Re: KTM Duke 390 - Ownership Reviews and Experiences
Being a little more precise, can at least give us some insight to the problem. Do you feel it's coming from the front forks of the bike. Did you try braking using the front brakes a litltle harder and did you observe that sound, similarly over speed breakers? Any job recently done on the motorcycle?Originally posted by Sushrut View PostOf late, under acceleration with more than ~25% of the throttle , there occurs a plasticky, "tak tak" noise from the front end. Any clues? Bike in question is the 2016 Duke

Once upon a time, a guy asked a girl 'Will you marry me?'
The girl said, 'NO!'
And the guy lived happily ever after and rode motorcycles and watched sport on a big screen TV, went fishing and surfing, and played golf a lot, and drank beer and scotch and had tons of money in the bank and left the toilet seat up and farted whenever he wanted.

Can't pinpoint the location, but yes, it's from the fork area. The noise occurs under acceleration only. Try doing a test. Try braking a little hard after acceleration and observe if the sound is present, same with speed breakers, if you hear a tak tak sound each time you go over a pothole or speedbreaker or during braking, our, try adjusting your fork stem adjustment nut, too loose or too right a coneset would mean handbar osscillation and these sounds. Get them checked if that's the case.Originally posted by Sushrut View PostCan't pinpoint the location, but yes, it's from the fork area. The noise occurs under acceleration only. Guys , today while cleaning the chain I had opened the front sprocket cover and I started the bike without putting it back and noticed oil oozing out of the middle hole . Is this normal ?2009-2012 Apache RTR Fi (Sold)

It's normal. That's of the engine magneto cover bolts, so yes, you will see slight oil weep every time you remove the bolt. Perfectly normal.Originally posted by Puneeth max View PostGuys , today while cleaning the chain I had opened the front sprocket cover and I started the bike without putting it back and noticed oil oozing out of the middle hole . Thanks for the response VJ. I have started to feel too much of vibrations(more of grinding) on the left footpeg in between 5-5.5k RPM post which it vanishes and there is no such vibrations below 5k as well. I changed the entire change set recently and have done 3k kms on the new set. Could you please let me know what might be the issue here?Originally posted by B7ACKTHORN View PostIt's normal. Staring off with basics, check your coolant level in the radiator, before that make sure your coolant reservoir has enough fluid. If that's a yes, then check your thermostat. A faulty thermostat or a faulty radiator pressure cap would mean high coolant temperature. Mostly it's down to a faulty thermostat. Start off with coolant, thermostat and radiator cap.Originally posted by Imam Jafer Ali View PostMy bike radiator fan running all the time for last one week and today showed the high coolent temperature and shutdown
Thank god happend near the home [emoji51]
Anyidea what could the issue ?

Too tight a chain can cause a rumbling sensation under the footpeg that you've experienced. Nonetheless, vibrations are always present at a certain RPM for a single cylinder engine. Would suggest you to have a look at your chain, and check the chain tension for tautness. If it's on the spec, nothing to worry, if it's too tight, de-slack them a pinch, as it releases the stress on the driveline. Do keep your observations posted.

Coolent level is high in the reservoir, till the neck. Removed the extra coolent now. Radiator fan runs fine, starts at 8 bar. Shall I take it to the svc to check the thermostat?Originally posted by B7ACKTHORN View PostStaring off with basics, check your coolant level in the radiator, before that make sure your coolant reservoir has enough fluid. Slightly higher coolant level in the reservoir is nothing to worry about. Keep a tab on the High Temp Warning, if you observe it frequently and with the fan running, get your thermostat checked at the SVC.Originally posted by Imam Jafer Ali View PostCoolent level is high in the reservoir, till the neck. Re: KTM Duke 390 - Ownership Reviews and Experiences
the 'extra' coolant is supposed to get sucked back in to the radiator once the temp comes down. that's how the coolant system works.. by pushing in coolant in to the expansion tank when the temp/pressure rises and sucking it back in once it drops.Originally posted by Imam Jafer Ali View PostCoolent level is high in the reservoir, till the neck. i'd say take it to the svc, check the condition of the oil and coolant (to rule out a blown seal/gasket)
then top up the coolant in the radiator and expansion tank.. put it on the paddock, fire it up and observe for a few minutes.. wait till the fan comes on and see what happens.

Road the bike again it stalled, took it the svc and mechanic says "Gasket gone need to be replaced by removing the engine". Need to wait for 3 to 4 days to get it done.Originally posted by B7ACKTHORN View PostSlightly higher coolant level in the reservoir is nothing to worry about. Asked the same to head mechanic.Originally posted by s1d View Postdid the coolant and oil mix ?
Not mixing, the gasket not allowing the coolent to flow free. I guess It become weak over the usage.
Bike is 1.7 yrs old done 44k kms
Last time changed the coolent at 23k with new radiator since old one is broken.
Now asked them to replace the coolent aswell.
