Re: KTM Duke 390 - Owners Reviews and Experiences
In city conditions you will get mileage around 25 kmpl but in highway condition maintaining speed of around 90 kmph at 6 th gear you will get a mileage of 30 kmpl. Even fellow RC 390 rider gets maximum mileage of 35 kmpl on highway ( using tank to tank method) and on an average he gets 30 kmpl on highway by maintaining speed of 80-100kmph.Originally posted by jack_daniels View Post

Is the mileage of Duke 390 less than RC?? Will it increase if I use Michelin Pilot Street?Originally posted by Chandan92 View PostIn city conditions you will get mileage around 25 kmpl but in highway condition maintaining speed of around 90 kmph at 6 th gear you will get a mileage of 30 kmpl. Actually, initially my Zmr also gave very less mileage. At the start, around 28-30 kmpl. Then slowly started increasing & now at 11k kms, gives 44 kmpl easily.
Btw thanks to all for solving my queries. All young riders here.

Re: KTM Duke 390 - Owners Reviews and Experiences
In city traffic duke gives me 25 kmpl and on highway it varies from 28-30 kmpl. If one rides it sanely it will give you 28 kmpl constantly. I have no idea of mileage on michelin tyres although i will change it after 3-4k kms ( current odo is 11k kms ).Originally posted by jack_daniels View PostIs the mileage of Duke 390 less than RC?? City riding too does have empty stretches where you could open up the throttle a bit more, in fact even I'd say 390 is a much better option than a 200, with the metzelers and the bosch ABSOriginally posted by rohangk View Post28-30. Good luck with that, in the city next to impossible, you wont have fun if you ride either of these bikes slowly.
I go with my friend on his 390 almost everyday and I still get a thrill out of it

28 kmpl constant? What type of traffic? I'm guessing not 1st gear kinda traffic.Originally posted by Chandan92 View PostIn city traffic duke gives me 25 kmpl and on highway it varies from 28-30 kmpl. I saw your DIY post and replied to it yesterday.. unfortunately its still pending mods approval.Originally posted by deville_56 View PostHad the first paid service last week. I think the way you changed the coolant might have caused this overheating issue.
You should always first fill up the radiator with coolant and then only fill up the expansion tank. You had mentioned that you just filled up the expansion tank and ran the bike and then again filled it up after a the engine was run for sometime (yes the radiator sucks in fluid from expansion tank). This is not the right way to do it.

It was the dead radiator fan that was causing the heating problem and ended up being changed under warranty.Originally posted by s1d View PostI saw your DIY post and replied to it yesterday.. unfortunately its still pending mods approval.

There was coolant leak and oil leak even before. After the DIY coolant change, it again spilled after maybe a thousand or 2k km (which they claim as happened because someone removed the radiator cap (I wasn't at the scene to confirm this)), and ended up being filled with stock coolant at SVC. By the time this happened, it was stock coolant, filled by KTM people
I never meant filling up the expansion tank only and run and refill. Loosening the radiator cap and filling the reservoir will of course fill up the radiator and yes, you can always fill the radiator directly. What I supposed was, after everything is done, just warm up the engine and cool down to get the right levelOriginally posted by s1d View PostYou should always first fill up the radiator with coolant and then only fill up the expansion tank. I did the changes based on the manual. Feels wiered to see low number when you are going fast. So came back to KMPH instead of MPHOriginally posted by Bornagainbiker View PostHi Jack. Has anyone considered that the speedo on these bikes can be switched between Kilometres Per Hour and Miles Per Hour? Lots people (test customers and staff) fiddling with the console could have switched it without changing it back or even knowing. Accounting for optimism in most speedo's on vehicles, and the fact that 115MPH is approximately 180KPH, I hypothesise that this is possibly what has happened.
The 390's don't feel fast either. I think someone else mentioned that 80KPH feels like 50KPH..............
My 390 has been consistently giving 29-30 KMPL in city. And of 32000 KMS it did. close to 29000 KMS it has done in city commuting.Originally posted by rohangk View Post28-30. Wow you must be a superhero or something, mine barely gives a mileage of 24 in city, on highways I have seen a figure as high as 36.Originally posted by riazmomin View PostMy 390 has been consistently giving 29-30 KMPL in city.
