Re: KTM Duke 390 - Owners Reviews and Experiences
Well, I suggest you first take a test drive of both the duke and rc. Like many pointed out, the duke is the more practical bike and the rc is not very comfortable for everyone. Ride both a few times and make up your mind. Heat is normal and you will get used to it.Originally posted by insurancehunter View PostI like how the RC looks. always wanted a full faired one. I dont care for comfort as i wont use it to commute daily. maybe 3 days a week will be used. Performance is same i guess for rc and duke so just as usable as duke. im a single guy ,no dependents. took me 1 year to save this 1.5 lakhs. monthly expenditure is just on commute , eating out, etc which is around 7k. i will not take any loan for it.
Since you like faired bikes and you dont ride much, then rc should be ok. But first test ride it.
You do not want to spend so much money and then after a few days go into a closed room and bang your head for making the wrong decision.

If you want it, get it because you will never repent it.Originally posted by insurancehunter View Postguys do you think buying a RC 390 when i earn only 24k /month is alright ? or is it living beyond my means. have saved up 1.5 lakhs and was thinking of a new bike on my 26th birthday this october.
There are very very few prettier and faster things on the road than the RC390.There is no better therapy than riding a bike down a straight road at full throttle with the sound of the engine for company.

Same for me i like RC 390 and i am still confused to go for RC 39 / DUke 390 or RC 200 huh .Already paid booking for RC 200 but still confused . As my usage will be very low say 10 KMS that is only in weekend . I will not be using RC every dayOriginally posted by s1d View PostWell, I suggest you first take a test drive of both the duke and rc. Re: KTM Duke 390 - Owners Reviews and Experiences
I'm ex duke owner, and current rc owner. My 2 cents.
First some details, I'm 6 feet, 95 kgs.
I have toured on duke 200, and after 1-1.5hrs, bum sore becomes unbearable. Add to that, i used to have pain in my inner thigh, due to locking in. Somehow, it wasn't ergonomic for me.
Now, on rc, the bike "fits" me ergonomically. The wrist pain, which was there for few 100 kms, is much less now(its there when you have some pillion). Bum case is same as duke, 1-1.5hrs and thats it. But i don't get the irritating inner thigh pain like duke. And now that I'm used to it, its so fun in traffic too.Motorcycling heals, big time...

I am similarly built as you, and I own the d200. I have ridden for 3-4 hours non stop on touring (on 5 consecutive days) without any bum sores or thigh pains. To an extent it depends on your posture (a lot of ppl sit very rigidly). The normal fatigue of riding for a long time will exist be it any motorcycle. It definitely does boil down to the individual.Originally posted by ynike99 View PostI'm ex duke owner, and current rc owner. My 2 cents.

Apart from looks (which is again subjective to each individual) and track use potential, the Duke is a better proposition in every other way, considering the D390 now even comes with a slipper clutch and a few other improvements.
It's best for each individual to first take a few test rides before deciding on buying a bike. I hate it when people just listen to the banter on the web and make choices
especially motorcycles.
And for the guy @rishii who is confused to whether he wants a 200 or 390, should understand that they are two different machines so no comparison should be made. If you have the moolah, go get the 390 if not settle for the 200. RC or Duke, enough has been said already !
btw these double posts while replying are annoying, why is it happening Admins ?

Hi Jagjit, I see that it's now been a year since you installed those projector pairs. I had queries as I was looking forward to get projector head lamps installed as well.Originally posted by jagjit_singh View PostHi Dukers, I made some Art works on my 390,, here is some pics,,,,

1. Has the addition of two projectors affected the battery since the head light is also there?
2. I liked the way you didn't play with the stick head lights. Does this mean that your warranty is not void?
3. After a year of usage, do you recommend getting this pair fitted or wud you suggest just a projector head lamp instead?
4. Most importantly, where in Karol Bagh?

Hi Jagjit_singh,
Wow, love your projector headlamps. Please share more pics, and also of other modifications if you've done any.
Could you please give us more details about those lights, like the brand, wattage, element type, price, your comments etc.
I find my headlamps woefully inadequate at night especially on the highway at places where people in the opposite lane choose to drive on high beam and I have to see that through my visor and specs.
Also, I'm in Bangalore, so any idea about suppliers online or offline who I could refer to?
Thanks.

He got it from Karol bagh and fabricated the covers himself.
Now after a trip from Thailand the led projectors have changed to a more powerful one.

Thanks Jagjit ji, I'm planning to seek options tomorrow in Karol Bagh for the projectors. Although I doubt I'll find someone who can build such twins since you custom made yours.Originally posted by jagjit_singh View Postthanks for like mate, my answers in bold,

OVERSEE SERVICES @ ASC?
1. Hey do you guys stand right in the service centre and watch your bike being worked on all through or do you just give the keys and come back to collect the bill? I'd much rather stay there and see every thing that's done to my bike, so I'm wondering how normal that is, and how it's typically received at KTM.
2. Also, any tips on getting them to work on my bike ASAP and not just put it in a queue, 'sir 6 ghante baad number ayega' style?
I went at 9:45 after asking the guy, who said come at 9:30.. he said sorry, we have too much work since it's a Saturday, I meant come before 9:30. When I asked him the best day he said you give it on a weekday, pref Tue-Wed and you'll get it by evening.
I see no reason why I should have to keep my bike there for a whole day when the whole process is likely to take under 2 hours.Last edited by Shaurya7; 04-25-2015, 08:22 PM.

Re: KTM Duke 390 - Owners Reviews and Experiences
I always make sure that I am present whenever the svc guy works on my machine. Typically everyone comes on weekends, hence there is always a rush on weekends. When going on weekends, the best time to be present is 9 AM, when the svc opens up, this way you will be among the first serviced, if not the first. You can also go on Friday evening and have a talk with the manager, to keep the bike overnight, so that it gets serviced first in the morning on Saturday.Originally posted by Shaurya7 View PostOVERSEE SERVICES @ ASC?

Re: KTM Duke 390 - Owners Reviews and Experiences
No hard and fast rule here. I personally find it difficult to be present during the entire service so I leave the bike there. Only if its a new service center, then I stand by. On a weekend it's difficult to get them to work on your bike right away due to rush. That said, here in Bangalore at least I don't find service bays of KTMs crowded all the time. Small jobs the attend ASAP.Originally posted by Shaurya7 View PostOVERSEE SERVICES @ ASC?
