Re: KTM Duke 390 - Ownership Reviews and Experiences
Try if you can source Rolon chain set. OEM chain expands quickly and needs adjustment for every 500-600 kms . I switched to Rolon chain set a few months back and I have done the adjustment only once that too after 1800kms.Originally posted by ganesh_bbr View PostThat’s the exact info I was looking for. My town dealer did not provide me the chain separately, anyways will check with nearby Service Center.
Thanks a lot !

i don't understand the last line of your post.. a head gasket failure (which is what you pointed out circled in your previous pic) will mostly cause the oil/coolant to mix. another possibility is the water pump seal which will also cause such issues.Issue fixed by changing that Metal Gasket.Originally posted by B7ACKTHORN View PostA classic case, we have here. The temp gauge shows the bars according to the CTS located to the right side of the cylinder, the ECU reads and interprets then sends the information to the dash and you read them as bars. The thermostat in no way hinders any parameters of the bars w.r.t the display, purely a misinformed mechanic. Though his experience on hand might differ, and he might be right. The initial prognosis is critical as that is what paves way either this or that.
Best of luck! Do keep your observations posted.
Cheers!

Also changed the rubber Head Gasket.
Attached the changed parts name list.
Thanks you so much for helping me to understand and fix the issue.
Cheers!

Looks like the water pump rotor and seal has also been changed apart from the head and valve cover gaskets. I think you should be good to go now. Hopefully the repairs were carried out properly!Originally posted by Imam Jafer Ali View PostIssue fixed by changing that Metal Gasket.

Appreciate if you could post the picture of the bill with the prices

Yea, mechanic was so confident that Gasket is the culprit and he changed the water pump seal as precaution to avoid issues in future. I don't have the bill now, will post it by monday.Originally posted by s1d View PostLooks like the water pump rotor and seal has also been changed apart from the head and valve cover gaskets. Re: KTM Duke 390 - Ownership Reviews and Experiences
Mine too stalled today & refused to start showing "High coolant temperature" warning at a busy traffic signal. It has happened for the FIRST TIME. Bike is 2 yrs old with around 19k on the odo..
@Imam jafer_ It seems both our problems occur at the same time. Though I rode the bike today and it just ran fine. I think it was just a regular "high temp" thing..

If it's the first time but ride like that in that route usually then it's the start, if not no issue.Originally posted by jack_daniels View PostMine too stalled today & refused to start showing "High coolant temperature" warning at a busy traffic signal. If every 4 kms bike stalls even without traffic then it's the same issue like mine. Cheers!

Thanks for sharing the invoice.
Could someone explain me what relation does this issue have with starter motor Assembly. I think, starter motor is an independent electrical unit which sits outside of the engine and might not have any impact caused by this issue. Am i missing something?

Re: KTM Duke 390 - Ownership Reviews and Experiences
Self Starter Motor replacement is nothing to do with this issue. Its already went kaput 10 months before at 23k kms and I clocked about 20k kms after I managed to fix it in a local shop. Bike was not starting after issue fixed, mechanic changed the battery to check even then not started, then he changed the self-starter motor and I donno its 5k rupees until I pay money!!!Originally posted by kris123456 View PostThanks for sharing the invoice.

woah.. 537rs for coolant??! What brand did you use?Originally posted by Imam Jafer Ali View PostBill attached.
And close to Rs.1900 for labor !! The svc's seem to be offsetting the relatively cheap price of spares with expensive labor.

Motul Inguel expert which cost around 250rs for a liter when I bought one around a year before in svc and donno why they charged 537rs.Originally posted by s1d View Postwoah.. 537rs for coolant??! What brand did you use?

1900rs labour seems valid to me since mechanic worked a whole day with my bike.
Are not these prices are fixed by Bajaj only the svc can change the type of service done if liked to reduce the cost.
