A humming sound from front as well when de acceleration. Visited service center couple of times, sometimes they acknowledge the sounds and later when i go they forget and they are not taking it seriously. Sent a mail to KTM and this Saturday I will know.
KTM service Center Seawoods by the way.
Even I had "Whoaoow" sound at 3.5k rpm after first service. It's fine now.
But while typing this I thought that this was from my Sidestand.
The nuts became loose. So my side stand is wobbling. Nut is now touching the silencer which is stopping it from falling.
Treads of nut worn out now. I think I may need to change whole left footrest if treads on it worn out.
And another problem I had is gear connecting rod not properly tightened on gear lever which damaged tread in lever now using it with a duct tape.
Check these two. Get the problem fixed before it's too late. High speed vehicle needs proper care.
I saw an crashguards in delepmenez blog. It's an metal one which actually saves from crash & he imported it from revzilla I guess.Originally posted by niku View PostI didn't like that Universal thing sold in Amazon.
Without crash guards 390 looks smaller like 200. Even orange makes it look smaller.
White suits my bikes pet name albatross [emoji51]
I smell petrol every time I go near my bike is that normalLast edited by Shyam Cmr; 05-16-2016, 05:54 PM.

I don't know about the heat repercussions regarding that so I won't be bothering about changing the stock bulbs ever.
The exhaust note is a little different as well. It seems the decibel level has been reduced. I don't see much differences otherwise.

Perhaps your fuel tank cap key hole flap, they are notoriously prone for vibrating and produce a whining/buzzing noise at certain RPMs especially when decelerating. Try riding the bike with the key hole flap open at varying RPMs and see how it fares.

Re: KTM Duke 390 - Ownership Reviews and Experiences
Hello guys, i have bit of problem.
My duke 390 is from 2014 jan and I have covered 31 k km till date.
currently I'm facing 2 problems.
1 - My speedo meter is showing zero [on off kinda thing sometime its shows and sometimes it doesnt].
2 - My low beam light also getting on off while riding and the quality of low beam light is not the same when it was new [high beam is working fine].
There is no report/ flash of low battery on the screen though.
I was searching some old post and came to know that this is due to the malfunctioning of stater coil. Since the bike is not in warranty any more, i'll have to pay for the new one.
Any idea what is the price of new starter coil ?
Do i have to change the light/bulb of the bike ?
any other thing i should look for ?
Cheers

31k that's excellent mileage, CMG. Are these the first issues you're facing in your 31k of ownership, what parts have been replaced earlier under warranty, if any, your inputs would help people get an insight into long term reliability of the motorcycle. Please let us know your little ownership review, so that we all can get more insight into our machines.
Stator costs close to 1400 rupees for the D390.
Cheers!

first get the battery checked at the svc or at a local battery guy.Originally posted by coolmaverickguy View PostHello guys, i have bit of problem.

if you have a multi-meter, you could do the basic tests yourself.. download a copy of the workshop manual and see if the voltages are within range and also the stator coil resistance values.
if the battery and coil test ok then:
it could be as simple as the speedo sensor gone bad.
and the light issue could be a bad bulb or a bad connection at the switch/wiring.

Re: KTM Duke 390 - Ownership Reviews and Experiences
Hey Bro,Originally posted by Hemant Singh View PostHi,
I want to discuss an issue (hopefully not) with my duke.
I have a 2016 Duke 390. Yesterday while going over a speed breaker with a pillion the bike scratched it's bottom twice.
Ever since then, I am feeling that the suspension has become extra stiff, the read end is jumping very hard on even the smallest of potholes.
While breaking hard at high speeds I felt very slight wobbling in the bike but that can also be due to the uneven road.
The side stand has also got affected as, on side stand if I place the headlight of the bike to the right the bike starts to fall.
Can anyone suggest what to look for a faulty suspension please. How to check for leaking front forks and if the rear suspension can also leak oil or gas ??
Thanks
even i had a similar problem on my DUKE 200, i made the suspension more hard. there is a scale from 3 - 10. i have made it 8. Now it is fine, even with pillion it does not touch the ground. So increase the suspension as per your wish.
Cheers.

At 1400 km my bikes bore piston was changed under warranty. after that regular servicing at 5k km interval.
Rear wheel bearing had been changed around 25 k km, but little bit of sound is still coming so have to check the swing-arm bearing as recommended by you. but my svc is yet to have it in stock even after 2 months.
New sprocket was used/ changed around 15 k km.
Rear tyre had been changed to mrf revz at 15 k km [avoid not good over 130 kmh speed ].
Front tyre had been changed to Michelin pilot street radial at 25 k km [very nice tyre]
front brake pad has been changed at 25k km rear one are still in stock.
new query - should I change my coolant its been 2 years. [i'm using the motul motocool]
cant check my self as i dont have the mentioned tool.Originally posted by s1d View Postfirst get the battery checked at the svc or at a local battery guy.

I have forgot to mention this as it just came to my mind. Last week I and my group rode over a train bridge. while getting on and off the train track there was quite some jerk. I guess some cable got loosed inside the headlight section. hope it got sorted out cheaply or else i have to shell-out some cash
Cheers

two years is about time you changed the coolant. if possible flush out the system with a couple of litres of distilled water and refill with motul motocool.Originally posted by coolmaverickguy View Postnew query - should I change my coolant its been 2 years. [i'm using the motul motocool

as for the headlights.. don't assume, rather check the connections.. it could be a lose connection and you might not have to shell out cash.
as for the battery/stator coil check, head to the svc and they will do it for you.
what needs to be checked is:
1. battery voltage with bike off (should be at least 12.6 V)
2. battery voltage at 5000rpm (start the bike and open throttle hold it at 5000rpm) - the voltage across the battery should be between 13.5 to 15V. if its more than 15V then the voltage regulator has to be replaced (according to workshop manual)
3. check the stator coil by measuring resistance across the pins
pin1 and pin2 : <=1ohm
pin1 and pin3 : <=1ohm
pin1 and ground(negative battery): infinity
some dealers have the battery testing cum charging station, which can do further tests like battery potential at load. this machine also does a trickle charge the way batteries are supposed to be charged and automatically cuts off. (unlike a local battery shop who mostly resort to a quick charge in an hour or two)
so depending the tests, a simple recharge might suffice or proceed accordingly if a part needs to be replaced. maybe first get it recharged if necessary and observe for a few days before replacing other parts depending on the results of the above tests.
it's ok if you don't have the tools.. but we should learn the basic stuff to not get ripped off at the mechanics'.

Re: KTM Duke 390 - Ownership Reviews and Experiences
I'm out on a ride as of now and noticed something strange. The lights on the console yo alert us about the indicator keeps blinking at random. It's just the light, not the actual indicator. If I indicate to either direction and cancel, it will go off, but starts blinking after a few seconds. Its starts dim and slowly brightens up, but not always. I rode from TVM to Cochin on friday eve, with heavy rain and been riding in Cochin in the rain as well, but noticed it just now. Any possible explanations? Rain the console or the controls? I am going to be unable to take the bike to the SVC for a weeks time, unless it's absolutely necessary. Basically worried about battery drain.Last edited by ananthu; 05-17-2016, 08:30 AM.Must ride on!

I think my tank is leaking.
I get this smell when I get on my bike.
But today From morning Am sitting ~2-3m near my bike and I get that smell often.
At first I thought it's because of overflow every time I fill the tank. But now it looks like leak [emoji20]

Does anyone else have same problem??

Re: KTM Duke 390 - Ownership Reviews and Experiences
I faced the exact same issue in my Duke. Yes, you are right, it slowly lights up and flashes very fastly, the moment you turn the indicators on, they turn off and then repeat after some time. And guess what even I had a long rainy stint before that, riding during heavy rains causes this, water inside indicator relay. Blow some compressed or make sure you get the bike some adequate sunshine, it should get back to normal.Originally posted by ananthu View PostI'm out on a ride as of now and noticed something strange. And once the ignition is turned off, it doesn't turn on, it flickers and lights up on the console only with ignition and when the bike has been run in heavy rains.
Suggest you not to ride much with this condition, the thing can flame up any time. Visiting your nearest SVC is your best bet, imperative, Check for any cracks on the fuel tank, cracks in hose or faulty O ring. Get them replaced.
