Issues turned out to be screwed engine head during decarb. I dunno what to do with these morons. Bike spent approx 75 days at SVC in 3 separate instances. First they said it was wiring kit 10-15k, then they said cylinder kit -26k, then throttle body - 7k. Unnecessarily changed radiator fan and piston rings in a perfectly baby'd bike and billed 10k. They only know replacing and check instead of proper diagnosing. Last thing they changed was the head to check and all issues vanished. Didn't pay anything since they only screwed it. Oil leak is like always dripping. They said 2 gaskets need to be changed and no stock.
Disappointed to see posts after posts of problems in various threads related to the 390s the 2017s are faring even worse than their old counterparts. Secondly, usually a botched up first engine job is the preceding factor for more mechanical failures and leads to consecutive repair jobs, and in your case it's only aggravated by incompetent mechanics. Which part exactly is the oil leak from the bike? What I'd suggest is pressure wash the bike cleanly and inspect the area of leak. Check it once again after a ride by making sure is it leaking from the vertical split of the engine or leaking from a completely sealed engine case or clutch or stator cover.

      Cheers!

          • Performance enhancement for ktm duke 390 (old model)

            Hello All,

Friend of mine in Kolkata is looking for a performance upgrade of his old Duke 390. Options cane be ECU Remapping coupled with modified exhaust (should be street legal in terms of decibel level).

Request suggestions from the experts on the following:Exact modifications (ECU and Exhaust or may be ECU only if thet does the trick).
What can be the expectation in terms of performance enhancement (acceleration & top speed)
Approximate expense of such modifications (Material + Labor)
Where the materials can be procured from? Is there any plug & play kind of gadget available? What are the best brands?
Any reliable garage recommended in Kolkata who can do such a job.

            Thanks & Regards

            Sagar

Had given my bike for servicing and once I got back the bike , I observed that the bike heats up a lot and high coolant temperature pops very frequently. Not even once I had seen this warning but now after getting it serviced , this is happening. Took it to the service centre and those guys told that the radiator fan is the culprit. Is it true ? Bike is 2years old and has clocked ~10k kms .

Is the fan working? If not, get the relay checked. My CBR250 got stuck in the middle of traffic cuz all the coolant leaked and radiator relay got fried

Yes Siddhanth, it is working but as per the service centre guys, it has slowed down and eventually it is going to die. Since the bike is 2years old, they said that this was bound to happen and I should not be surprised.

                      KTM DUKE 390 | PowerTRONIC
Spark GP Style Low Mount - Bachoo Motors

I am using the above two products and they are good. The exhaust is loud, not too loud.
You can Install powertronics by yourself and exhaust in any local shop.
The above two cost around 40K.

It don't heat up unless there is heavy traffic or you go above 130kmph
I have used my bike more than 10k kms with bent coolent flow pipe. It will leak from top on the above two scenarios. I have ridden with low coolent many times.
