Www. Dx.Com
Search for fuel cans. You will get ultra slim cans uptil 20 ltrs.
About the luggage - any ride, lasting even for a month doesn't need more than 15kg of stuff, excluding fuel. Not sure why some want to carry their mini house along!

Can you elaborate your problem? With the vibrations and the new one you had done?
There is no better therapy than riding a bike down a straight road at full throttle with the sound of the engine for company.

i meant i have got a new ktm 390 black and have done about 300km till now
and regarding the vibration it is very severe when decelerating at lower gear from higher speeds the bike gives out huge vibration kind of plastiky noise it was there right from the time i took delivery and the ktm people are trying to solve since day 1 its been roughly a week still no avail the head mechanic has asked me to come in the first hour so that he can take out all the parts and check for it

Where did you get the bike from? My D390 is 450kms old and was a bit rough at the beginning with the vibes and severe engine braking.
Had changed the Engine oil to Motul 300V at around 350 kms after talking to a couple of senior mechanics. The bike is too damn smooth now (which is kind of not good).

So, my suggestion would be try changing the oil if nothing works. Maybe your engine is too viby with the stock oil while decelerating and you are experiencing severe engine braking.
Just my thoughts (might be completely wrong), but you can try it out if nothing works.
Another suggestion (a more realistic one!) would be try the Begumpet KTM SVC as well. There is a guy called Louis there who works on KTMs and Ninjas. You can give him a try.

Deekshith Red.. It would be very easy to understand if you use 'Full stops' between sentences.

no worries major, will be using the oxford English reference book from now on

actually was replying to another post with similar problem as mine but didn't quote the text so i think there was a misunderstanding

actually my engine is much smoother than my roommates 390 which is roughly 6 months old but don't know why there is a sound even svc guys couldn't pinpoint the source of the sound.
Will try begumpet next time if banjarahills from where i have bought cannot resolve it.

Guys be patient with the bike, wait till 1000kms.. duke 390 by its character has huge amount of engine breaking tat causes the vibrations while decelerating. And yes the stock oil is not tat good, 300v makes the engine much smoother and cooler no doubt in that.

I had a similar issue where there was a bad rattling sound at specific rpms while decelerating. The culprit was a bolt and few stones which found their way into the bellypan and couldnt get out. Check if this is the case in yours. Just get the bellypan removed and check for anything that can cause vibrations.

yes rohit i do know the dynamics of 390 because probably i had the longest test drive, you see my room mate has a 390 so from last 3 months i have been test driving it but this sound was not found in the older one so only i had asked the svc to take a look.

I have already checked the bellypan beacuse in this thread someone already mentioned this was their cause may be when i go next i will ask for the bolts to be checked thanks

Hmm... few months back if I recall it correctly there is a service memo suggesting service centers to avoid using 300v. Reason being is premature engine failure. Was the memo cancelled already?

while we are discussing roughness and vibes, here's my 390's current situation.

I switched on o the mutul 300V at second service. Now bike odo reads 9550kms. For the last couple of months, the bike is feeling very rough, so much that i have been preferring the C5 to 390 for my daily commute of 50 kms to office.

Does the motul 300V really lasts longer in-terms of smoothness? Would it hold good for 6000kms before change? i somehow dont get that feel. This is the first time i am using 300V on any of my bikes. would the mineral or single Easter synthetic / semi would hold good if changed frequently. just asking. As of now, the engine feels rough.

Coming back to other roughness, its like when the bike is in motion, i pull the clutch and let the bike just roll at say 20kmph (gears dis-engaged), and i can hear and feel the roughness especially on my right foot. feels like some links in the chain are not lubricated enough, or may be there is some issue with the final drive, where something is slightly rubbing somewhere. I have been cleaning and spraying the Mutul chain lube almost every week (200-300kms). Even keep an eye on the chain slackness and adjust it whenever required. Only thing i am not able to do it wash the bike frequently. But with rains, the bikes been getting wet frequently and i take that opportunity to wipe-clean to whatever extent possible.

Any pointers to reduce the roughness would be appreciated.

Check the chain slackness....I used to get some noise when I roll the bike in neutral it was because chain was too tight. I was adjusting it thinking that slackness should be 5-7mm as per manual but later I found that I read the manual wrongly and ideally there should be 5-7mm distance from swingarm at a particular point and not slackness. Now bike is very smooth.

Is it? But thats sounds contradictory to what they have shown in the Manuel.
Also could you approximately guide as to which particular point the distance from the top of the chain to the underside of the swing arm should be 5-7mm? Tomorrow being sunday, would like to experiment and see if it helps. thanks.

The chain should be tightened at the point where it's loosest. Also, need to check for the optimal slack at multiple points once done with the adjustment.
