Pirelli is testing new tyres for 390 having similar grip level but are cheaper than current metz.

Hi guys, Got my metzeler tyres protected by tyre sealant from the company (Tyre protector) today. It costed 1500rs/-. I already had a couple of punctures in my rear tyre, so I decided to do this to avoid anymore punctures. The sealant was applied to both the tyres .They say the sealant lasts upto the end of the tyres life and can take 20 to 30 punctures. They have given unlimited warranty also. It is just a fifteen minute job and they do door service. I think its worth the money. Should wait till the next puncture occurs, so that I can check how the sealant works. Thanks.

Saba - Certainly worth it and ideally should go into brand new tires to derive better reliability and worth out of the product... Better late than never. Puntures can be a pain...

TP have hiked up prices like crazy. 6 months ago they used to charge 900/ -for 390 - 350 ml + 450 ml.

I went in for PFZ as I got the bike couple months ago. So far no puntures at all worth 900/- bucks ...

Yes, its certainly worth it. Should have done it at day 1. But I wasn't aware of the product, so thats why the delay. Will have to wait and watch to see how the product works.

It may be a bad idea to use a sealant. I used it once on my Gladius and yeah it did seal up the hole where the nail had gone through, but every time I rode a little fast the tire would heat up and the sealant would give way and start to leak out cause of temperature rise in the tire. The only permanent way is to do an internal patch up in case of a puncture. Plus the tire service people always charge more to work on a tire that has slime or either refuse to work on a tire that has the slime.

Yes, even i heard the same and more over metz get heated up way too quick. But never heard any complaints still from metz tyre users. Waiting for reviews from the users of metz with this product and some punctures to their tiers.

I have used TP with over 10+ punctures on the rear wheel and some 5+ punctures on the front wheel. I in fact went with TP as a last resort when the roadside patch failed to hold and the only alternative was an inside patch or a new tyre. The TP sealed that puncture and has held good so far over a couple more punctures. I would recommend it.

18500 KMS or 4th Service update Update.

                    1. Still running on stock Metzeler on front, still around 1000+ kms life left.. Rear is Michelin Pilot Street Radial. Very happy with it.
                    2. Bike was sputtering at 4000 RPM. The long pending Throttle body replacement resolved the issue.
                    3. Because of above change. In city mileage is back to 27 kmpl from 24 kmpl.
                    4. Crashed into a Maruti 800 from behind as he braked suddenly and had no time to react. Crash guard and gloves took most of the damage. Bent brake side rear set. It was straightened. Front brake lever was replaced as it was bent.

And My Duke is year old today

Congrats on completing one year with Duke Bit more information on all four points would be nice to know.

                      1. How do you find the rear tire while cornering? Is it as stable as the Metzelers? How bout the grip levels on loose gravel & wet? Lastly, the marginal downsize-does it contribute anything to acceleration?

                      2. Was it a warranty job? If not, how much did it cost?

                      4. Cost of the brake lever please.

Also wanted to know if you have changed brake pads in these 18,500kms and if yes how many times. Monsoons and Duke 390s brake pads aren't best of friends seems like.

Did you get any comment/feedback from SVC on your chain sprocket life?

Sorry for so many questions but just wanted to gain better insight into what it is to own this bike on a long term.

Michelin is not as great as Metz in high speed cornering. But what ever corners I throwed my bike into, Michelin handled pretty well. I am pretty happy with my rear tire purchase.
And about acceleration. 390 is still as mad as it was on Metz.

                        2. Was it a warranty job? If not, how much did it cost?
It was warranty. But price is around 4500.

                        4. Cost of the brake lever please.
Do not remember exactly. But below 200.

Changed brake pads ZERO times. They are still good and have at least 3000-4000 kms life left.

Did you get any comment/feedback from SVC on your chain sprocket life?
Chain and sprockets are also still good and do not have plans to change yet. May be at 24000 kms I will see.

with the same setup im so sad with my bike. front metz can do another 7-9k kms happily. current odo is 12500. riding it only when necessary. rear tyre is asame as yours, michelin, pilot street 140 section.
i find it so difficult to ride now. bike does not respond as usual. can it be coneset? or front tyre wear? as only right side of tyre is wearing out more? im sad. i hope to get some good option for both tyres at 20k service. if nothing, back to metz.
I'm a responsible rider. It doesn't matter what you ride, but what matters is how you ride.

Also, check if the tyre is properly aligned with the rim. It sometime happens that the while fitting the tyres alignment is not maintained.

bro. Try adjusting your front coneset. I had mine loosened at a local trustworthy mechanic. it's good now.
