Re: KTM Duke 390 - Owners Reviews and Experiences
Check your battery terminals too. About 300-350 pages back another dude was facing this stalling issue. His was so severe that everytime he pulled the lever in, it stalled. Started back up with no trouble. It turned out that one of his battery terminals were loose which was causing his bike to go kaputt.Originally posted by s1d View PostLast edited by rohangk; 10-12-2015, 01:37 PM.What do you call a biker who does not wear a helmet? Re: KTM Duke 390 - Owners Reviews and Experiences
I went for a ride yesterday. The bike performed amazingly. The hairpin bends were a joy to ride with the bike, can only imagine how awesome I'd be on an RC390. It's a long ride of 240 km from Bangalore on a straight and well-maintained highway, can only imagine how aweful it'd be on an RC390.
Even on D390, my arse was paining and I was always moving around the seat to reduce it.
Was riding in speeds of ~90 kph every time but on the way to the hills I did a few high speed runs, met with fellow riders at CCD who were riding CBR650Fs (2) and saw a black Z800. The economy was 32 kpml.
And, the biggest shock. I wanted to extract as much kms out of the fuel as I could, so on my way back I rode in speeds of 85-100 kph without any high speed runs, varying RPM from 5k-6.5k, and when I calculated, it gave me a whopping 40.08 kmpl! The odo was showing me 39 kmpl. I must have broken in the bike properly.
Here's the Fuelly link: Shorty (KTM 390 duke) | Fuelly
The way back was hell though. Was late, was dark already, was raining like crazy, the road was filled with slow-as-hell moving traffic and lorries trying to "overtake" other snail-like lorries at 13 kmph (A guy took ~30 seconds to overtake). The tyres provided amazing grip, braking was great.
Only thing I noticed was a centimeter of oil trail from that 0-0 seal, I guess it's the oil weep issue. Need to get that fixed. And also the bike needs a proper wash and chain maintenance.

I'm 6'1. And if I sit 90 degree straight, the wind chokes me up. But if I crouch a little, it goes over the helmet.Originally posted by turbosphere View PostNice visor.. Does it help with the windblast?
And that handguard also helps in keeping your gloves clean from bugs. :P

Once upon a time, a guy asked a girl 'Will you marry me?'
The girl said, 'NO!'
And the guy lived happily ever after and rode motorcycles and watched sport on a big screen TV, went fishing and surfing, and played golf a lot, and drank beer and scotch and had tons of money in the bank and left the toilet seat up and farted whenever he wanted.

Pl order one ASAP. It works like a charm and is about the size of your palm.Originally posted by B7ACKTHORN View PostHow would you rate the Resqtech tire inflator quality, nick of time I was pondering to get one!
Someone deflated my tire (or somehow the tire went flat). I was able to inflate the tire in under 5 minutes and head to the puncture wala a few km away. No puncture was detected despite multiple checks. It has been 5 days now and the air has since held up.
I did shoot a grainy video of the process (it was night) and will upload it shortly. Its pretty straight forward to use it.
Must have for bikers.Last edited by s1d; 10-12-2015, 11:58 PM.

Please dont quote posts with the pic. Makes it very hard for mobile users to read them.Originally posted by turbosphere View PostNice visor.. Does it help with the windblast? What do you call a biker who does not wear a helmet? An organ donor.

Re: KTM Duke 390 - Owners Reviews and Experiences
Thank u all for answering my queries.
Took a test ride of RC390 today. Fairly long ride of around 30-35 kms. Here are my observations:
1. The power is in no way intimidating for a ZMR rider. In fact, the bike felt pretty tame.
2. The bike does run hot. Feels when traffic is slow moving,
3. Has lot of vibes man lower down the rev range. Too much I'd say.
After my Test ride, when I sat on my ZMR, whoaaaa it felt heavenly. :respect:
4. The best thing about the 390 is the gearing. I sooo love it. They are so long. ZMR's gears (post Hero badging) are so-so short. Hate it.
5. FE is too low.
But, overall feel including power delivery, etc is good. Only, if they could've reduced the heat a lil bit and increased the mileage to around 30.

ZMR is a refined bike and it could have been so much more but Hero Honda split and that totally ended the future of Karizma.
I have been riding a karizma since 10 years and till date i enjoy it, just that there are more powerful bikes here.
If ZMR had come with a 400 cc double cylinder and fat rear tyre and better rear styling and ABS and at attractive price it would have been a killer bike
but its not so why dream.

Re: KTM Duke 390 - Owners Reviews and Experiences
Sorry, man.[emoji14] I just now realized one thing. Dunno, if it was the fault of the bike I was testing, but I did full rotation of the throttle but the bike was not going past 115 kmph. I tried really hard. I regularly do that on my bike. Maybe the Ktm showroom guys have reduced the top speed of the test bike to prevent accidents. But the bike was simply not going beyond 115, which can't be correct bcoz RC390 has a top speed of 170kmph.Originally posted by sanketss84 View PostWow test drive for 30~35 mins, thats superb.
