WD-40 is an penetrant. It penetrates X-Rings & dissolves sealed grease in it.Originally posted by timuseravan View Post

wd40 does not dissolve anything.. relax. in fact it has less cleaning power compared to say commercial chain cleaners!Originally posted by Shyam Cmr View PostWD-40 is an penetrant. It penetrates X-Rings & dissolves sealed grease in it.

wd40 is mostly made of a kerosene type of compound (you might want to read the material safety and data sheet aka msds)
it's just a waste of money IMO using these sprays (wd or the other chain cleaners). using kerosene is economical and is also recommended by the manufacturer.
using petrol though is a big no!

I bought and serviced my bike 3 times there. It's been a good experience. They've expanded their showroom and also their servicing area. It's a lot roomy now.Originally posted by AngadV View PostWill be visiting Mekhri circle SVC next, it has good reviews on google, really hoping for a good experience.
But most recommend Kasturba Road Bajaj (also services KTMs) as the best in town.

Sorry I used it only once and so I thought it is. Yea it looked somewhat like kerosene. Oily.Originally posted by s1d View Postwd40 does not dissolve anything.. relax. in fact it has less cleaning power compared to say commercial chain cleaners!

But read in some international forums that it dissolves grease.
Anyway why risk with it when we have kerosene. I use kerosene & old tooth brush. 200ml of kerosene lasts upto 4 cleaning I guess.
Is diesel better option than kerosene ?? Because it has less penetration capacity than kerosene.
Correct me if am wrong, kerosene Is like between diesel & petrol having both properties a bit.

My process (using paddock stand and bike in first gear) is:- Jet Spray of water on the chain
- After 5 mins, WD40 spray
- After 5 mins, another jet spray of water
- After 5 mins, chain lube
No mess and fiddling around with toothbrush.KTM Duke 390 | RE Interceptor 650

DUKE 390 FRONT TIRE REPLACEMENT
I need to get my front Metz replaced after 27k (it feels really skiddy now). I replaced my rear Metz at 17k with a Michelin Pilot Street radial 150/60. Happy with its endurance, although it skids a bit once in a while, which, while enjoyable, is not too confidence inspiring. My options:
1. MICHELIN Pilot SRdl 110/70 : Rs 4.5k? : seems well reviewed.
2. PIRELLI Sport Demon 110/70 : Rs 4.5k? : like Michelin but softer (will they last less)
3. METZELER Sportec M5 110/70 : Rs 7.8k? : is it worth the extra money?
4. PIRELLI Rosso 2 __________ : Rs ????? : how are these?
These are prices that I heard from people, I haven't yet checked in JC Road. - Please correct me if I'm wrong.
USAGE: Mainly touring, often high speed + occasional off roading + some city commute.
I'm currently thinking of options 1 and 2 (heard great stuff about 4 too).
Am I missing something out? What are your thoughts?

Re: KTM Duke 390 - Ownership Reviews and Experiences
The metzeler lasted 30,400kms on the front. I generally am hard at corners but I brake gradually. That explains the riding pattern.
If you guys are in bangalore, or can contact Orion Motors, you should be able to get the front tire for 6506 fixed price like how I did..
The rosso is available at 5600(+- 100 rupees). My BiKe DoEsN't LeAk OiL, iT mArK's ItS TeRriToRy !

KTM Duke 390 - Ownership Reviews and Experiences
Am planning for Ladakh trip this July from chennai
I think Metz won't perform well & will go bald before i get there. Since I already did 4.5k kms and will be doing a thousand or two kilometres more than that before July.
Any good tyres that work well for touring.
Do I need to change front tyres too ??

Easy DIY: Bike charger for 2015 Duke 390
For models with accessory cable in doom use the easy method quoted at bottom.
Tip: no need to remove doom to check for availability of "accessories 2" cable. Check your fuse box. If it has fuse named accessory 2 then you are lucky. If it doesn't. Hard way connecting it to battery.
[/B] Things Required: [/b]
1. Charger - Bought this from Amazon from seller named Vheelocity for ~600. Others cost twice the money. Amazon says Only 2 left in stock but dealer said they have more than 250 pieces.
2. Switch Pull push type switch ₹30 from local bike spares shop
3. Mounting plate ₹5 in same shop for fixing the switch

It has fuse in it [emoji1362]

Seems like cigarette lighter won't work because it don't have clip for holding. Pressing & holding lighter may work.
But this works with any car charger pins. Tried with my coido air pump. It worked perfectly.

Fixed it near rear brake reservoir.
Left side frame is free but am afraid heat from radiator & exhaust pipe heat.
As the pipe is soo thin charger was loose. So made it thick with a layer of white paper tape (from pharmacy) because insulation tape make it messy with its gum. and several layers of insulation tape for increasing thickness.and final layer of paper tape because insulation tape looks ugly.
Cut the plug in the charger & connected black wire to negative of battery directly & positive to the ⚠️switch which connects to positive of battery. ⚠️
Removed front seat. and bolted the switch below seat with an plate like in pic below.
I also insulated the plate because I think it may touch the positive of battery which means problem.
Looking for some other place to keep the switch which is easily accessible and hidden from others view as well. Below seat is perfect but needs removing of pillion seat to switch it on/off

Phone charging - working
Air pump - working [emoji16]
⚠️Update: if you are using pump use a bigger fuse. My pump is 13A this one comes with 5A didn't noted that & blew up my fuse. If you want to use pump have an spare 15A fuse and use it only while using pump. For mobile charging stick with 5A or risk frying your mobile ⚠️
[MENTION=16543]Skanda[/MENTION] I don't have accessory on my 2015 Duke 390 black. Which year is yours.Originally posted by Skanda View PostGot a chance to check the LED's. Find out the review here -> http://www.xbhp.com/talkies/showthread.php?p=1225767 .
I installed 12V power and USB that I got from AliExpress sometime last year. Connected these to accessories port which is available in the headlight case. Works great and pretty helpful on long rides. Can connect directly to action cams (no need to worry about 2hr battery back up from action cam batteries) and other batteries can be charged easily along with the tank bag.

BTW what fuse you have in it.

Nice post! I have Feb 2016 version. I replaced mine with 15A fuse the day I got it, forgot to mention that in the post. However, the accessory fuse under the rear seat is of 10A. Portable air compressor needs around 8A, so it should be fine.Originally posted by Shyam Cmr View PostEasy DIY: Bike charger for 2015 Duke 390

I should have waited for 3 months. My dad bought it without informing me it else I would be having 2016 model now [emoji19]Originally posted by Skanda View PostNice post! I have Feb 2016 version. I suggest you to change it to 5A for safety of devices. As its inside doom you could change the accessories fuse.
Am gonna use 5A again & use 15A only when using pump. My pump is my cars automatic one which is 13A.
It's awesome to have slipper clutch in RC. I didn't chose RC because of this.

I usually don't connect more than 8A. My mobile and battery chargers together max at 8A. I use a small and portable inflator which takes 6A (and won't connect all these together). And I usually calculate and measure these (gadget crazyOriginally posted by Shyam Cmr View PostI should have waited for 3 months. ) so I'm sure I won't be overloading them. By the way, I have changed the Fuse that comes with the charger to 15A and the accessory Fuse under the rear seat is still 10A. So I have two fuses to protect electrical components from getting overloaded.
