My front tyres are 22.5k old metzelers but they are worn only on the outside about 2 to 3 mm compared to the inside which are easily visible to the naked eye.
Bike doesn't go straight if I leave the handle from more than 10k kms back.
Now it's very hard to corner, like I need to push the handle from left side if I'm taking a learn curve.
What is the issue I dont want the new tyres to end up the same once changed.
Two things, a worn or a cupped tire would have different and worse characteristics depending on the road conditions, especially during wet. Secondly, a faulty T stem coneset too overtime would harden and cause steering issues., i.e. pulling to one side, and wobbling at high speeds, and pulling to one side during braking. Two things, get your T stem coneset checked and along with it "replace" your tire.
Cheers!

Once upon a time, a guy asked a girl 'Will you marry me?'
The girl said, 'NO!'
And the guy lived happily ever after and rode motorcycles and watched sport on a big screen TV, went fishing and surfing, and played golf a lot, and drank beer and scotch and had tons of money in the bank and left the toilet seat up and farted whenever he wanted.
That is BS. KTM will and in no way claim for what has already been dusted and the money deposited in their bank. It's only unnecessary red tape, and waste of time and energy on your side fighting KTM even if you send the mail higher up for what has actually transpired. Why didn't the insurance guys inform you this earlier, if they knew you were going to get it done with your money? Why didn't the insurance, at least, give you an idea as to what can be done. It's just eyewash. The SVC should have at least informed you, that this can be covered under warranty, because they know it better as many cases like these come in on a daily basis.
Either, the SVC is purposefully not claiming broken rims or writing this to the user himself as user induced error or they are teaming up with the insurance guys and hoodwinking the customer, is anybody's guess. Irrespective of manufacturing defect, any item that is broken or damaged due to road accident should be covered under warranty, that's the reason, an insurance exists in the first place. If we can pay from our own pocket, then why bother insurance, why bother all this headache?
As much as I really don't want you to this, but I really want you to press them whenever you can, and at least make sure they compensate 45 to 50% of what you've paid. In the first place, it isn't a huge sum, and it isn't going to depreciate your IDV in a drastic way.
So, let's give it a shot, give a good fight, before they eventually take a final call. It's better to fight rather than not, knowing what the outcome will be.
Good luck.
Cheers!

Hi B7ACKTHORN,
I was out of station for sometime so the delay in reply. The fiasco with the insurance guys is not reaching anywhere and they are continuously pressing to me withdraw the claim or they will close it on their own it seems.
This fight is mentally draining and they are more than happy to drag this on endlessly. I was in talks with his head and he also quoted the same points like road is not an external surface. There was no impact to the bike. They dont cover potholes. It comes under perils section and all, which is not covered. And some other BS points.
Talking with them is like going round and round on the same thing.

If the way I've understood is right after reading the OP posts, in no way this incident qualifies for warranty claim from KTM side or tyre manufacturer Metzeler, if the wheel was shattered at the spokes or cracked near the beading it'd have qualified for a warranty claim.
This is purely a user incurred damage, so this should and must be resolved by the Insurance provider side

I did find any mention of the Insurance provider company in your posts or I've missed it. So assuming it's a private insurance agent, usually with my past experience private insurance companies, they usually outsource the surveying to 3rd party freelancer surveyor who will be working with all Insurance companies in parallel. I doubt he would get back to you to clear this issue.
Best bet would be not go via verbal talks, calls or mails route. Take a day off from work and just head out to the branch office in Bangalore, each insurance company has a main branch office in Bangalore, talk to the main manager there and explain your issue, if they still insist to go via warranty claim then ask them to give the same in writing. Then you can move forward legally if issue is still not resolved and then by raising a with complaint with Insurance Regulatory and Development Authority of India (IRDAI)

That's precisely the dilemma here Kiran. Though he's tried his luck, if the agents are too hard pressed to even consider, and the same goes to the head he'd spoke to, it's only gonna end up as a redtape and catcalls. And right, he'd already paid up from his pocket, and it's a win win here for both the insurance and the SVC, because both have their money, and they'd be more than willing to get on with it. The ombudsman process is another red tape, he'd obviously come back to the insurer, and they'd definitely have their say, and it's another needless process.
sujithbvm, I'd consider one last time to take it up with the ombudsman, and see if it gets any steam from there. If it doesn't, don't worry, consider this as a phase of life and move on. Pondering too much over lost money will only eat ones brain and peace of mind. In the end, you've paid for your bike, you've got your bike, and you're back on road riding, and that's all that matters.

The insurance is from Tata AIG which i took online from policy bazaar. One more thing he mentioned today morning is that in the renewed policy, the policy number of my previous policy has come as 123456 which is the default number. So he is stating that there is misinterpretation of facts and I am trying too fool them by taking policy post the accident and all. I dont know how this happened now on the website, because i remember entering it correctly. May be some bug in the website. So that's that. One more reason added for them to not approve the claim.
By the way is 800 rs for using lathe machine to straighten the rear rim justified ?

You are right B7ACKTHORN. Since the bike is already repaired and paid for the repairs. The SVC is not at all interested in taking this further. They have given me the bills except for the 800 rs which they took for lathe charges to straighten the rim (which i feel was not bent in the first place and i feel i was taken for a rip off, as i didn't have as such proof that it was straight already ).
As both you and Kiran suggested, I will the head office once and see what happens. Otherwise i will accept what has happened as a lesson learnt and move on.
Thank you for all the support.
Hi Guys, New here. Has anybody tried 14 teeth front sprocket on Duke 390?
The Duke 250's 14T is a direct fit and makes the bike more peppier, especially during city riding conditions.
Cheers!

Re: KTM Duke 390 - Ownership Reviews and Experiences
Hi Guys, has anybody tried removing the number plate of KTM Duke 390(front of the speedometer). I removed the number plate and L shaped backend. Now my speedometer is in place(tightened with 2 long screws) but I can hear buzz when i am riding my bike in 1st or 2nd gear with 3-4k RPM. Those scrwes holdings are surrounded by rubber washers. Eventually it ll loosen up as the rubber washers gonna loose their gluey feature.
The problem is that I removed that L shaped thingy and lost it. Went to SVC and they said they dont have it. Any resolutions?

The buzzing sound can also be due to the faulty key hole plastic shroud which has a tendency to buzz at that certain RPMs. Did you try removing the screws altogether and observe?
Cheers!

Thanks Sir. That L thingy is super essential to hold the speedometer. I lost it and i think I have to get a new 1 from welder. That buzzy sound is coming from my faulty indicators. Its the third time, I am having this problems. Stock Indicators suck. I ll try to put new Husqvarna indicators.

Are the indicators not seated flush?. The Duke's indicators are solid piece fitment, they don't even allow for any movement, though they allow mild flex. I reckon, either your indicators aren't properly seated and torqued well. Please check your indicators for proper nut torque and right seating. Keep us posted.
Cheers!

they are seated fine. Yes they are solid but there is noise coming from inside of the indicator. I ll try to post a short clip after this lockdown.
Hi. The front left fork of my 2014 D390 has a leak. Any idea what the costs are to rebuild both forks. Thanks
Fork seal set, per fork approx Rs. 365 x 2 nos.
Fork oil 480 ML can per fork costs 230 approx x 2 nos
Approximately 2000 rupees for both the forks, excluding labor charges for 2014 model.
Cheers!
