but could not find one. Not just me, also got it checked at Auroservice, with same result. Engine oil was not drained and checked, but visually and with a dip stick, it looks normal. Am approaching my 5 or 6th service, where service folks intend to remove the coolant, clean the system with warm water, amd use fresh coolant. Hoping that fixes the issue.

at 21K kms and 1.8 years, there is been no real trouble from the engine. Some other issues which i recollect are:Originally posted by timuseravan View PostFor a new launched bike to predict in this fashion is impossible. * Head gasket was replaced once cos of sweating from the region.
* front right side USD seal busted and fixed thrice
* indicator and parking lamp fused once
* battery terminal broken twice
apart from this, the usual wear and tear like chain sprocket set changed once, 1st change for the rear tyre. front tyre still stock but needs replacement.
infact, i feel the 390 is a nice lill reliable bike and if taken care, will last quite a bit, including the engine as the piston used is forged (not casted like the 200) and cylinder walls have CM coating.
I had much more trouble with my two bullets (LB350 and UCE500) then the 390. So much for low revving big pot configuration. I guess it pretty much boils down to quality of materials and manufacturing tolerances of critical components, which seem like of decent quality for the 390.

Re: KTM Duke 390 - Owners Reviews and Experiences
Went to fix a puncture, turns out old puncture started leaking.
Had to change rear tyre to Michelin Pilot Street 150/60 eventually.
Inspected the front and it had developed several minor cracks, changed the front to Michelin Pilot Street 110/70, for peace of mind.
Total cost was 10k
9.6k for tyres, 400 bucks for installation and credit card charges.
For first 20 kms here's what I observed.- Rear feels more grippier, not sure coz of worn out metz vs brand new Mich.
- Braking distance is significantly less.
- Front feels heavy and kind of feeling the inertia while turning. Say, on metz I lean a bit, take a turn and back to straight position without any hitch, everything feels light. But on Michelin front, once I lean in, the bike feels like it falling to that side, say you lean a bit and want to keep that position, but the bike wants more lean, not too much to instill fear of falling. Have to see how things turn out to be after break in.
- Curvature of rear Mich is a bit flat when compared to Metz, more contact patch, more grip & lesser mileage I guess? Have to wait and see how it pans out.
Saved almost 10k over Metz and I use my 390 more or less as a commute to office these days. So Michelin made more sense.
Hope I don't have to regret my decision.
Same exact issue with my 390.Originally posted by nasirkaka View Postat 21K kms and 1.8 years, there is been no real trouble from the engine. Some other issues which i recollect are:

Head gasket was replaced due to excess sweating, Front right side fork seal was replaced.
Head gasket is still sweating even after replacement, don't know what else to do.sigpic

Is this replaced as part of warranty or are we suppose to pay for this. My point being, it has happened to me as well. If I need to pay then I better get this replaced outside instead of svc.Originally posted by nasirkaka View Postat 21K kms and 1.8 years, there is been no real trouble from the engine. that depends on the svc and how you deal with them. i know ppl who've had it covered under warranty and others who had to pay for it.Originally posted by faizan.ali View PostIs this replaced as part of warranty or are we suppose to pay for this. i had a leak from the valve cover gasket, and had them replace it under warranty.
and i wouldn't recommend getting it done outside, quality of work and availability of spares could be an issue.
am sure the svc has handled enough of these fork seal replacements to be able to do a decent job.. and if they screw up you can hold em responsible and ask them to fix it up again. make sure whatever repairs the bike goes in for, you get a job card made and enter your comments on the job card before you sign it.Last edited by s1d; 06-10-2015, 01:23 AM.

Covered under warranty if the bike is under warranty. In my case, first time, only seal was replaced under warranty at around 3.5k kms. 2nd time, seal along with the down tube was replaced under warranty. 3rd time, only seal was replaced under warranty. All this were before 10k kms on odo. Thankfully, the seal is been holding good since then. touchwood, it stays put.Is this replaced as part of warranty or are we suppose to pay for this. I had the following replaced under warranty (duke 200/ serviced at ktm banjara):Originally posted by sriharsha_madineni View PostHave you paid labour charges for warranty repairs?
I was charged 1xx bucks for head gasket replacement and 4xx for fork seal replacement, both were replaced under warranty.
1. Front disc rotor at around 2400km
2.valve cover gasket (not head gasket) , recently at third service @10500km
3. Petrol tank "Cup + the rubber dampener that comes with it" recently at third service @10500km
All three were under warranty and I paid nothing for it, not even labor charges. They tried to write Rs100 as labor in the job card for the disc rotor replacement, but I told them firmly that I will not pay a penny and they struck it out.
