Re: KTM Duke 390 - Owners Reviews and Experiences
To add to that:Originally posted by shootingstar View PostIt depend on how you ride, if you drive smoothly and don;t accelerate or red line in each gear then chain will have longer life.
* Always keep the chain tension/ slack in check. may need minor adjustment every 500 kms. Its better to sit on the bike and then (someone else) adjust the tension, which is not covered in the Manuel. Most of us may adjust the chain without the usual load on the bike, so a chain adjusted with 5-7mm of play will become tight, when the SW goes up under load. a tight chain will reduce its life drastically.
* keep it well lubricated. Dont just keep spraying the lube every time the chain gets dry, as that leads to stickyness. Once in a while, CLEAN the chain nicely, with a used tooth brush / paint brush and a chain cleaner. i guess we can also use diesel/kerosine to get the muck off the chain, some do it, some oppose it.
A well adjusted, and well lubed chain makes a lot of difference to the ride smoothness and vibes. I learnt the hard way.
my odo read 10k kms and i think i need a chain replacement.

I do that every 1000Kms or so with kerosene. Takes some efforts but the chain looks and feels so much better. Though cleaning the front sprocket under the cover is a bit fiddly..Originally posted by nasirkaka View Post* keep it well lubricated. Re: KTM Duke 390 - Owners Reviews and Experiences
Went to Service center to get the chain slack checked and the personnel spotted reason for the noise coming from chain.

It seems, the frame foundation bolt nut fell off and the bolt came out from the other side and hitting the chain.
Last night, my bike went dead suddenly while doing 90 kmph, all electricals were gone, no lights, no ignition nothing. I turned the key off and on, then bike came back to life. Turns out the earth plug is connected to foundation bolt and somehow it messed up with the electricals. One bloody nut gave so many headaches for me in the last few weeks.
Also had a chance to check out the RC390, build quality is vastly improved. I liked the rear tyre huggers, if it retrofits on Duke, then it should control most of the muck hitting my helmet.

Duke's hugger for comparison

Liked the handle grips as well, but the entire switch gear set seems to be different, so it might not fit Duke.

Nope they aren't. They said, It will take atleast a month for the test ride bikes to arrive.Originally posted by ags1773 View PostThat looks like the Banjara Hills dealership. Are they (or, for that matter, any dealership) allowing test rides of the RC390?

Re: KTM Duke 390 - Owners Reviews and Experiences
Hi guys! I got my 390 as a surprise gift from my parents on my 24th bday last week.
I took the delivery from Chandigarh and rode down back to my home in Bathinda, the bike has done 612 kms in 2 days including 220kms of highway ride, yesterday morning I washed it coz the bike got all drenched in rain and mud splash, after that the bike was kept inside my garage for say 2 hours or so, I took the bike out started it, ideal 2 mins and then went for hardly 1 kms and the bike stalled completely, I tried almost 20 tyms starting her up but didn't work, then I had to push her back home and carry out necessary troubleshoot, I took the spark plug out which was very tough compared to my p220, it had slight oil residue on the rings but the lower portion was completely dry and was brown (which os a good sign), then I blew air on the plug wire but again nothing happened, checked all the fuses and all of them were ok.
I wa super happy with the way she behaved on the highway and now shez all dead suddenly just because I cleaned the bike??
Can you guys please help me as the nearest service centre is 200 kms away.

Re: KTM Duke 390 - Owners Reviews and Experiences
Completed 1000kms on my Duke 390 a.k.a Akira in around 25 days. I know the running is low but I get to ride it just on weekends and a few days here and there through the week. Im totally taken by the bike. Superb acceleration and strong torque makes smile everytime. And the best part is the bike doing speeds of around 110-125kph just under 7500rpm. And it feels relaxed at that speed. Can ride long distances easily at speeds of 100-110kph and FE returned till date is max 25.3kmpl (overall). Guess it will bump post 1st service. In city riding conditions of Goa it returns me 18-20kmpl. Haven't ridden much on highways to state correct FE figures.
Also forgot to mention that hit a top speed of 161kmph. I know this aint the right way to do because its still running-in but the road was wide open and with a bike like this I just couldn't control the itch
:P
Overall Im happy with my purchase

Re: KTM Duke 390 - Owners Reviews and Experiences
Water must have got into the FI sensors which are right below the rider seat...Please use blower to blow away excess water after the wash and never direct high pressure under tge seat and tank & Also at radiator....
If you do not have a blower. Leave the bike in sun for couple of hours... Bike would start...
Still no go inspect the battery terminals.... If anything loose or broken...
Hopefully your beast is back and roaring...

wish they would change the brake and clutch parts.not the foot levers..pads and all.the brake just lacks bite.like they change in the silent recalls.but yes, this is a very good move by bajaj.next should be improving the asc experienceOriginally posted by shootingstar View PostLooks like new ktm will have better alloy wheels as per indian condition....atleast now if we change alloy after a break down we will get better alloy
