Re: KTM Duke 390 - Owners Reviews and Experiences
Sure thing, I am sure it will fix the sound as the slack was much tighter than what KTM recommends.Originally posted by shootingstar View PostDo let us know if it solve the problem
Hi Barkha, you dont mind the super sporty posture of RC? It wont be comfortable on long rides at all. In that aspect Duke is better. And just to clarify, the top end of RC will be much more than 390 due to its improved aerodynamics. The windblast post 160 is severe in Duke which wont be the case in RC. The added weight is negligible as KTM uses only plasticOriginally posted by BarkhaHi everyone!!!!!
I need a lil convincing about the Duke/RC 390.
i am in the market to upgrade from my now sold CBR250R
i am a bulltier by heart but mind says otherwise...so am a lil confused ,
The suspension of Duke is pretty stiff so riding on bad roads is really irritating. RC would be even stiffer I believe.
The rims are a bit of a concern but it is just that a rider should be more careful with this bike. Also, I havent come across this issue lately. Maybe people have become more careful.
The recent versions are better and most of those niggles like starting issues etc are resolved to a good extent. People who dont face issues are busy riding and dont bother to post here
If you want a bike with almost telepathic handling, mad acceleration, high amount of safety (ABS + Metzelers) there is no replacement for this bike at that price range. Makes you forget all the niggles when you start riding it
Just that one has to be really careful while riding and should not be carried away by the urge to whack open the throttle every time.
It is just the wheel balancing weights buddy, nothing to worry. All dukes have it.Originally posted by Cheetah View PostThanks to all for helping in choosing my ride. Today i have taken delivery of my black duke 390. Will post pics tomorrow. I am curious to know one thing - there is weight in the middle of wheels both front and rear. It looks like what we have for cars for wheel balancing. Is it normal? Upon asking the SE they said its normal and comes from factory.

It's best to get it checked ASAP if there are no visible spills or leakage. Worst case scenario is the coolant enters the engine and mixes with the engine oil which is bad.Originally posted by mustang28 View PostMissing Coolant : My coolant level has dropped from max to min in a span of 7 days. No visible leak on/around bike. Where is it going?

Re: KTM Duke 390 - Owners Reviews and Experiences
Bangalore guys,
BIke is due for 3rd service and i want to give it to BTM KTM.
First 2 service i got it done from autoservice, banashankari, and was not happy. They only pay attention to super-bikes.
Is the KTM BTM service centre good enough. Its the closest to where i stay. Can anyone recommend a knowledgeable point of contact there? Thanks!

I think a few have reported bad experiences there. AFAIK Kasturba road SVC is the one which has least negative reviewsOriginally posted by nasirkaka View PostBangalore guys,

Have been going there for sometime now and nothing much to complain really apart from over tightening of rear axle bolt (after they heard about how it came loose for some people) so much that I am not able to loosen it myself! In case you plan to go here, Ravi is the svc manager and this is his number 9916644173.
In the end, all that matters is the bike should make you happyOriginally posted by Barkha
I am sure whichever you decide, the GT or 390, you wont regret it.

Not being rude, but why do you even want a higher capacity bike when you are not looking for doing high speed??Originally posted by Barkhai am not looking for speed but am looking for a higher capacity bike that can do a good job of weekend rides without breaking down or giving trouble.

Re: KTM Duke 390 - Owners Reviews and Experiences
I think yours is a 'what bike ' section question.Originally posted by BarkhaHi,
How are you?
speed is not everything to me,.quality, aesthetics, handling, Tyre, paint quality, engine capacity, torque etc.....also matters,
No bike is perfect for that matter,. so as of now i can afford a bike with 2L cash ,so i am thinking of D390 and CGT535,
You might get some better response there. Personally I think the continental GT might be better option for you since you are familiar with royal enfield.

Re: KTM Duke 390 - Owners Reviews and Experiences
just get the 390 already since you'll be planning for the 650.it makes some sense that you should get accustomed to 44hp and 35nm before u jump to twin cylinder 72hp and double torque.stepwise progression?Originally posted by BarkhaYa RE is better for me as i already owned 2 in the past, no its not "what bike question, its a whether duke or not" question.
but after 2 REs i was thinking of buying something radically different before upgrading to N650 after 2 years.
the common issue faced will be khat khat noise, loose nuts and rattling sounds.thanks to the big single.for me no alloy issues even at triple speeds(unintentional).yes, I had my whole engine replaced but the newer batches definitely have received fixes for all the niggles.as seen on other threads the main 'quality' issues will be asc related.make sure you have a good rapport with them.๔ยкє ҭђгєє ภเภєҭұ เภ ๓ұ שєเภร

Re: KTM Duke 390 - Owners Reviews and Experiences
I think mostly all opinions here are gonna be pro D390. It's the best bang for buck bike out there Atm. Sorry but RE is not even remotely in the same league. Since uve already owned Bullets in the past, why wouldn't u want to upgrade to something better and so much more fun.Originally posted by BarkhaYa RE is better for me as i already owned 2 in the past, no its not "what bike question, its a whether duke or not" question.

Yup. Hyderabad currently and Jamshedpur earlier on a Rajdoot and RE Classic 500. RVMs are not mandatory their either.Originally posted by eliksir View PostHyderabad ? It's illegal everywhere in India
Well, my Rajdoot did not have indicators on it (Was manufactured without indicators). The bike was from a time when indicators were not mandatory on Indian bikes! There is no better therapy than riding a bike down a straight road at full throttle with the sound of the engine for company.

trust me i want to upgrade but the rim cracking in making me panic....i asked the SR in the showroom about rims crackling, he said no one has reported the rims cracking till date...and he said no warranty is offered on the rim. if it does crack it will be covered by insurance...that means if i apply for insurance my next premium would be more and i am feeling that coz of the rim ill have to renew the full insurance instead of 3rd party,
I guess you need to see this video (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=D0yXRiVnA7g),
The problem is not with the rims, its with indian roads, and you should understand what you are buying. Even R1 rims crack if it hits a big pot hole at 80kpmh. Duke is street performance bike with low profile tires and light weight body and rims.

Re: KTM Duke 390 - Owners Reviews and Experiences
Always check the coolant level when bike is cold, if you check it when bike is hot it will show higher level. There might be differnce in level because you might have checked it previously when bike was hot and afterwards when it was cold, just a guessOriginally posted by mustang28 View PostMissing Coolant : My coolant level has dropped from max to min in a span of 7 days. I have just seen one when i was taking my 390 delivery at first thought assumed it was the one of our member who posted the pictures i think sriharsha's mainly due to exact same place the rim broke and it being in ktm banjara hills svc the very same place he gave but later realized its different due to white color of the bike, it even had it main trellis frame cracked svc guys told accident case but might be a older one also just sharing
----consecutive posts auto-merged-----
varun motors i am assuming are the ones who own the vizag ktm they even told me (ktm Banjarahills) will take atleast 20 days but got mine a week from the date of enquiryOriginally posted by BarkhaHi Adarsh_Bk
How are you?
Thanx for the views of the RC and 390.
I dont mind the weight. i did handle the DS500, so weight is no concern.ya the top end of RC will be better than the 390 but i guess i wont be doing 120 leave alone 160,
i am not looking for speed but am looking for a higher capacity bike that can do a good job of weekend rides without breaking down or giving trouble. as i mentioned the bike will be taken out only on weekends,to max to max the bike will do around 2000 to 3000 KMs in a year. i will upgrade to a 600+ in 2 years.
Visited the KTM showroom yesterday, inquired about the RC, SR told that the RC will be priced around 50k+ over the STD390, now that's out of my budget,
now that i have booked the CGT i am planning to cancel it and take a 390.Booking for 390 is 40K and waiting is 1 month for the Black D390,
what is pulling me towards the 390 is the reason that i already had 2 bullets ,,,,so why not try something different.
if atall it stalls in the road i would rather push something that is 140 kg than something that 190 kgs.
Maybe.....for now.... maybe i would book the bike after 10th Sep.
OT : saw a ninja 300 in the showroom..looked awesome in fleshsigpic
