Have test ridden a Duke 390, Duke 200 and RC 390 with RC390 and Duke 200 on the same day. You will certainly find that Duke 200 vibrations smoothen out as soon as you touch 50kmph on 3rd gear whereas both duke and rc390 have noticeable but certainly not irritating level of vibration, but the 200 feels underpowered heavily after a initial test ride on RC 390 . I would suggest you to go for Duke 390 since you have already owned a Duke 200 and your experience will only get better with the 390. Also on front braking hard on RC 390 the crotch rams up against the tank [emoji14] (maybe I am not sitting properly as required)

Reg the crotch hitting the tank while braking on RC yes that happens try and put more pressure on the front (handles) while braking that hard so that u hit ur stomach instead of crotch :POriginally posted by flux52 View PostHave test ridden a Duke 390, Duke 200 and RC 390 with RC390 and Duke 200 on the same day. Re: KTM Duke 390 - Owners Reviews and Experiences
Hi guys
My bike is getting overheated and bike is stalling in city traffic which is moderate traffic. Previously i had similar issues and SVC mechanics changed thermostat.
What solution can be done?

the 390 for sure!Originally posted by venkatesh_B View PostHi,
I sold my Duke 200 almost a year back as I got a car. I would like to get a bike again. I'm confused between 200 and the 390. Price being a factor. I've seen a Duke 390 (1.5 yrs old and 10k kms run) and the price seems to be good. My running is about 70kms a day. Should I go back to Duke 200 (I'm sure I won't regret it. I have been regretting all these days for selling it though).
Any suggestion would be quite helpful."" - Shubhabrata Marmar

Re: KTM Duke 390 - Owners Reviews and Experiences
Guys, one serious query. I booked a duke 390, and its under process for registration. I forgot to ask the manufacturing year. What are the chances that the bike is of older gen? If it is, can something be done from my part?

Re: KTM Duke 390 - Owners Reviews and Experiences
Just follow the manufacturers recommendation. The engine revs very freely and you will not be able to control it in discrete units of 500 rpm. A small twist of throttle and you are already at 6000 rpmOriginally posted by anarchy911 View PostSo, I ll be receiving the bike in a few days, wanted to ask about the run-in procedure. Its written everywhere to keep rpms below 7.5k for 1000kms and then an oil change. Now for my previous bike, P180, the run in was done in the following method-
Rpm increased by 1k after every 500kms. Started at 5k rpm and ended the run in after 2000kms. Changed the engine oil at 200-250kms, then at 1000, and at 2000.
Which method is most suitable for the bike? And for the oil change at 250 kms mark, which engine oil should I go for?

Regarding the oil change there is really no need to change so many times. Again just follow the manufacturers recommendation. You can change at 250km but you will just be wasting oil and money. Change at 1000km at 1st service mark. KTM recommends Motul and that is very good oil.

It depends on where you are riding. If majority of riding is in city, D200 will be a better option.Originally posted by venkatesh_B View PostHi,

That's sexy. A DIY? Or from some shop?Originally posted by P3T3R View PostThe SZR windscreen is available in clear and black tinted. However the black was out of stock. Someone suggested I get it smoked, but since Smoking is injurious to health, I got it "Beered".

Thanks. Got it done at Pasting Ideas (check out their FB Page). My idea was to print the logos of various beers on the screen but the owner of the shop suggested the covers instead. He has been doing graphics on all my vehicles since 1997.Originally posted by anarchy911 View PostThat's sexy. A DIY? Or from some shop?

Crash guard ?
I am looking to replace the current crash guard that the bike came in with.
I bet I can bend or brake the screws and mounting plate just by looking at it !
Happned 2nd time to me, a slight nudge did the damage.
Appreciate if I get links / info to products either in Mumbai, India, Abroad.
Mind you I am not looking at frame sliders, but proper crash protectors (I can live with the looks and the weight)
Thanks.
PS - another reason to miss my P180 '04 which was built like a tankBefore - Waiting for 150 KMPH+ Indian bike

Re: Crash guard ?
Any particular reason for this? Frame sliders are good. Anyway I saw a heavy duty crash guard at the Options store in Goa. It was painted orange and looks like an extension of the chassis.Originally posted by Mightisright View PostMind you I am not looking at frame sliders, but proper crash protectors (I can live with the looks and the weight)

The crash guard you mention seems the kind I am looking for.Originally posted by P3T3R View PostAny particular reason for this? Frame sliders are good. Anyway I saw a heavy duty crash guard at the Options store in Goa. It was painted orange and looks like an extension of the chassis.
Appreciate if you could share more details
something like this could be good - Crash bars KTM 390 Duke 13-14 orange
Cross tube with multiple point connection to the frame
I met with two incedents wherein there was a mild impact once and a nudge from a tire today on the crash guard (both from the front) and the screws got bent !
Not to blame the soft screws or the fitment, but the design of the guard sends all the impact force directly to the 2 screws and a thin mounting plate.
The design is flawed. There could have been a horizontal tube across the frame.
There was another rider who had posted about a full fledged accident on this thread. His left crash guard was flat aginst the engine and he had hurt his knee.
A frame slider will not protect from such an impactLast edited by Mightisright; 05-18-2015, 02:34 PM.Before - Waiting for 150 KMPH+ Indian bike

Re: Crash guard ?
You'd be better off with a damaged crash guard than a damaged engine/frame. The current crash guard IMO is sufficient for normal spills, and yes it does deform easily.. which is a good thing because it is absorbing the impact rather than it being too rigid and transferring the force to the mounts/frame.Originally posted by Mightisright View PostI am looking to replace the current crash guard that the bike came in with.

And it's a cheap replacement and only the damaged side can be replaced (because this is a 2 piece unit)
