Hello!
Is this bike (d390 2014) is equipped with any immobilizer?
My dealer said that the key has a chip
but I doubt
The bike can be installed with an aftermarket immobilizer, though there is a provision for it on the bike itself which I reckon is a KTM accessory. This light shows up, with a factory fitted immobilizer. Secondly, one way to find if your bike has this immobilizer is to see this key light lit up on your console, if it does, then yes, if it doesn't then no.
So I have plans to buy the 2017 Duke/RC. I generally drive on open roads and highways (delhi) and nearby areas.
But once in a while, I have to ride on congested roads( 5-20 min of stop/start traffic). I always switch off the engine at red lights (if more than 20 seconds).
And once or twice a month, I need to ride to places like meerut, where it is hard to exceed 35-50kmph almost throughout the journey (100km).
I have two questions- is the heat bearable for such usage? And will it stop in traffic in the conditions I mentioned?
Note that 90 percent of the time I ride on free roads at speeds between 70-110 .
Undercutting it, yes the bike's heat is completely bearable, provided one does not ride on shorts, bermudas or any track pants, as the heat can be quite uncomfortable. Once the bike crosses 50 KMPH the engine heat pretty much subsides. The bike doesn't love city limits and shows its temperament with increased frequency of fan kicking in. Nonetheless, on highway, it's a different story, and she delivers her best in highways.
Once upon a time, a guy asked a girl 'Will you marry me?'
The girl said, 'NO!'
And the guy lived happily ever after and rode motorcycles and watched sport on a big screen TV, went fishing and surfing, and played golf a lot, and drank beer and scotch and had tons of money in the bank and left the toilet seat up and farted whenever he wanted.
Hey brothers.am from coimbatore ,am having Duke 390.am planning to run iron butt upcoming month suggest me good route and wat are all I have to do for tat.
Spare parts price might have increased due to the implementation of GST and local VAT. Do share a copy of the invoice if you replace your sprocket. The last I can remember is the sprocket kit was close to 1600 + 350~ (quote from memory) including labor. It may be 3000+ for the current ones.

Well recently changed the chain set in August and paid 2700 for chain set + 240 for the chain sliders and 300 for labour totaling
2700+300+240= 3240 including GST here in Gurgaon.
And yes it is a significant increase from what it used to cost earlier.

Re: KTM Duke 390 - Ownership Reviews and Experiences
Hello Folks!
Considering buying the Duke 390 for a 60 km travel from home to office everyday.
Just had a few questions:
1. If I don't rev the engine too much, can I expect a mileage of 25 - 28 kmpl?
2. When I took a test drive, the rear brakes didn't seem to work much. Are we supposed to majorly use the front brakes even at speed? Will the abs prevent the rider from toppling over?
3. During the test drive, I felt a lot of heat when stuck at a signal. Is this normal or is that bike having issues?
4. What is the self-maintenance that needs to be done in between the mandatory bike services?

Hey,
1. You can get 30kmpl if the speed is under 100 kmph without traffic. With light traffic you can get 25kmpl easily.
2. Front tyres have more traction when braking, also the front brakes are powerful. ABS will handle the wheel locking.
3. Heat is normal in 390
4. Check the chain tension and adjust if needed, lube the chain every 500kms . Check the engine oil and coolent level. If you feel the engine not performing smoothly, you can service your bike early at 5k kms intravel.
If you are looking for 2017 390, there is a separate thread.

Was changing my friends Air Filter yesterday and noticed some oil in the air filter box. Is this blowby excessive? He's beeen riding it on max RPM's for most of the times. The bike is a new BS3 variant with just 3K on the ODO.
He also changed oil during run in, maybe he overfilled it a little? Because on touching the oil it didn't really feel like 7100.

Constant high rpm running can cause this-if all other parameters of the bike are Ok and the bike is running well, oil level is between the marks-this trace of oil is not an issue

Blowby residue, which is oil inside the AF is usually normal, and sometimes can be exacerbated with excess engine oil, nothing to worry about. You have a small drain plug at the bottom of the oil filter with a tube so as to drain the excess oil. Blowby is a residue of combustion by products, oil and what not, so the oil might not look as the same as the one filled in the crank case, let alone 7100. Nothing to worry about.
Cheers!

Carbon racing in FB selling the same. I'm using the radiator guards from them. Top notch quality.
