Between 2008-12 I owned the Apache Fi 160

There are two types on noises that I've come across on the ktm's.
One is a squeal and it will vanish if you ensure to get the pads removed and rubbed down on sandpaper every service. If you ride in very dusty conditions, I would suggest you rub the disc itself with a scotch brite pad and dishwash soap and rinse it off.

The other is a more of a high pitched whine-squeal that crops up after riding/using the brakes for a while (@ajay_vishwanath has this prob currently not sure if he has got it fixed.. he does hard braking often since he is a track guru ). I had this issue and the sound used to come whenever the pads/rotor got warm (i.e. after riding about a bit). At first they rubbed down the pads, then replaced the pads and finally the rotor was replaced (under warranty at around 2500km on the odo). No issues since.

Disc brake noise is common during run-in. It was present in my ZMR also till abt 2,000 km. Never heard the noise after that.!

As far as I've gathered, squeaking noise occurs due to improper pad contact and the fixed rotor configuration of the 390. Good move by KTM introducing the floating setup on 2016 bikes, let's see how they fare(if those updates indeed apply for our market)

            Cheers!

            The girl said, 'NO!'

And the guy lived happily ever after and rode motorcycles and watched sport on a big screen TV, went fishing and surfing, and played golf a lot, and drank beer and scotch and had tons of money in the bank and left the toilet seat up and farted whenever he wanted.

Here are some of the pictures of the 2016 models. The chassis number matches the VIN too. The new model has no headlight switch also they have changed the colour from midnight black to ebony black (not visible in the pictures) as they could not take the bike out in the sunlight!

Also, does all the new bikes undergo PDI by the dealers which includes body checking and engine checking where they check the motorcycle on the Dyno ?

Hey which dealership did you go today in Bangalore? I went to Indiaranagar Khivraj in the morning and they told me you wont get a 2016 bike till March. I think if i get a 2015 bike at least I get a switch gear extra

Hahaha. I still think the switch should've been there! Moving forward for projector installation, etc the switch would indeed come in handy. Guess we'll have to do some jugaad**
